  • That will show the next page & there you will find the music symbol ♪. Tap on that.
  • The pop-up screen will show the following options "My music" "Theme Music" or "No music".
  • My music allows replacing the current music with your recording in MP3 format.
  • Theme music shows the entire collection available through Google under various headings. Select any that you like. Once selected, tap on the tick mark at the top right corner.
  • Save the edited movie.

I can unfortunately only confirm there's effectively no way of seeing which photos in Google Photos are taking up space in your Google account. We can't get this information from Google either as there are no tools or options for getting such details. I recommend that you send your feedback and suggestions to the Google Photos support team as explained in these instructions https://support.google.com/photos/answer/6156065
 
However, there are some clues on which photos may be taking space. For example, all the ones in Google Photos you uploaded at Original quality prior to getting the Pixel and nearly all the images uploaded to other Google products such as Google Drive, Google+ or Hangouts.

I'll ask on the product feedback. Since I moved my pictures from iPhone to pixel 3 using the transfer, there is no way of me knowing which pictures are old and which are new because all of them kinda are sitting into one library. I wish all these cloud photo solutions had a folder architecture where you cloud see thing clearly. Anyways, I would not hit the compress button till I get these images. The struggle continues!

There is a known issue with some photo's date/time stamp and current date/time display that the engineers are working on.

You can adjust date and time via Google Photos on a web browser (not the app)
  1. Go to https://photos.google.com and sign in to your account if needed
  2. Select the photo to open in full view
  3. Select the (i) info icon
  4. From the right side pane, select the pencil edit icon next to the date and time
  5. Adjust the date and time and save
You can also send feedback to the team so they can track hardware/software issues that may be contributing to this error. On your Android app:
  1. Open the photo in full view
  2. Swipe up to reveal menu options
  3. Swipe to the right to show the feedback option
  4. Report the error in a brief message and send

  2. Tap Library  New album .

  5. Select the faces whose photos you want auto-added (ensure that "Also add existing photos" is disabled).
  6. Tap Confirm.
  7. Open the Google Home app .
  8. Tap your Nest display  Settings   Photo frame  Google Photos.
  9. Tap your new album to enable it for Photo frame.
Depending on how you have configured your album, for example, displaying favorites, or face grouping, or auto-curation settings can also be playing a role.

Duplicates don't exist in Google Photos - but it maybe look alikes with slightly different data. 
Normally the app simply shows what you have on phone like any gallery (that are no copies), but you need to look on photos.google.com what you really have stored at Google in your account. 
If you have look-alike pairs there too, you are in trouble.
And then we have to analyse your workflow much more precisely.

To bring back the pics to your phone's gallery, either, you can download photos one by one.
Regrettably, there is no option to do so on a batch of photos.
 
Alternatively, you can install the Google One app there is a one time option to restore up to two hundred most recent photos to the device.
However, the local folder structure can not be restored.
To do so, there is no requirement to join Google One, the option is available to everyone.
However, the method may not be effective to recover something when the count is more than two hundred.
 
Or, you can arrange for a bulk download by visiting the link https://takeout.google.com/
Select the Google Photos app for data download.
Once the file is ready, you will get an email. Access that & unzip all the attachments into your phone's gallery.
 
That will bring everything to your phone.

The app is not suitable for your purpose because it is meant to show the photos on your phone like any gallery and (when switched-on) to copy them in your account space for safety primarily. 
But if you don't want that, you better can remove the app to avoid further confusing. 
Instead you can view your content on photos.google.com in Safari and then you have to log-in with your Google-account. 
That's all

However: on the Photos-page there will be a mix between local photos on phone and photos you have used in your albums. You can't prevent that.

Did you ever see the photos in another location, such as on the photos.google.com website or the app on another device?
 
Just because you can see photos by opening the Google Photos app, that doesn't necessarily mean they've been backed up. Google Photos also acts as a viewer for photos that are stored on your phone. 
 
Your profile at the top of the Photos section of the app will tell you the status of your backup. Unfortunately it does not indicate the status of individual photos.
 
This indicates backup is pending (recent photos not yet backed up). The arrow will be gray if it's waiting for wifi
 
Dotted line around around profile indicates upload in progress, the line turns solid to indicate progress, then disappears once the upload is completed
 
 
This indicates backup is disabled for this device or account
 
Could these photos also be backed up anywhere else- service provider backup (I know Verizon offers this), Dropbox, OneDrive, etc? I suggest looking in every possible place just in case.

You guys are the ones that got rid of Google Photos syncing to Google Drive so now I have photos on my phone under Google Photos from my Dell Pictures file???????????

The app just shows what you have on phone and what you have in your account space. 
If you don't want to see the photos that were store in the same account space by your computer for some strange reason, you need to remove that account from the app under the small profile circle right-up. 
I am not going to test if you still able then to backup your phonephotos in the same account space. 
Or you should create a secundary account, just for storing and viewing your phone photos.

What? Did you read the question? First of all my phone Not synced, and even if it was, these pictures are NOT on my Google Drive they are saved on my Dell Desktop as I said so what does that have to do with the Google Photos App? Which was the original question by the way.

Then you should have been more clear Angie - no Google here, just stupid volonteers and other users.  
 
The syncing from phonepictures stored on Google Photos (photos.google.com) towards Google Drive was stopped  in July 2019. So what you may have synced to your Dell can be no younger then July 2019. 
But in meantime you will have newer pictures on phone stored on Google Photos alone and not synced to your Dell anymore. And you may have pictures from a normal camera which were synced via your Dell to Drive + Photos - that is not quite clear. 
 
So in the Photos-app on phone you will see all mixed - the actual pictures on phone and the older pictures on Google. You also can view photos.google.com alone in the Chrome-app on your phone.

These photos are all new 2020 or 2021 and that doesn't answer why my Google Photo app would be syncing to my Dell Computer at all? And again these are going the opposite direction, they are going from my Dell Pictures and Documents to my Google Photos?And my sync on my phone is turned off and has been for awhile. If you have activated Google Backup & Sync on your Dell without understanding what you did, you have uploaded folders to Drive and as far as these folders contain pictures, they also got uploaded to Photos. 
And if the Photos-app on your phone is logged-in to the same account, you will see your Dell photos there. 
There is nothing abnormal with that, but you simply did not understand what you were doing. 
So remove the account from the app on your phone and your problem is solved. 
But it is not automatically clear to me why you were using the app on your Dell.

Why? 
You can view and share them in the Google Photos app (move two fingers together on the screen to get a more comfortable view), but you may need to switch-on using mobile-data to view them ootdoors. 
It is not comfortable to download many to your phone, just one you may need for some social media app, but in Whatsapp you can reach Google Photos now via the paperclip and the 3 dots right-up. 
You will have new shoots in your gallery soon enough. 
Don't use the free-up space option anymore, but remove old photos from your phone yourself to keep space.
