However, if you have activated OK Google or Hey Google detection on your phone, the easiest way would be to say, "Hey Google take a screenshot". Then the Google assistant will do the work for you. However, once the screenshot is ready, upload that through Google Photos.

Nevertheless, the following are the standard methods to take a screenshot.

Please review the following information in case there are any options you haven't yet tried.

Check archive folder

1. Check your online account - photos.google.com

If your photos were successfully uploaded to your online Google Photos account they may be available there. Try visiting photos.google.com and searching for them. If you have more than on

2. Check the trash - photos.google.com/trash

Once you delete photos from your Google Photos account, they're moved to Trash for the next 60 days. If you deleted them by mistake you can always restore them from the Trash folder within those 60 days. Here's the link explaining how to recover them from Trash. If you have more than one Google account, check the trash for all of them.

If you accessed the Trash and manually sent the photos for permanent deletion, or if the 60 days expired, there is no way to recover them from Google Photos.

3. Review other options

if you previously used Picasa, visit picasaweb.google.com and search for your photos.
have you made any backups of the photos on your phone, camera, computer, or elsewhere?
there is a small chance that you can restore the photos using a recover deleted photos app (Android). I haven't used them myself so have no specific recommendations. There may well be more app options if you visit the appropriate app store and try other search terms. I don't see any similar apps on the iOS store, but you could check yourself.
you can contact the Google Drive support team to see if any deleted files may be recovered. Use the Google Drive contact form, click Missing or deleted files, select a contact option, and be sure to tell them you permanently deleted files in Google Drive.
If you ever shared the photos with anyone else, it's possible they may have a copy they could share back or send to you.

I've been moving (not copying) photos from device's internal memory to an SD card (from internal memory/DCIM/camera to SD card/DCIM/camera and same with folders such as screenshots), using the device's native 'My Files' app.

I was wondering whether Photos would create duplicates, change the photo date or whatever else, so I've checked Photos' upload immediately after I've moved some photos. I saw it being queued and uploaded (even though it already existed on Photos, being an old photo that was simply moved now)

but then I was relieved to see in Photos, on that date, only one copy of the said photo.

So far so good!

My question is - with the new storage policy in place since June - Will the old photos that are moved to the SD card and re-backed up in Photos now count towards the storage limit?

If you want to build an empire, you should not use Google at all, but just stay at Microsoft: Windows + OneDrive is a very good combination - much better for photos then Google Drive or Dropbox.

Not clear if you are talking about just a few or thousands?

You can do that on your private site at photos.google.com in the Chrome-app, but much more comfortable in the browser on your laptop if you have one.

Open a photo and then open its infopanel and then you will see the pencil next to the date.

Advise:

Add them to yearalbums and manually drag them in the right order after choosing Edit album.
Give them artificial dates, like Januar 1, 1970
Give them seguential times 09:00 09:05 09:10 to keep them in the right order.
Give them a the same timezone.
Use the editor to improve them.

Not more then 100 per day :-)

If it are just a few, you don't need yearalbums and then you can use more precise dates and timezones.

PS: due to inferior Google design all your timeconsuming efforts will get lost if downloaded to computer or other device later - then they will have your random scanning dates again. How dare they :-(

Thanks for the additional information, here is my understanding of the situation and what can be done.

The data stored in a Google account such as the photos in Google Photos, either a G Suite account or a personal Google account, can be accessed only by signing into the account. If you delete the account you lose all the data and any paid products or services you may have purchased like Google Drive storage space for your photos.

That said, something might still be done.

Within 20 days of the deletion of a G Suite account it might be possible for the domain administrator to recover it, and hence possibly recover the data it contains such as the photos. Here is how the G Suite help center explains the recovery process https://support.google.com/a/answer/1397578 Therefore, to have any chance you have to act fast and try the recovery process.

We are unfortunately unable to help you further here with the G Suite account recovery, for a couple of reasons.

The first is here we focus only on Google Photos itself, not G Suite account deletion or recovery issues. The other reason is this is a user-to-user help community and we are volunteers helping other users, not Google employees, and we don't have the information and tools the G Suite support team has. You can get more specific assistance on the account recovery also in the G Suite Help Forum https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!forum/apps as I suggested earlier.

I'm really sorry but there's nothing else we can do here for your deleted G Suite account, not even if you paid for Google Photos storage space.

I did one more mistake in the morning by registering new account same as an old account(as I want to contact them using chat as no other way I found to reach them) and when I contact Gsuite help desk they told since you already signup with the same account so your old data has been wiped out.

I understand that I did mistake but I want to know while purging data they must have put in to trash/bin somewhere so using any personal verification where I can download my photos as new account created only a few hours back. would be helpful. I am losing my hope as day by day.

Hi Lakshamn,

Once you delete them from the trash they are permanently deleted; they are only recoverable in 60 days if they are still in the trash.

You can try a few options that might help recover some but not 100% guaranteed.

Contact the Google Drive team and say you want to recover files - click on the contact us option on this link.
You can try using a third party photo recovery app at this point to try to recover some of what was lost from your phone - just type photo recovery into the play store and see what options are available. I can't recommend any as haven't used one personally but some people do have success that way.

What is Google's naming convention for Pixel cellphone photos? Why do some of my photos get straightforward file names in the format of IMG_[8-character date field]_[6-digit sequential number]. The others get assigned names MVIMG followed by the date and number fields. What is the difference? And yet others get file names with the word "COVER" in caps plus long numerical strings, with or without the word "BURST." (I do not knowingly use the burst mode when shooting, but perhaps I actuate it unintentionally somehow.) And then some photos get the word "PORTRAIT" plus long strings of numbers, with or without COVER and/or BURST. The file names can become absurdly long and difficult to read on a phone. But so far, i have been unable to find anywhere that this bizarre naming scheme is explained.

Aha, now is more clear that they are generated by special modes of your Pixel-camera and does not have anything to do with normal filename conventions like (IMG_)20190713_184546 (date_time).

So you have to look into the Pixel-manual (downloadable) what the abbreviations mean.

Because Google Photos does not sort on filenames or numbers, but on shooting dates + times + timezones only, such files will be shown neatly between normal pictures as far as Google Photos is compatible with their technical format. But at downloading to computer, you may have problems with viewing them correctly.
