Restore my deleted videos

Question: Restore my deleted videos

Restore my deleted videos

Hello Omar Chaudhry 5691,

Please review the following information in case there are any options you haven't yet tried.

1. Check your online account - photos.google.com
If your photos were successfully uploaded to your online Google Photos account they may be available there. Try visiting photos.google.com and searching for them. If you have more than on
2. Check the trash - photos.google.com/trash
Once you delete photos from your Google Photos account, they're moved to Trash for the next 60 days. If you deleted them by mistake you can always restore them from the Trash folder within those 60 days. Here's the link explaining how to recover them from Trash. If you have more than one Google account, check the trash for all of them.

If you accessed the Trash and manually sent the photos for permanent deletion, or if the 60 days expired, there is no way to recover them from Google Photos

3. Review other options
  • if you previously used Picasa, visit picasaweb.google.com and search for your photos.
  • have you made any backups of the photos on your phone, camera, computer, or elsewhere?
  • there is a small chance that you can restore the photos using a recover deleted photos app (Android). I haven't used them myself so have no specific recommendations. There may well be more app options if you visit the appropriate app store and try other search terms. I don't see any similar apps on the iOS store, but you could check yourself.
  • you can contact the Google Drive support team to see if any deleted files may be recovered. Use the Google Drive contact form, click Missing or deleted files, select a contact option, and be sure to tell them you permanently deleted files in Google Drive.
  • If you ever shared the photos with anyone else, it's possible they may have a copy they could share back or send to you.
 Thanks.

Question: How do I rotate the picture

Need to rotate a picture

Hello Daniel Reagan,

Adjust, crop, or rotate a photo
  1. On your Android device, open the Google Photos app .
  2. Open the photo you want to edit.
  3. Tap Edit .
    • To add or adjust a filter, tap Photo filters . Tap to apply a filter, tap again to adjust.
    • To manually change lighting, color, or add effects, tap Edit . For more options, tap the Down arrow
    • To crop or rotate, tap Crop & rotate . To crop the photo, tap and drag the edges.
Tip: While you edit, touch and hold the photo to compare your edits to the original.
  4. At the top right, tap Save.
Your edits will be applied to the photo, but you can undo them at any time.
If your photos are not backed up, edits will be saved as a separate photo.

Let me know how it goes.
Thanks.

The location widget next to or underneath the date as you can see in my photo, The location that says "uxbridge" and "farnborough" - I use this all the time, as sometimes I don't want to go to the map to explore, this works absolutely fine on my Pixel 5

But on my Pixel 5 I get the white space but I don't get the locations appear at all, yes I've tried clearing the cache and clearing the app storage but I cannot get this to work.

Why does something that works on my Pixel 2 not work on my Pixel 5 - that "latest" handset

I have given Google photos access to location and that has not fix the problem.

Does anyone else know how to fix this as it's really annoying a feature I had on my old phone I can't get on my new phone

The larger thumbnails at the top don't load on my pixel five for about three minutes where is they load immediately on my pixel 2

Why is the Pixel 2 so much better than the Pixel 5???

Answer:

Google pixel support were useless they got me to clear the cache, check for updates, put my phone in safe mode and then wanted me to factory reset it what a waste of time

Pixel Support is the most horrible support I've ever encountered if you don't follow the checklists they don't wanna help actually fix anything, They assume everything is a hardware fault and they blame your phone not working for shipping knocking it around, what a load of……..meh

None of what Google Support told me to do helped with my problem

Getting 24 x 7 pixel support is useless as they  never fix your issues, I think I will be going to Apple iPhones as they just work with Google apps better than pixels

Question: How do i find a photo album someone sent to me? I have Android, he has iphone.

He has made an album and he hit the share/send button to me. Not able to locate them on my phone

Christine, assuming your friend is using Google Photos and shared with you a Google Photos album, you should find it in your Google Photos app under the Sharing section. You should see "Sharing" at the bottom of your screen - at the right. If not there, maybe he just sent you a link in an email.

I've tried to reinstall and clear cache and also leave to Phone "loading New photos" for an hour. Nothing helps.

On my iPhone everything worked for 5 years, this is a disappointment.

The difference is that when you started 5 years agoo, you started with nothing. But now the fresh app has to load a bulk of thumbnails and apparently you have some limiting factor somewhere.

@Julia
Open the Google Photos app and go to its Library page at the bottom. Then you will see these folders under Pictures on device if they contain an image and then you should be able to open them individually.
And then????

PS: don't delete pictures that belong to some app like Whatsapp.

Question: Make attached photos smaller

Not needed: just select, tap Share and choose the M at the bottom - then you will be asked to downsize to 1600px. That is still good quality for normal prints, but Google strips all metadata and that can be uncomfortable for the receiver.
Better then to send them as a link: then they can download them from your cloud in the quality they have on photos.google.com

Me and my friend have a shared album. We're both able to upload and view the photos and the main image of a video, but when we try to watch each other's videos they will not play. It says,  "Can't play video". How do we fix this?

Hi Savannah,

can the original owners of the videos play them on their own devices before adding them to the shared album?

Answer:

We are having the same problem, and the answer is Yes, the person who took the video can play it in Google Photos but no one that the video is shared with can play it.  They up load videos all the time, and they play just fine.  Today there were six short (30sec to 1m30sec) videos uploaded, with several pictures, five of the six videos will not play.

Answer:

Same issue here. I've been uploading short clips to the same album all year with no problem and yesterday several of the clips would not play for anybody except me. Very frustrated.

Same here. I can't find a pattern. Some short videos shared with me won't play and some longer videos shared with me won't play. Please help with a fix! Error states: "can't play video". The videos show up grey in the shared album. They play fine from album on original owner's device.

Question: I bought 100 GB besides free space of 15 GB. But it doesn't show 115 GB. It shows just 100 GB

Space issue

Apparently you should read that as an extension to 100 GB (or more) and if you stop paying, your workspace shrinks to 15 GB for free again.
But I fully agree - it does not feel well :-)
That's Google :-(

Answer:

That is how it works. It takes the 15GB that is free and "tops it off" to 100GB.
It doesn't add an additional 100GB to the 15GB that is free.

Answer:

I have to say, the offer of buying 100GB extra is deceiving.  I also understood I was buying 100 GB on top the preexisting 15GB.  Totally deceiving!!!!.  How can you sleep at night?

Hi Lucy,

>>> I would like to send an album with 50 pictures and a couple of short videos to a friend. Looking for a way ...sending a Link? To where?

The most straightforward way is probably to put everything you want to share in an Album, and then share the link for the album to your friend.  (Note: adding images to an album does not increase your storage usage).

Create a shared album
  1. On your mobile device, open the Google Photos app .
  2. Sign in to your Google Account.
  3. At the bottom, tap Photos.
  4. Select photos or videos for the album.
  5. At the top, tap
  6. Tap Shared album
  7. Enter an album title.
  8. When the album is complete, tap Share
  9. Select who to share your album with.
Important:
  • You can share directly to anyone with a Google Account if they're in your contacts or by search using their email address or phone number. For everyone else, you can create a link to share.
  • When you share a link to your album, anyone with the link can view and add to the album or photos. Learn how shared album controls give your photos more privacy.
  • If you share an album that automatically adds photos of face groups, anyone with access to the album can view photos as they're added.

.....

Manage your conversations and albums
  1. On your mobile device, open the Google Photos app .
  2. At the bottom, tap Sharing .
  3. You can access your shared albums and sharing activity, like comments and recently added photos. New sharing activity will be in bold.
If you don’t find what you want, tap Show more

Hi Vijay,

I’m sorry, it’s not possible to recover photos permanently deleted from the Google Photos Trash. However, you may install to your Android device a deleted photo recovery app (be sure to pick one that doesn't require rooting) https://play.google.com/store/search?q=recover%20deleted%20photos&c=apps and run a scan for anything to recover.
