First of I went to the app just this morning and I noticed that my videos and pictures being duplicated then it started backing the double ones all of a sudden, to my surprise it was backing those pictures and videos that has already being backed up before
When I checked the number of files being backed it was more that 2000 and I know the folders that I selected to back don't contain up to 2000 files meanwhile it was actually backing up everything on my phone both internal and on SD card,so I uninstalled the app and installed again and now I can't find all the videos and pictures I've backed up

It's not possible to help without detailed information, for example:
  • How do you try ? 
  • Is Backup and sync turned ON?  If so to which account ? 
  • What do you see at https://photos.google.com/search/_tra_ (Recently added) for the account used for backing up?
  • Did you also try to upload manually?  Select photos > 3-dots > back up now.

A few days ago, I realized that my photos haven't been backed up for the last two months. 

I have since tried phone restart, uninstalling updates (can't uninstall Photos on the phone entirely), reinstalling updates, force stop, clearing cache/data, using without account, relinking account, deleting zero-byte WhatsApp files, ungrouping people but nothing seems to be working and now it's perpetually stuck in setting up photo library - getting ready to backup for a couple of days (with no end in sight). 

I know it's not doing anything and is stuck because I can see no data is being used by the app and already backed up photos/pictures are not downloaded/shown in the gallery.

This used to be a seamless app, but it's driving me crazy. I see a lot of people have had this issue, but no permanent fix. 

I am using Oneplus 7T with Android 11 and December 2021 security patch and have approximately 20GB of free space. I have tried on wifi and cellular and nothing seems to have moved it forward. 

Can anybody help with this, please?

Yes, I have backups turned off for everything except the 'Camera' folder.

But Google Photos shows Screenshots in the same folder as Camera, due to them both being stored under the DCIM folder (although separate subfolders).
So there's NO WAY to backup your camera photos without also backing up all your screenshots!

Why is this still an issue in 2022, I've been hearing about this since years, and it's not even that big of a bug. Just show Camera and Screenshots as separate folders (like they actually are!) so we can turn off backup for screenshots.

Does anyone have any solution for this? (apart from manually/automating moving screenshots outside DCIM)
Please if anyone has found any proper working fix, I'd really appreciate it.

I'm using a Xiaomi device running MiUI 12.5.
Would reallyyy appreciate if this could be solved. Thanks.

You describe the issue very accurately. The only solutions now seem indeed to move the screenshots out of DCIM before you upload, or delete (or archive) them after they have been uploaded.

I've been receiving this everyday, I have been blocking and deleting one by one (never clicked on the link) but it keeps coming everyday. That makes the app looks unsafe as it's a convenient platform for those scammers to reach out to innocent users.

There are many recent (but also older) complaints about Spam (or worse: fishing) via Google Photos. Since we are all users on this forum we cannot do more than escalate the issue to Google, what I did. 
I hope that they can do something, but anyone having, finding or even guessing your Gmail address can send mail and share photos with you. 

I am afraid that "Leaving" the album, "Blocking" the user and "never click on the link" is all you can do now, but they obviously use many addresses to send.

Hello,

I use Google photos fo upload my media and clear up my phone storage since my space is very limited. The photos upload perfectly, but over 200 videos have been failed to be added.

Here are the methods I've tried:
1. Delete + redownload app
2. Upgrade to 200GB storage + clear miscellaneous media to make more space
3. Experimented between wifi and cellular data
4. Individually upload (end up with cloud with exclamation point
5. Turn off low-power mode + keep screen unlocked on the app

Please let me know if you have any advice, I truly appreciate.
