Make downloads available when offline

Hi, Nick Gross

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

Downloads are stored in the phones memory. You should be able to find those even when offline.
I suggest you use some file explorer app to locate the downloads.

Answer:

Hi Sidharth, thanks for posting.
You can add, remove, or change a face label when Google Photos labels the wrong person or pet.
  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Photos app .
  2. Select a photo  tap More .
  3. Scroll to “People” and tap Edit .
  4. Remove, add, or change a label:
    • To remove a label: On the face label, tap Remove .
    • To add a label: Under “Available to add,” tap Add  on the face label. Then, in the photo, tap a label to add, or select Add  to create a new label.
    • To change a label:
      1. On the face label, tap Remove .
      2. Under “Available to add,” on the face label, tap Add .
      3. Select a face label to add.
  5. Tap Done.

I hope this helps!

I've deleted my photos from google photos and also from the trash yesterday mistakenly. Please help me to recover them. Those are so important to me. Please help me recover them. I don't even need all photos just yesterday photos only. Please help me recover them.

Answer:

Hi Ratnakar, thanks for posting.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to recover photos or videos permanently deleted from the Google Photos Trash. You may consider installing a deleted video recovery app from the Play Store and running a scan, but that is certainly advice to use with your own judgement and risk.

Sorry I don't have a better answer for you.

Hi, Gary Van Zyl

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

Google Photos doesn't support captions.

Further, Google Photos is for storing, enjoying and sharing personal memories. Google Photos is not intended to store or serve media such as photos or videos that aren't personal.

What you are looking for playing a video that was made commercially & dubbed in multiple languages.
You will have to look for some proprietary video player to do so.

I'm trying to add device folders to Google photos but when I go to hamburger menu ➡ device folders it doesn't list all folders.

It lists:
Camera /sdcard/DCIM/Camera
Office lens /sdcard/Pictures/Office Lens
Screenshots /sdcard/Pictures/Screenshots
Pictures
Instagram /sdcard/Pictures/Instagram
Download

It doesn't list (some examples)
Facebook /sdcard/Pictures/Facebook
Photoscan /sdcard/DCIM/Photoscan
Snapseed /sdcard/Snapseed

1) I've tried the clear data a d clear cache options
2) I've checked the folder permissions and they all have the same permissions (readable, writable ➡ / hidden ➡ )

I know there are some posts related or exactly about this issue but no one has a proper answer.

Answer:

Hi Leonardo, do you have photos in those folders, they won't show if you don't.

If you do then I have no idea and invite anyone who knows to chime in,

Peter

Answer:

Yes, those folders do have pictures. I even created a folder named test and copied 1 photo from another folder that was showing up in Google photos but for some reason Google photos didn't detect this test folder as well.

Question: Aaron deleted photos

Hello Vicky Morrison,

Please review the following information in case there are any options you haven't yet tried.

1. Check your online account - photos.google.com
If your photos were successfully uploaded to your online Google Photos account they may be available there. Try visiting photos.google.com and searching for them. If you have more than on
2. Check the trash - photos.google.com/trash
Once you delete photos from your Google Photos account, they're moved to Trash for the next 60 days. If you deleted them by mistake you can always restore them from the Trash folder within those 60 days. Here's the link explaining how to recover them from Trash. If you have more than one Google account, check the trash for all of them.

If you accessed the Trash and manually sent the photos for permanent deletion, or if the 60 days expired, there is no way to recover them from Google Photos

3. Review other options
  • if you previously used Picasa, visit picasaweb.google.com and search for your photos.
  • have you made any backups of the photos on your phone, camera, computer, or elsewhere?
  • there is a small chance that you can restore the photos using a recover deleted photos app (Android). I haven't used them myself so have no specific recommendations. There may well be more app options if you visit the appropriate app store and try other search terms. I don't see any similar apps on the iOS store, but you could check yourself.
  • you can contact the Google Drive support team to see if any deleted files may be recovered. Use the Google Drive contact form, click Missing or deleted files, select a contact option, and be sure to tell them you permanently deleted files in Google Drive.
  • If you ever shared the photos with anyone else, it's possible they may have a copy they could share back or send to you.
 Thanks.

Question: Picture go to my computer off my phone.

Why o why "girls" never tell what they are doing exactly?
So we need start guessing around.
  1. Open photos.google.com in the browser (Edge or Chrome) of your computer and log-in with the gmail-account used on your phone.
  2. Select one picture by clicking in the upper left corner.
  3. Select Download under the 3 dots right-up
  4. Then the file will land in the Downloadsfolder of your computer and can be dragged to the normal Pictures-folder.
  5. That's all
Maybe you have done exactly the same, but you don't see the file.
Then you have a lovely heic-file from some iPhone-user and you need to install a Heic-plugin from Microsoft in the Windows Store to be able to view them (assuming you have a Windows-10 computer).

PS: of course you can select more then one picture, but then you get a zip and then I have to explain what to do next. Etc.

Now- with that out of the way let's deal with Susie76's post in  Google Photos.
Please note that, due to a variety of reasons, not all files can be recovered - but you can try!

Question: How do I backup my photo

Hi Sandeep and Sandaruwani,

Welcome to the Google Photos Help Forum.

@Sandeep, could you please confirm what exactly are you referring to when you say back up photos? Are you trying to backup your photos from your device to Google Photos

If yes, here are the steps that would help you to do so:
  • Open the Google Photos app .
  • Sign in to your Google Account.
  • At the top, tap Menu.
  • Select Settings.
  • Click on Back up & sync.
  • Tap Back up & sync on or off.
If that's not what you're looking for, please write back to me with a screenshot so that I can look into the matter and help you accordingly. Please redact any personal information while sharing the screenshot.

@Sandaruwani, could you please confirm what exactly are you referring to when you say delete photos? Are you trying to restore photos that you've deleted? If yes, please follow the below steps to do so:

  • At the top left, tap Menu.
  • Click on Trash.
  • Touch and hold the photo or video you want to recover.

    • In your phone.
    • Into the "Photos" section of the app.
    • Into any albums it was in.
But if you've already deleted the photos from the Trash from your Google Photos, there is no other way to restorethem.

That being said, if you would like to see this feature implemented in the future, I recommend leaving feedback about it through the following steps:

This last month my phone has stopped automatically creating panos, like it used to.

Answer:

Hy Tyan,

As far as I know the feature is still supported.

However, from time to time Google Photos may suspend making new creations and there's no way of manually triggering the creation of new ones. The only suggestions I have is to keep taking sequences of photos with good overlap (e.g. at least 1/3 of the frame) for making panoramas in the hope that Google Photos gets unstuck.

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

The steps to take a screenshot vary between phone models & android versions.

if you have activated OK Google or Hey Google detection on your phone, the easiest way would be to say, "Hey Google take a screenshot". Then the Google assistant will do the work for you. However, once the screenshot is ready, upload that through Google Photos.

In any case, you can post your query in the Pixel forum & get some help through the experts there.
