When I share photos some of my contacts seem to have the option to share to another user's Google Photos app. In this case just their name is listed (no email or phone etc) and a small Google Photos logo is overlayed on their user icon. 

The contact I want to share with doesn't have this option even though they have been using Google Photos since it launched.  We are trying to share a dynamic album but don't want notifications to be sent via sms or email.

Hi Ghost,

One possibility is that the recipient that you are having a problem with has more than one Google Account (and they may even be confused about which one they are using for Google Photos - I guarantee this happens sometimes).

But honestly, just use their email account. Most people are less confused by this (and some people don't pay attention to their app notifications).  I use the Google Account with certain people, but not others (depending on how they use their devices).

I'm assuming the answer here is: "no" - ie. Google does not allow control over privacy in this way, and never will. This is a shame, as I've spent the last year working on moving my whole extended family over to Google photos from Facebook, iCloud, sending photos on email etc, so that we have a cross-platform way to share that we can easily go back over. Now I guess my hunt for a good photo sharing platform is not over! (and I fear it does not exist yet)

Side note: I noticed today that I have to turn on tracking in Google Maps just to see my home & work addresses, what's with that?!

The only effective way to reach out to Google is to Leave Feedback.  It is unfortunate that Google don't respond or give visibility of what happens to feedback, but we are assured that management reports are produced and action taken as a result of this analysis.
 
You can see your own feedback at Feedback Reports and I always start the feedback with Capital letters for the title because I think it will show up better if I submit multiple times,

There is no native ability within Google Photos to initiate a find/remove duplicates. There are a couple options you can try..
  1. If you log into Google Photos on the web and navigate to https://photos.google.com/search/_tra_ this will show a view of all photos by upload date. This may help identify your duplicates for easier deletion.
  2. There are apps available on the play store which advertise themselves as being able to scan photo libraries to identify and remove duplicates. Buyer beware though.... make sure to thoroughly research the app to ensure it will work as you intend.

You can add a person through the following steps.
 
Tap to open the photo which contains unidentified faces & then slide up or tap the three dots .
If the app had failed to include some faces in that picture, then you will see a prompt "XX faces available to add".
 
Tap the edit icon at the extreme right edge. (An icon of a pencil ).
 
That will show identified faces in square boxes & their thumbnails at the bottom.
Tap on the + sign on each thumbnail. 
Then the app will show you all the identified faces till that time.
You can select the right one.
 
If not, tap the + sign at the top right corner of the screen.
That would create a new grouping altogether.
 
Once created, the app may take some time to bring all the related pictures to this new grouping.
Otherwise, you can go through the collection & add the photos to the newly created group, manually, through the same steps as described above.
 
PS. The edit feature may not be available in some regions. If you happen to be from that, then regretfully nothing can be done.

I suggest you go through the following article first to understand the nuances of deleting the pc.
 
When you delete a photo in Google Photos it will also be deleted from all synced devices. In practice that are only mobile devices (phones and tablets) since syncing with computers has been disabled. There are however ways to do this:
  • Disable Backup and sync on the device
  • Move the photo to a non-synced folder before you delete it from Google Photos. 
  • Once done, open the link https://photos.google.com through any browser on your phone, log into your Google Account & start deleting the unwanted pics.

Although there are multiple ways to transfer the content from the internal memory of the phone to an SD card, doing so through Google Photos allows retaining the backup and sync aspect.
Please follow the steps below to achieve the transfer.
  • Open Google Photos.
  • Tab Library.
  • Tap the desired folder under Photos on the device like Camera, Screenshots etc.
  • Select photos by long pressing then tap others after the tick confirms the first selection
  • You can also long-press and stroke down while still in a pressed condition, to select a batch.
  • Next, tap the 3 dot menu top right.
  • Tap Move to folder.
  • Tap New SD folder, type a folder name then tap Create.
Note that if the photos are backed up to Google Photos this will not remove them from the Photos, and even if the new folder is not selected for Backup & sync any contents will still be deleted if you delete that using the Google Photos app.

Welcome to the Google Photos Help Forum.

Just to let you know, your storage is shared across Google Drive, Gmail, and Google Photos. In the meantime, please check the storage space of Google Drive through the desktop using the attached link.

However, if you'd delete photos and videos, they will also get removed from:
  • photos.google.com and any synced devices
  • Google Photos albums
  • Google Photos movies when you edit them.
  • Google Drive, for photos and videos that are synced with Google Drive.
  • Any shared albums you may have added them to.
Therefore, if you'd turn off backup and sync in your device and then delete the photos from your Google Photos, it won't get deleted from your device. But if you'd again turn on backup and sync, the photos will get deleted from the device.

Answer:

I would expect that you have created an album which is automatically sorted chronologically. 
But if you have changed their natural order by manual corrections, I can imagine that the draft book still follows the uncorrected order. Hard to check for me and hard to correct either. 
If you tell about your method, I can try to find the bottleneck and the solution.  
Sorry - just volunteers here. 

PS: if pictures from social media are involved, you always can expect troubles.

I am creating a book, not an album.  I have chosen the photos in chronological order, but when I go to edit the book, the photos are no longer in chronological. Is there a way to keep them in the same order as I selected them or simply in chronological order?

Sorry Richard, but it is more wise to start with creating an album in which you normally have the correct chronological order and then use that album as the base for your book. That may avoid your problem.

I created an album that had my pictures in chronological order.  I then went to create a photo book using the album.  Again the pictures in the photo book were not in chronological order.  Is there a secret code I need to use to keep the photos in the photo book in the same order as they are in the album?

And why is this so difficult?

Ugly, but open the album and then choose Edit album under the 3 dots and then click the small up and down arrows in the right corner and choose Old to new. Maybe the order is then like in the book and the problems may be caused by some social media photos which never have correct dates anymore.
