I am trying to delete all my photos from Google Photos (as they take up too much Drive storage) and use solely iCloud storage for my photos. However, I don't want deleting all my photos on Google to delete all my photos on iCloud as well. Would this automatically happen? I'm not sure if they're synced or not but it seems like they might be. If this would automatically happen, how can I 'disconnect' my Google Photos and iCloud photo storage so deleting them on Google would not mean they'd delete on iCloud as well?

The safest way to delete from Google Photos is to delete the Google Photos app and delete the photos at https://photos.google.com/

I am trying to have multiple accounts on google foto without having to deal with photos that go from one account to another.

What I meant is that I created a new e-mail adress hoping that I can have my bunch of photos divided in 2-5 pieces (one piece per account) and that I will manage each account separately on the same phone without new pictures showing in the old accounts even if the backup is off.

Here's the "story" and the steps that I want to make:

I have one account since 2019(or longer) and as you can guess it's almost full.

I tried to make a 2nd account but ofcourse the pictures I had in the gallery rushed in (and I repeat, even if the backup setting was off on that acc). Then I tried to make the second account a partener account then tried to send some photos from the acc1 to acc2 and then download them to acc2.

I wanted to make sure that none of them will be deleted from the 2nt acc if I deleted any of them from the acc1 so I took some useless screenshots, tried to send them to the acc2, then save them, and then delete them from acc1 to see if they will be deleted from acc2 too (wich I completely did not want to happen).

At first it seemed like the screenshots weren't dissapearing from the 2nd acc but they did after 30 seconds or so. This thing made me very worried so I wanted to talk with someone from google beside making any mistakes.

 

My phone's storage it's 96% (or more) full and I want to make it somewhere between 60% and 80%, but I have to start this from my photos because I have many from online school and events and the only thing that helped me with my photos was google foto.. before the unlimited storcage dissapeared. 

And that's why I stopped making backup for my photos (I had only one account and it was almost full) wich made my storcage become more and more full.

I even tried to find simple and subjective answers for my problem here but i didn't..

(So please don't tell me about other apps for photos or to swich to high cuality photos or that it's very hard to have multiple accounts on google foto managed differently because.....free unlimited storcage might be gone... but I will stay with google foto)

So here are the steps I want to make:

•Make 2-5 accounts for google foto

•Divide all my photos from my first account in 2-5

•Send each divided part to each account and save it there

•Manage each account differently

•Turn the backup off for all the accounts beside acc1

•Stop the new pictures I take from being showed on the other accounts

•Keep using the first account & bring my phone back to normal

That creates space to capture new photos.
Restoring the backed up pictures would be defeating the whole purpose of the free up space exercise.

 

To bring back the pics to your phone's gallery either, you can download photos one by one.

Regrettably, there is no option to do so on a batch of photos.

 

Or, you can arrange for a bulk download by visiting the link https://takeout.google.com/.

Select the Google Photos app for data download.

Once the file is ready, you will get an email. Access that & unzip all the attachments into your phone's gallery.

 

That will bring everything to your phone.

You don't need to go into problematic download procedures because your photos are sorted on dates in the main Photos-page in the Google Photos app - that's why you have chosen to use Google for safety backup. And you simply can see the exaxt date and time when you move-up a single picture a bit like shown below on the forumsite: 

PS: it always are pictures downloaded from social media which have all original data stripped which are causing problems in the chronology, but that is not your fault: blame Whatsapp etc. 

PS: it can be more comfortable to view the pictures sorted by day or month just by moving two fingers on screen together to get smaller thumbnails.

The main stream always is sorted from new to old - you can not change that. 

But if you select a series and hit the + right-up, you can create an album which you can give a logic name and that album will be sorted chronologically by default. And that is what you need for a normal slideshow.

Apart form unlocking the phone you also need to give your permission for datatransfer - you can find that option in the mainsettings - probably under Storage when the phone is connected.

PS: if your HP desktop is a Windows-10, you can use its Photos-app for importing from any source and that is quite comfortable. At first time use you need to decide about a destination folder, so best to make a new folder named Phone in the main Pictures folder before start. And you must decide about erasing the photo on phone after import - but I would advise not to do that.

Although there are multiple ways to transfer the content from the internal memory of the phone to an SD card, doing so through Google Photos allows retaining the backup and sync aspect.

Please follow the steps below to achieve the transfer.

• Open Google Photos.
• Tab Library.
• Tap the desired folder under Photos on the device like Camera, Screenshots etc.
• Select photos by long pressing then tap others after the tick confirms the first selection
• You can also long-press and stroke down while still in a pressed condition, to select a batch.
• Next, tap the 3 dot menu top right.
• Tap Move to folder.
• Tap New SD folder, type a folder name then tap Create.

Note that if the photos are backed up to Google Photos this will not remove them from the Photos, and even if the new folder is not selected for Backup & sync any contents will still be deleted if you delete that using the Google Photos app.

I uploaded 1080p Videos from my Gopro using "high quality". When downloading a full album or downloading a single video via Edge Browser, I´m only getting a very low quality video file. 

Example:

Original: 139mb, 50fps, 30035kbps

Web (info pane): 112mb

Downloaded file: 21mb, 25fps, 4432kbps -> significantly lower quality when watching the video

After some playing around I managed to download the 112mb file using Chrome browser: 112mb, 50fps, 24836kbps (no noticeable quality loss). This only works when I download a single video. However, when I download an Album, or select multiple videos for download, I only get the low quality reduced file size.

How can I download multiple videos in full quality?

You can change the quality of your photos and videos to fit your preferences, or to free up storage space in your Google Drive.

1. On your computer, open photos.google.com/settings.
2. Select high quality or original quality for future uploads.

High quality

• Unlimited free storage.
• Photos are compressed to save space. If a photo is larger than 16MP, it will be resized to 16MP.
• You can print good quality 16MP photos in sizes up to 24 inches x 16 inches.
• Videos higher than 1080p will be resized to high-definition 1080p. A video with 1080p or less will look close to the original.

Original quality

• Limited free storage that uses storage in your Google Account. Check your storage here. If you go over this limit, learn how to buy storage.

Unfortunately there's no way to download multiple photos at one time in the Google Photos app. If this is a shared album, you can select multiple photos and select the icon of a cloud with a line through it in order to add them to your library. If this is your album, you can go to https://takeout.google.com/settings/takeout, select Google Photos, then select only this album to download it. It will download a zip file which will contain all the images in that album.

If you would like you can submit feedback to the Photos Team:

1. Open the Google Photos app on a mobile device or go to photos.google.com using a computer .
2. At the top left, touch or click the menu icon  > Help & Feedback.
3. Touch or click Feedback.

I am having this same problem. When I download an album containing video and photos, all of which are uploaded at original quality, the video quality is reduced by 3/4th and images by 1/2. Is the only solution to download every single file individually? Talk about terrible work flow.
