I deleted a picture it was in google photos trash and within few hours i went to trash and selected the picture i clicked delete and deny still my picture disappeared from the trash section.
Not sure why this happened.

Answer:

When you attempt to delete individual pictures from the trash bin, or to manually empty all contents inside the trash bin in Google Photos, a warning message box appears that explains you are about to permanently delete those pictures and videos. If you choose to proceed anyway, there is nothing that any of the volunteers in this forum can do to help you recover your pictures.

Answer:

This is what comes when i try deleting from the trash and whn i hit deny the pictures disappear.

Answer:

I haven't seen that popup before. Is it possible that it's part of your device OS, asking your permission to allow this particular app to delete a file? When you choose Deny, it makes sense that the picture file disappears from the Photos app, because you told the OS this app isn't allowed to delete it.

You should use a file browser to navigate to the Camera or DCIM folder (or wherever the image file is on your local storage) and see if it's still there. If it is, that would confirm the popup is from your OS and the Deny option is you telling the device not to allow Photos to delete files.

Also, have you tried choosing Allow? What happens then? Choosing Allow should probably just let Photos continue the way it's intended to. When you try to delete from the Trash bin, this is what it normally looks like (notice the confirmation message at the bottom).

Question: How do i get photos sent to me off my gmail and into my gallerry

I jave photos that were sent to me in my gmail how do i put them in my gallery

Hi Rita,

Welcome to the Google Photos Help Forum.

Just to let you know, you have to download the photos from your Gmail to your device to access them through your Google Photos.

Once done, sync that particular folder to Google Photos by the following steps:
  • On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Photos app .
  • Sign in to your Google Account.
  • At the top, tap Menu.
  • Click on Device folders.
  • Select the folder and tap Back up & sync on.
For more information, please check the Help Center Article on backing up photos & videos.

Hope this helps.

Best,
Emma

Good day! I have only 5.7 gigabytes used in the storage. I don't have any shared files. But when using Google checkout, I get two files with sizes of 49 and 12 gigabytes. I believe that this is wrong, and I do not know what can be done about it, in my opinion the data is too large.

Pls, help

Answer:

Hello Nancy,

The 5.7 GB is only the size excluding free High quality uploads prior to June. If you have created albums they are also output although they only appear once in the storage as the album only contains a link to the photo but also downloads the original via Takeout.

You can use the years albums as per below to get a more accurate value of storage used.
  1. Go to Google Dashboard and expand the Photos tab then left click on the 3 dots and select Download data. If you wait a minute until 'All photos albums included' pops up then click on it and deselect all.
  2. Then scroll down and select all the year albums Photos from 2020 etc.  You will now get a single copy of each photo, one json file per photo, and one filename-edited.jpg for each edited photo.
  3. The contents of all manually created albums will also be in the year folders so there is no need to include them because they do not use storage allocation. An album is a collection of links pointing to the year album copies.
  4. Continue to create the download and wait for completion then you will see a summary of the Takeout which will give you the total size. For a quick estimate choose the 50GB output size, there is no need to download unless you want to create an offline archive for security.

Peter

The button to adjust the playback quality of a video is non-clickable in the web player for google photos. The click registers on the video instead and starts playing the next video.

This same problem has been reported here over a year ago and I have personally reported it via app feedback multiple times over the previous 2 years. Other reports:

The problem occurs regardless of browser or resolution of my monitor. (have tried various window sizes, ms edge, chrome, firefox). It wouldn't be so much of an issue if videos played back in 1080p to begin with - but it always defaults to 480p despite my 4K monitor and 100mbps connection. This is possibly another bug, or it is broken by design to save Google bandwidth (although this seems unlikely).

A workaround is to use keyboard navigation with space-bar to select the desired resolution.  But it is quite ridiculous such an obvious bug has been in a highly used product for 2 years+, despite being regularly reported.

I'd comment on the other posts but for some reason everything is locked in this forum.

Unfortunately, once Photos are deleted from trash there is no way to retrieve them back :(

Hi
My Google photos is no longer showing new photos added to Google drive, even with the setting enabled. It was working until about a week ago and I don't think I've changed anything. I have checked the account and it is not a school or work account.
Stephen

Answer:

Hi Stephen, the sync of uploaded photos to an existing folder in the Google Photos folder has stopped working. We have submitted a bug report to Google and await a response.  In the mean time, you can work round the problem by creating a new folder and moving you uploaded photos to it. Example of my fix is to create a Photo Uploads folder as per below.  It is a good idea to keep this format so that uploaded photos are kept separate.
Regards,
Peter

Answer:

I will let you know when we get an answer, but it might be 'by design' for some reason we are not aware of. A number of us have proposed it is made read only due to the confusion it causes because photos placed there by Google Photos do not use quota, but uploaded photos do use quota. I believe they are best kept separate.

Answer:

Thanks. I hope not. I find it a very useful feature.

A further question - I can see the newly uploaded photos in Google photos my browser but not in the Google photos iOS app. Do I just need to wait, or do something to update the app or is this a problem?

Answer:

Not sure what the status of syncing across devices is, I have an iPad which is behaving OK but I don't normally have the sync from Drive enabled. I will paste a previous canned response below, if the behaviour you are seeing is consistent please raise a new question
================================
If you can see your photos on your MacBook then they are safely backed up and it looks like there is a sync problem with the iPhone.  Please delete Google Photos, restart your phone, then install Google Photos again and wait for 'getting photos' to finish.  There are ongoing bugs being worked regarding 'Asynchronous Photos' if this fixes the problem for you, please submit feedback via the app and enable the option to include a copy of the logs.  If you can title your feedback 'Asynchronous Photos between web and iOS' it will add to the numbers so that this work can be prioritised.
=========
or If there are only one or two images involved you can do a null date change online
  1. With the device open in Photos, go online using a browser
  2. Select the online copy of the photos, either singly or in batch
  3. Choose the 3 dot menu option Edit date & time:> Shift dates & times:> Preview:> Save (or just save if a single photo)
  4. Depending on the device when hitting Save resets the device copies appearing
  5. If it doesn't happen automatically, close the re-open Photos again

Question: I have deleted in bin my photo and video by mistake i want recover it

i have by mistake i delete my photo and video in a bin i want recover it

Hi, Vishal Mahour

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

Regretf, once a user deletes something permanently despite a warning message or allows the content to time out in the bin, Google doesn't maintain any backup.
There is no way to get back the content through Google Photos.

Nevertheless, you may install to your Android device a deleted photo recovery app (be sure to not pick one that requires rooting) https://play.google.com/store/search?q=recover%20deleted%20photos&c=apps;
and run a scan for anything to recover.

Answer:

Hi,  Vishal Mahour

Thanks for your reply

Have you installed some photo recovery app?

Nevertheless, if your delete action was in distant past, the OS on the phone may have overwritten in the space marked for deletion.
If so, regretfully, you have lost the pics forevermore.

  • Alternatively, you can use the cast feature & show the content on your phone through the TV.

Question: Hi, I want to find permanently deleted photos

I need find NIC Photo

Hello duleeka sandamali,

Please review the following information in case there are any options you haven't yet tried.

1. Check your online account - photos.google.com
If your photos were successfully uploaded to your online Google Photos account they may be available there. Try visiting photos.google.com and searching for them. If you have more than on
2. Check the trash - photos.google.com/trash
Once you delete photos from your Google Photos account, they're moved to Trash for the next 60 days. If you deleted them by mistake you can always restore them from the Trash folder within those 60 days. Here's the link explaining how to recover them from Trash. If you have more than one Google account, check the trash for all of them.

If you accessed the Trash and manually sent the photos for permanent deletion, or if the 60 days expired, there is no way to recover them from Google Photos

3. Review other options
  • if you previously used Picasa, visit picasaweb.google.com and search for your photos.
  • have you made any backups of the photos on your phone, camera, computer, or elsewhere?
  • there is a small chance that you can restore the photos using a recover deleted photos app (Android). I haven't used them myself so have no specific recommendations. There may well be more app options if you visit the appropriate app store and try other search terms. I don't see any similar apps on the iOS store, but you could check yourself.
  • you can contact the Google Drive support team to see if any deleted files may be recovered. Use the Google Drive contact form, click Missing or deleted files, select a contact option, and be sure to tell them you permanently deleted files in Google Drive.
  • If you ever shared the photos with anyone else, it's possible they may have a copy they could share back or send to you.
 Thanks.
