This might seem like a stupid question at first, but hear me out. I'm trying to open a photo on Google Photos website, and copy it to my computer's clipboard (right click -> copy image). The reason I want to do this is because I just want to quickly open the photo in Gimp, do some simple editing, then copy it to Inkscape, where it'll be part of a bigger image. The problem is that the image that is pasted is very low res, it seems that what is copied is only the lower-resolution version that appears on screen. So... My question is: Is there really no way of copying the full-sized image instead of downloading it? I have to do this with quite a lot of images, and downloading each one, and then open each one separately is not an optimal solution. Thank you!
Answer:
Hi Paulo,
Thanks for posting in the Google Photos Help Community.
Unfortunately, there isn't any way to copy full sized images directly to clipboard. The only option right now is to either download or use the "Save as" option. However, we really appreciate leaving feedback for the development team as this is a best way to see new features and changes rolled out in future versions of Google Photos. If there are any other improvements or ideas you've about Google Photos, you can always leave them under Help & Feedback and they will reach the developers directly:
- Open the Google Photos app on a mobile device or go to photos.google.com using a computer.
- At the top left, touch or click the menu icon > Help & Feedback.
- Touch or click Feedback. You can tell us things like:
- What you like or dislike about the app.
- Things that are confusing or don't work.
Also, it helps us understand your feedback if you check the box to include screenshots and logs.

This is a standard function that is missing from Google Drive. I don't understand why we must jump through so many hoops to do something so basic.

Hi, Justin Gonzalez 2173
Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.
The Google Photos service is available with every account. You can't disconnect that.
Nevertheless, you can stop using the service through these steps.
To entirely delete the photos stored on the cloud, please follow these steps .
- First, turn off backup & sync.
- Next, uninstall or disable the Google Photos app on your phone.
- Next, open the link https://photos.google.com through any browser on your phone. Log into your Google account if the browser asks you to do so.
- After that, go on deleting the pics one by one. You can speed up this step if you do so through a desktop PC. There, you can select multiple pics through the combination of the Shift + Mouse key.
- Once you have deleted all the pics, empty the trash bin also.
However, if the collection is sizable, you may not see the intermediate stop of storing the pics in the Trash.
Once done, please block the webpage https://photos.google.com within all browsers available on your phone & desktop PC so that you do not visit that site again accidentally.

Edit: the Google Photos stored on googleusercontent website was deleted after a few hours. But deleted YouTube profile picture on the ggpht still not deleted.
I was testing how this delete function works, so I opened the image I was going to delete in a new tab (a googleusercontent website link), then I deleted the photo, then I also deleted it from trash folder. But the original image on the googleusercontent still stays after reloading the page - is this temporary or permanent?
The same for YouTube profile picture, before deleting the profile picture I opened the image link on new tab (it was like a ggpht something like website), I removed my YouTube profile picture then saved or published the changes. But the original profile picture was still visible on that ggpht link after reloading the page - is this temporary or permanent?

Hi, Ginny Schneider
Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.
Google Photos doesn't support captions or subtitles.
Possibly, you have turned on "Live caption" through the accessibility menu on your phone.
Once you make that off, the captions will stop.

The Google Photo app on my Chromebox (Android app inside Chrome OS) makes a difference between a "real" WLAN (router) and a WLAN provided via my phone hotspot.
Only in the first case Google Photos "Automatic Sync & Backup works.
It looks like Google Photo "sees" the mobile data behind the hotspot WLAN and prevents using it.
Is there a way to avoid this?
Can I "disguise" the hotspot WLAN from my phone as a "real" (router type) WLAN?
The Chromebox has no GSM/LTE/mobile data modem, so taking care of its own mobile date can be no issue...

I have a strange issue. I took a series of over 200 burst photos on my Pixel 2 XL. I wanted to turn them into an animated GIF. On the 2XL, I went into assistant and clicked "movie" and made two movies in the burst photos. Those movies ended up storing inside the photo burst, not as separate files. Everything then backed up. After having no success making animated GIFs (and not realizing the movie was not it), I went to try to delete everything as these are photos I did not want stored permanently on the web, phone, etc. Nothing happened when I tried to delete the bursts as a whole. After attempting to delete, everything was still present (both on Android and web), but with no thumbnails. I was then able to go to delete again and everything deleted successfully off of my phone. However, on the web interface, the burst photos were all still there (no thumbnails) and went I went to delete, I got a "can't delete" error.

I could archive the bursts, but everytime I move from archive back to the album (or album back to the archive), everything reappears on my phone. Again, I can delete fine on my phone, but the bursts appeared on the web and told me "can't delete." I was able to delete all the photos one by one on the web just fine and empty the trash, but when I get to the movies, I'm told there's two files left. When I try to delete them I get the "can't delete" error. Same thing still happens when I go back to the Android app: when I move the movies from archive back to album (or album back on to archive), they reappear on my phone and delete there fine. But on the web app, no matter what I do, I keep getting a "can't delete" error.
The identifier icon at the top right is a corrupted mishmash of the movie icon and burst icon. When I open the thumbnail, I see a 2 second movie that plays just fine. I really would like to be able to delete these photos permanently and get them off the web and not have them reappear on my phone, but no matter what I do, I can't. I've tried deleting on multiple computers, in incognito mode, in multiple browsers. I deleted and reinstalled photos on my phone. What it looks like is that something corrupted got backed up and refuses to delete. Any and all help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Sonya,
Thank you for getting back to me.
When I deleted the burst photos, the photos were gone. The only thing that won't delete are the movies that Photos attempted to make from the burst photos when I tried to make an animation. I'm using Chrome on all platforms but I've also tried Safari on OS X to delete. The issue persists no matter the platform or browser. I've attached screenshots that hopefully are useful though I've blocked out all the photos themselves.

Please, how do I change between the audio of a dual-audio video on an Android phone?

No. My daughter accidentally reset my phone so I did not check my account. I just think it's strange that only one photo was recovered afterwards. How/why would only one photo have been backed up?
Answer:
There are unfortunatly no clues on what may have gone wrong. The most likely explanation is nearly all the photos weren't uploaded online, so the factory reset wiped the only copies on the device.

Question: How do I move photos from my motoZ phone to my computer?
I have my phone cabled to my PC....now what?
Hi, Steve Root 6244
Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.
The easiest way to transfer the photos from the phone to a PC is by connecting through the USB port.
Once done, select the option of "Data transfer" out of the ones offered by the pop-up message that flashes the moment you connect your phone to the PC.
Nevertheless, if you have freed up space on your phone, you can do so through Google Photos using the following options.
You can download photos by accessing the link https://photos.google.com through any browser on your PC. Select multiple pics through the combination of shift key + mouse & tap the three dots to see the download option.
Or, you can arrange for a bulk download by visiting the link https://takeout.google.com/
Select the Google Photos app for data download.
Once the file is ready, you will get an email. Access that & unzip all the attachments on your hard disk.

Answer:
Hi, Walter Disharoon
Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.
To bring back the pics to your phone's gallery either, you can download photos one by one.
Regrettably, there is no option to do so on a batch of photos.
Alternatively, you can install the Google One app. There is a one time option to restore up to two hundred most recent photos to the device.
However, that will not restore the local folder structure.
There is no requirement to join Google One. The option is available to everyone.
However, the method may not be helpful to recover something when the count is more than two hundred.
Or, you can arrange for a bulk download by visiting the link https://takeout.google.com/.
Select the Google Photos app for data download.
Once the file is ready, you will get an email. Access that & unzip all the attachments into your phone's gallery.
That will bring everything to your phone.

Answer:
This all can be done indeed if you are very clever, but there is no need for doing that, because the Google Photos is a better gallery then Samsung has.
First pinch two finger together on the Photos-page to get a better overview per day or per month.
Secondly: learn to make thematic albums because these also can be viewed as a slideshow and can be shared and more over: they will survive your phone (albums on Samsung not).
Etc. etc. with a lot of helpinfo available about many additional functions.
And you may need an old photo for your social media incidentily, you simply can download that one from Google. In meantime the Camera-album in the Samsung Gallery will get filled with new shoots which also can be viewed in the Google-app and can be coped to Google for safety and for sharing.

Hi Jacqueline, thanks for posting.
It sounds like you have run out of space locally on you're phone. If your phone does not have the space to store a picture, it may not permit you to take one.
Check out Google Photos "Free up Space" as a potential solution. Going through this process will ensure your pictures are backed up to Google Photos and then remove them from your device.
You can also download the "Google Files" app from the Play Store. This app is handy to display available space on your device and give recommendations for how to free up space locally.
I hope this helps, please let us know if you continue to encounter problems.

The word "modify" is wrong - the app simply asks if it is okay that the original files are deleted.
Be aware that deleting in the Google app means deleting your local files primarily and if backup is ON, you also will delete their copies in cloud
So if you only want to clean-up old files files from your phones (say everything before this year :-), you need to use another app like Google Files.
Always check before if your cloud looks complete via photos.google.com in the Chrome-app.

Answer:
That kind of misleading warnings did become normal and very irritating since the upgrade to Android-11.
The additional and correct warning after starting free-up space should have been:
"Are you sure that most of your local files will get deleted now permanently?"
Google is a bad student and hard to educate hélas.
Since years.

Hi, Vanessa Sealy
Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.
However, once a user deletes something permanently despite a warning message or allows the content to time out in the bin, Google doesn't maintain any backup.
There is no way to get back the content through Google Photos.
Nevertheless, you may install to your Android device a deleted photo recovery app (be sure to not pick one that requires rooting) https://play.google.com/store/search?q=recover%20deleted%20photos&c=apps;
and run a scan for anything to recover.

Hello Mandy,

No, deleting photos from your phone or memory card doesn't delete them from the Google photos if the photos are completely synced/backed up on the Google Photos.
Let me know if this helps.
