Sir i accidentally deleted whole album and i want my photos to get restored.  I had no backup how can i restore it when it's not in the trash bin.

Answer:

If you mean an album under "Library" in the Google Photos tab:  when deleted an album cannot be restored, but the photos are still available in the Photos tab. You can recreate the album.

If the above is not what you mean, please let us know.

Answer:

When you use "Free up space" in the Google Photos app on the device, it should remove the photos that have been uploaded. Many have the same complaint: they used it without knowing exactly what would happen. We asked Google to make the warnings more clear.

You can download photos back to your phone. See Download from Google Photos to (mobile) device
There is another issue: Google merges all photos from different folders to the timeline. If you uploaded from different folders, you better download a selection manually if you want to keep the folders.

Sorry, we (also users) cannot make it better, just tell you what is possible.

Answer:

My issue is still not resolved . See let me describe again.  I had a folder in my device Gallery and it wasn't backed up on google photos m when i opened google photos it was showing all my device photos also.  So i didn't knew if i delete it from here it will also get removed from my device Gallery.  Then when this incident took place i rushed to bin but there was nothing and all my photos were gone.  Without backup . How to get back those photos ?!

Answer:

When you delete the device copy, and there is no backup, the photo can only be recovered (when you are lucky) by some recovery software. Search for "recover..." in the Playstore to find some. I have only experience with it on a computer. Is there anyone who can recommend one ?

I do not want to pay for the extra storage, what will happen when my Google photos storage is all used up? I have plenty more photos that need to be saved and they will not all fit on Google Photos. What should I do?

Answer:

Hi Savanah,

>>>> I do not want to pay for the extra storage, what will happen when my Google photos storage is all used up?

When all of your storage is used up (approximately 15 GB), you will no longer be able to save images or send gmail messages using that account. You really want to avoid running out of space because people tend to panic when this happens and then make bad decisions (sometimes losing data or photos).

Some of your options:

Personally, I will probably end up paying for storage on Google when I hit the limit because I like having access to all of my images no matter where I am.

It is always a good idea to store important images in more than one place / tool.  My photos are in Google Photos, on my laptop, and on multiple external disk drives (not connected to any computer or network).

Question: The "free up space" is not working. I have 63 MG backed up but the app doesn't delete that pictures.

Pressing the "free up space" tab.

Are you sure that the photos are uploaded to Google Photos ? The Google Photos app will show them also when not uploaded. You can check on https://photos.google.com/ : do you see these photos there ?

Answer:

63 MB (almost nothing) or 63 GB (too much)

There are problems with the free-up space option on certain devices and Google tries to find a solution.
Probably because poeple are shooting 4K movies now with their newest devices.

Hi Chandresh,

If the deleted photos are still in the Google Photos Trash you might be able to restore them as explained in these instructions https://support.google.com/photos/answer/6128867?co=GENIE.Platform%3DAndroid&oco=1

Otherwise it’s not possible to recover photos permanently deleted from the Trash. However, you may install to your Android device a deleted photo recovery app (be sure to pick one that doesn't require rooting) https://play.google.com/store/search?q=recover%20deleted%20photos&c=apps and run a scan for anything to recover.

I understand you delete an image of your hall ticket.
However, you must have preserved the original hall ticket. Have you not?

Nevertheless, if you have deleted the image, you may find that in the bin provided you have not emptied that.
Otherwise, there is no way to get back the image if you have deleted that permanently despite warning.

Yes, I checked. I even shot an email to the user in question and they could receive it. And its not me only it seems even the user cant find any new people to invite for sharing an album other than the ones which she had  shared an album with before.

And she is an Android user.
I tried adding her from settings to share all photos added from now on automatically and I saw the error than  SSL certificate error. So it does not seem to be a user error.

Also I have checked in my account settings I have no blocked ids.

My Google Drive Subscription was cancelled due to expired credit card. I've immediately updated my payment method after receiving the email, but all my movies that were stored in 4K resolution now are only Full HD on google fotos. And all Fotos are the same resolution however they are smaller in size (for example 6.2 mb instead of 6 mb). It looks like you put my account on free during the short period you couldn't bill my credit card and compressed all fotos and movies. And now they still are compressed. Thanks for your help.

Answer:

Hi Robin,

Welcome to the Google Photos Help Forum.

It might be that you've updated all your photos and videos from Original Quality to High Quality because of which they have been compressed. You can check the quality of your photos through photos.google.com/settings.

Therefore, if the photos are stored in High Quality, you'd need to download them through the below steps:
  • Go to Google Photos.
  • Select the photo.
  • Click on More options.
  • Select Save to device
Once done, you can delete them from your Google Photos and then choose the upload size by following the below steps:
For more information, please check the Help Center Article on choosing the upload size of your photos and videos.

Hope this helps.

Best,
Emma

Answer:

Hi Emma

Many thanks for your suggestion.

I haven't changed my settings, they always were on original quality for the last years. My movies were on 4K on google photos before and since my account had been deactivated for a couple of hours (due to the expired credit card) are on full hd. If I download them to my computer they are also only full hd instead of 4K.

Answer:

Hi Robin,

Thanks for posting back.

Could you please share a screenshot with me so that I can take it forward? Also, redact any personal information while sharing the screenshot.

Looking forward to hear from you.

Best,
Emma

Answer:

Hi Emma

Don't know if this helps. Here you can see the screenshot of the information that I get of a movie that is 1920*1080 instead of 3840*2160 on google photos. I know for a fact, that this movie was in 4k before. There are dozens of movies that are only full hd now and all used to be in 4k. :-(

Thanks for your help!

Answer:

Hi Robin,

Thanks for replying.

I do understand the inconvenience you're facing as the movie of your Google Photos has been compressed. Therefore, could you please check photos.google.com/settings if High Quality was selected by mistake.

Because only the videos higher than 1080p will be resized to high-definition 1080p in High Quality.

Hope this helps.

Best,
Emma

Answer:

Hi Emma

Thanks. No, I've never changed the setting ever since using the service (payed version) and never had any problems until the account was canceled for a short period. I really am sure that the movies were compressed then.

Question: How do i put my photos back in my gallery

Hi, Angela Turner 2281

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

To bring back the pics to your phone's gallery either, you can download photos one by one.
Regrettably, there is no option to do so on a batch of photos.

Alternatively, you can install the Google One app. There is a one time option to restore up to two hundred most recent photos to the device.
However, that will not restore the local folder structure.
There is no requirement to join Google One. The option is available to everyone.
However, the method may not be helpful to recover something when the count is more than two hundred.

Or, you can arrange for a bulk download by visiting the link https://takeout.google.com/.
Select the Google Photos app for data download.
Once the file is ready, you will get an email. Access that & unzip all the attachments into your phone's gallery.

That will bring everything to your phone.

Answer:

Hi, R. Williamson

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

Have you not tried holding the picture in front of mirror?

regrettably, the Google Photos app doesn't have mirroring feature right now. However, you can do so through another app Snapseed.
To do so, please follow these steps.
  • Tao to open the photo
  • Tap Edit
  • Slide the menu bar with the leading tab "Suggestions" towards the left to reveal the option "More". Tap on that
  • Slide the menu bar with the leading tab "Markup" to reveal the option Snap seed. However, that will be available only when you have Snap Seed installed on your phone
  • Once in Snapseed, tap on the Tools option in the bottom row,
  • On the next screen, tap on "rotate"
  • Now, in the bottom bar, you will see a filled and another hollow triangle juxtaposed. Tap on that.
  • That will create a mirror image. Save this new edit.

Put pics in date order on new phone

@Annie
They should be in date-order automatically, unless it is stuff from social media merely.
But the Google Photos app always sorts from new to old and you need to create albums because these are sorted chronologically automatically and also can be used for sharing etc.

PS: you should not try to fill your phone with old photos, because that will become a drama.

Question: Adding a photo under the name

How to group a photo under it's name without being asked by Google

Hi, Arvind Joshi 3001

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

You can add a person through the following steps.

Tap to open the photo which contains unidentified faces & then slide up or tap the three dots .
If the app had failed to include some faces in that picture, then you will see a prompt "XX faces available to add".

Tap the edit icon at the extreme right edge. (An icon of a pencil ).

That will show identified faces in square boxes & their thumbnails at the bottom.
Tap on the + sign on each thumbnail.
Then the app will show you all the identified faces till that time.
You can select the right one.

If not, tap the + sign at the top right corner of the screen.
That would create a new grouping altogether.

Once created, the app may take some time to bring all the related pictures to this new grouping.
Otherwise, you can go through the collection & add the photos to the newly created group, manually, through the same steps as described above.

PS. The edit feature may not be available in some regions. If you happen to be from that, then regretfully nothing can be done.
