This has nothing to do with Google Photos directly, but if you change your adress, you may loose all mail and pictures stored in your original account and the general maintenance of your smartphone - so be very carefull.

See myaccount.google.com and log-in with your current and see what you can do there.

Again: be very carefull and also be aware that you may have to inform many about your change.

To remove pics from the phone gallery but retain the copies in Google Photos is relatively easy.

To do so, tap on the photo you want to remove & then slide up.

Below the photo, if you find the text "Delete from device", then tap on that.

If not, the photo is not there on the cloud & you need to upload that first.

If you want to take the same action in bulk, use the option "Free up space".

Then, the app backs up everything first & removes the originals from the device.

However, once the backup & sync is on, never delete the pics directly. Else, because of the sync action, you will lose both the one on the phone and the cloud at the same time.

Hi, Happen to stumble across the response you sent to me so long ago. My issue was with Google+ and it saying that Album Archieve pictures had aG and see all stated next to it. Don't know what they would mean, and if they were"see all" to everyone ( although, I truly hope not!). When you upload photos on Google photos you have an option of uploading it on high quality or original quality.

If you upload photos on High quality it get compress.

So one you click on free up space your photos get deleted from your phone memory which are uploaded to Google photos.

I haven't heard about "ipeg" may be you are talking about "jpeg". if yes then it's a easy process just head to playstore and search for jpeg converter there are so many apps available that can make your jpg/png/TIFF/RIF to jpeg format. Follow these steps it will be helpfull.

ipeg = jpeg = jpg, so the receiver must have a very old phone or computer.

Unless your files are abnormal - maybe because your camera was set on heic accidently (and hevc for movies).

Such files are more compressed then jp(e)g and have bad quality and are not compatible for everyone.

Then it becomes more difficult indeed.

Check if you move up a recent picture - then you will see the technical file information at the bottom.

Sorry you are having trouble. Maybe you have resolved it by now.

It is possible that nobody has responded to your post because it is very confusing to straighten out issues like you describe without some discussion and incremental changes.

Since you are paying for storage, if is my understanding that you qualify for Google One support - Note: I have never used this so my understanding is somewhat limited.

Anyway, your problem seems to be perfectly suited for that type of help. Note: Don't expect it to be something that takes 5 minutes (you will almost certainly have to make some changes based on what they tell you).

Also, I highly recommend that you edit your original message to removed your email addresses. Leaving them out in the public internet is inviting robots to scrape them up and result in spam in the long term.

It is always a good idea to store important images in more than one place / tool. My photos are in Google Photos, on my laptop, and on multiple external disk drives (not connected to any computer or network).
