There is currently not at a way to manually add a person to the face grouping.

Enable this settings,

Launch Google Photos Left menu > Settings > Group similar faces Make sure face grouping is turned on (dot will be blue)

Then keep taking photos of people you want to show. Over time, the system will learn frequent faces and start to group them.

This error ONLY shows when I try to include any photo that has been taken on the Pixel 2 using the portrait mode. I can create movies fine when I use videos or photos taken on the phone or DSLR, however if one of more portrait pics are included it displays the error. The portrait mode creates 2 photos, one normal the other blurred background. I have gone through all the portrait photos and only kept one in case this was confusing Google photos. I have uploaded a Screenshot. Any help appreciated.

I do understand the inconvenience as you're unable to edit the movie of your Google Photos. Therefore, I recommend trying the steps below in sequence, this may help in fixing the issue:

Make sure your device is up-to-date.
Make sure the App is up-to-date.
Try restarting the App through the following steps:

Go to your App Settings.
Click stop on the afflicted App with the Force Stop button.
Wait a few seconds to make sure the App has stopped processing, and then attempt to re-start it.

Close the background running apps through the following steps:

Go to your App Settings.
Display the Active Apps on your device.
Select the App you wish to close and Force Stop it.
Repeat this step with all active Apps.

Try clearing your App cache through the following steps:

Tap the system Settings tab on the main screen of your device.
Tap the General section of settings that is on the far right.
Tap Storage in the General tab.
Clear the cache data once storage calculates the data.
Back out of the storage section.
Tap Applications and find the application in question.
Tap the application and clear the cache (if available).

Cruel story, but in December 2014 Google Photos did not exist at all. So maybe they got uploaded to another Google account at Google+ but G+ does not exist anymore. Etc. etc.

If you did have type her name in the infofield below the picture, it will be very hard to find that specific photo back. Try to log-in to https://get.google.com/albumarchive with all Google-accounts you can remember. But do this in the incognito window to prevent interference with actual accounts.

I shld have been more specific. I transferred photos from my camera to my tablet via an Image app and when I edited the photos, the time changed to my tablet`s time (an hour difference). I don't see an option to change the time on those Google photos in my tablet photo gallery. Perhaps I will be able to change the time from my computer when I get home?

I have since adjusted the time on the tablet so now when I edit the pics I transfer from my Panasonic Image app, the time doesn't change.

That remains on the cloud only.

Google Photos arranges the pics as per this edited time.

In short, the image carries two records. The first one embedded by your camera & the second the edit through Google Photos.

Addition to some album simply creates a tag to club the photo under that album. However, the photo continues to remain in the gallery.

Were the photos recently deleted? If so, you should be able to recover them from the trash within Google Photos

Touch and hold the photo or video you want to restore.

If a deleted photo or video isn't in trash, you can’t restore it. You won't be able to restore a photo if:

The free up option removes the originals of backed up pics from the phone.
That creates space to capture new photos.
Restoring the backed up pictures would be defeating the whole purpose of the free up space exercise.

To bring back the pics to your phone's gallery either, you can download photos one by one.

Regrettably, there is no option to do so on a batch of photos.

Alternatively, you can install the Google One app. There is a one time option to restore up to two hundred most recent photos to the device.

However, that will not restore the local folder structure.

There is no requirement to join Google One. The option is available to everyone.

However, the method may not be helpful to recover something when the count is more than two hundred.

Or, you can arrange for a bulk download by visiting the link https://takeout.google.com/.
