The Google Photos app acts as a portal to view the Device copy AND the Google Photos 'backed up' copy. It does not store any photos.
This usually means that if you delete from the Camera roll and it disappears from the Google Photos app view then the photo is not backed up to Google Photos. Photos actually IN Google Photos can only be seen at the Google Photos Backup location - Tap here

Hello,i had google photos installed on my samsung galaxy s9 , and before giving it to service i opened google photos and all photos from camera gallery was there and showing till the last photo i made with camera, this camera folder was on phone internal drive, the service center rested the phone and they made aso a backup on my google account, after signing in phone started to restore, and the photos in camera folder is nowhere to be found, google photos did not show any photos from this folder, it started only showing wats ap photos that are being restored from wats ap, i checked the desktop version as well and photos are not there, so how come all photos in folder camera are missing and it was showing already in google photos app before giving the phone to service, please note it is not in recycle bin or archive of google photos, help please?

The Google Photos app is capable of displaying pictures saved both on the phone as well as those saved to the cloud, so it's sometimes easy to mix up which have been backed up and which haven't. Plus, there is no way to determine from within the app if all of the pictures in your Camera/DCIM folder have been successfully backed up yet.
Further, pictures in folders on your device that are not selected for automatic backup will still be visible in the Google Photos app, even though they aren't backed up to the cloud.
It sounds like your phone might have been reset before all of your pictures were completely backed up to your Google Photos library, or the backup process hadn't finished when the service person reset the device.
The safest way to verify your pictures have been backed up is to check the Google Photos website before resetting the device or deleting important pictures, just to make sure they have successfully uploaded. (If they're not visible on the website, then they haven't been backed up.)

However, when I do so, they get all mixed up and are copied to the camara folder in a NOT chronological time. (Even though they were saved in the WhatsApp folder in chronological time).

Sorry that you had to wait for a reply, but this is a user to user forum and we have no good answer to this kind of issues. We can only explain how things are supposed to work.

How did you free storage ?
- You may have used "Free up space" in the Google Photos app. That deletes photos from the device ONLY when they have been backed up to Google Photos.
- You can select some photos, tap 3-dots > Remove from device, but that also keeps the backed up copy. That option does not appear when a photo is not backed up.
- When you just deleted photos IN the Google Photos app, that would delete both the device and the backed up copy. You get a warning that the photos will be deleted from all "synced devices".
- When you delete photos in the Gallery or another File manager, the backed up copy remains in place if the photo was uploaded. That is not always the case.

You might want to just try logging into Gmail first to make sure that you have the correct password: https://mail.google.com
We are mostly user volunteers here, and have no access to accounts, etc.
This seems to be the most comprehensive source of data on recovery of Gmail addresses.
Excerpt:
Lost Password Recovery. The recover process can be started in either of two ways:
- Go to the Gmail sign in page at https://mail.google.com/ and after entering your e-mail address click the "Forgot password? link.
- Go directly to the start of the recovery process at https://accounts.google.com/signin/recovery
Try all possible recovery emails and recovery phones which you have access to. If possible, log into the recovery site from an IP address you have used previously.
Another thought, is that you MAY have saved your Google account password in the password management facility of a browser you don't use very often (Firefox, IE, Edge, Chrome...). If you think this is a possibility you might search ~password management~ with the name of the specific browser.
You might find more expertise on recovering accounts in the Gmail support forum.
After you are sure you have the correct password, then check your settings in the Google Photos App.

- Check your internet connection (mobile data).
- Close the Google Photos app and re-launch it.
- Sign out and sign back in to Google Photos with the same Google Account.
- Clear App data:
- Open your device's Settings app (not the Google Settings app).
- Touch Apps.
- Select Google Photos in the list.
- Touch Clear data.
- Update the Google Photos app on your Android phone:
- Visit the Google Play Store.
- Open Google Photos.

There are no backups, all web copies are deleted when a photo is placed into the folder.

My biggest frustration with Albums in Google Photos is that we cannot sort by file name. I use to rename photos in the order I want them before I upload.
