A bit strange that a photo taken with your own Samsung needs to be rotated. 
Or did you have swithed-off automatic screenrotation accidently? 
Else you need to start the editor and then choose crop and then you will find the rotate button.

If the automatic system doesn't allow you to add other music, then this prohibition cannot be bypassed.  
There is a copyright for every melody and lyrics.  
All large IT companies in any country in the world are required to comply with them.  
Therefore, in cases where a song or music is copyrighted, you will not be able to freely use it.

I purchased this phone in late June it hasn't been a good month I downloaded the songs that I had previously to this phone I have used my songs before I'm sure it's not a copyright deal they all worked fine never had a problem like this before. I have turned off back up and sync for certain device folders. But, when I freed up space,  all but 5 of the photos in those folders got uploaded to google photos and got deleted from my phone. I downloaded those photos again and moved them to the same device folder that had "back up and sync" turned off. Everything was fine for a day. The next day, I got the option to free up space, so I did. And what do you know, those photos, which I explicitly selected to not be uploaded, got uploaded again, except for the 5 photos. What am I doing wrong?

Photos moved to another folder stay synced. 
You hardly can prevent that - then you should switch-off backup in general before shooting a new series and then move certain new pictures to a neutral folder and then you can switch-on backup again. 
Maybe not the full truth, so just try.

1 GB is not very large, but you may have too less free space on your phone. So check that. 
You also can try to do this when you open photos.google.com in the Chromebrowser. 
Select the video and then find the downloadoption under the 3 dots.

But you maybe lucky that most still are in the Recently deleted "folder" in the Apple Photos app and can be recovered from there. But then they will get backupped towards Google again most likely.

You have to explain the cause of these "look-alikes" because Google Photos rejects exact duplicates. 
So they must have been caused by some action of you which introduces timy differences which Google sees as a different file. Or you often press the shutter a bit too long and then you get so-called bursts: almost identical pics shooted at very short intervals. But then you can keep the best one and trash the rest. 
So come back to explain.

PS: be aware that the Google app always shows what you have on phone and if the content at photos.google.com is identical for the account used, you will see no duplicates.

Please review the following information in case there are any options you haven't yet tried. 

1. Check your online account - photos.google.com
If your photos were successfully uploaded to your online Google Photos account they may be available there. Try visiting photos.google.com and searching for them. If you have more than on
2. Check the trash - photos.google.com/trash
Once you delete photos from your Google Photos account, they're moved to Trash for the next 60 days. If you deleted them by mistake you can always restore them from the Trash folder within those 60 days. Here's the link explaining how to recover them from Trash. If you have more than one Google account, check the trash for all of them.
 
If you accessed the Trash and manually sent the photos for permanent deletion, or if the 60 days expired, there is no way to recover them from Google Photos. 
 
3. Review other options
  • if you previously used Picasa, visit picasaweb.google.com and search for your photos. 
  • have you made any backups of the photos on your phone, camera, computer, or elsewhere?
  • there is a small chance that you can restore the photos using a recover deleted photos app (Android). I haven't used them myself so have no specific recommendations. There may well be more app options if you visit the appropriate app store and try other search terms. I don't see any similar apps on the iOS store, but you could check yourself. 
  • you can contact the Google Drive support team to see if any deleted files may be recovered. Use the Google Drive contact form, click Missing or deleted files, select a contact option, and be sure to tell them you permanently deleted files in Google Drive.
  • If you ever shared the photos with anyone else, it's possible they may have a copy they could share back or send to you.

To bring back the pics to your phone's gallery, either, you can download photos one by one.
Regrettably, there is no option to do so on a batch of photos.
 
Alternatively, you can install the Google One app there is a one time option to restore up to two hundred most recent photos to the device.
However, the local folder structure can not be restored.
To do so, there is no requirement to join Google One, the option is available to everyone.
However, the method may not be effective to recover something when the count is more than two hundred.
 
Or, you can arrange for a bulk download by visiting the link https://takeout.google.com/
Select the Google Photos app for data download.
Once the file is ready, you will get an email. Access that & unzip all the attachments into your phone's gallery.
 
That will bring everything to your phone.

  4. Media auto-downloaded When connected on WiFi is a typical setting and should show at minimum, Photos

  2. Media visibility switched on

How do you edit a photos actual date it was taken ? I took pictures with a new camera and the date was not set, I added those pictures to my google photos and the are not in chronological order because of that. I dont know how to change the picture date.

On the site photos.google.com in the Chromebrowser: then you can shift a selected group to a new date & time & timezone via the 3 dots and then Edit date & time. 
 
PS: these corrected dates & times are valid in Google Photos only - if downloaded to computer they still will have their wrong settings - a very basic mistake already made in 2005 very often.

Thank you kindly, I was able to modify the date by going on my laptop on google photos, selectin the '' Info'' option on the photo and edit the date, it automatically sorted in date order with my other pics :)

When viewing photos in an album, I can't see the edit features like crop, etc: there is only share, like, comment and lens. I can only see the edit features when viewing the photos from the 'Photos' section of the app.

How to crop a picture viewed in an album directly without having to scroll through all photos in the Photos section to find the particular photo again?

For example, I have a few hundred curated photos from my wife and I, of the last 3 weeks of holidays, with family members, kids, and beach activities. Out of these, i do an album of 50 photos, and out of these i want to select 5 or 10 that i want to get printed, again in an album. I want to edit and crop the pictures to print, but there seem no way to edit the photo at hand in an album. Scrolling through all the pictures is tedious and repetitive when done for each photos to print, in the end i postpone this task, the pix don't get shared, and don't get printed.

In short: this is not unless in a shared album.
Then you need to download the album into that account first. 
 
PS: in fact albums contain no pictures, just reference to the mainstream. So any edits are reflected in the mainstream. So it not a bad idea to edit in a shared album, but after downloading. And if that album is not needed anymore, you can select and trash the pictures in the album - then they also will get removed from the mainstream in that account.

Because I don't have any problems on our iPad, it is really hard to guess what is wrong at your side unless you app is very old (mine is at 5.49 and you can see that number at the bottom of the settings page under your profile circle). There also are some strange rumours after the 14.6 Apple update. 
So if everything looks okay, I have no solution and you should report this problem via the feedback option under your profile circle, because that it has something to do with a bug in the app. 
 
As a workaround for the moment, you also can edit on the site photos.google.com in Safari when you log-in with your Gmail-account.

For some strange reason I got the impression that you were on iPhone :-)
But also in the Android-Photos-app i have no problems to edit in an album.
 
You also can open the website in the Chromebrowser on Android, but then I can't edit at all - perhaps that is your confusion, because a website is no app and apparently the Chrome-app is not that capable as Chrome on your laptop.

Okay Jean-Daniel, but don't expect an answer from Google and no fast action action either. But at one unknown day in future the problem suddenly will be solved. 
So just restrict to editing in the webbrowser on laptop - that's is much more accurate also.

Now I have seen your problem too in the Android-app, but in the few albums I have shared with others only - not in a normal album. The logic behind this difference is not clear to me and probably not explained anywhere. You can start to create an  unshared album, then do all edits needed (including typing text) and then setup the sharing via Options under the 3 dots.

Like you said, I could reproduce it: the edit feature is there until you share the picture with someone. I later removed this person and the edit widget reappeared from the UI. To recap, when selecting a picture in an album, here are the widgets available in a horizontal row at the bottom:
- when album is not shared with anyone,  share, edit and lens 
- when album is shared: share, comment, like, and lens
It looks like there is not enough space in the bottom row of widgets, when sharing and the edit button is removed to leave space for the sharing pictures, or something.

But even if you share without all options open, there only are two icons at the bottom and the the edit icon is not there. So you simply have to accept that for the time being and almost nobody will complain about. 
In my library everything is deleted or edited, so I never have the problem with sharing unedited pictures.
