I ordered several photos.  All of the 4x6 and 5x7 prints were cut off on the right side by about a third. Some were also cut off at the bottom.  All of the 8 x 10's were cut off by almost HALF!  The color quality was also off on most of the prints.  One of my 8 x 10's was also zoomed WAY in, which I did not want.  The way these came out takes away totally from the total composition of the photo.  These are not acceptable and I would like my money back.  I've had prints done where a little bit was cut off but these are ridiculous!

I am in the process of moving from Dropbox to Google Photos - mainly because of cost and the Google search facility.  However, I have 35000 photos currently located in folders and sub-folders eg a "Holiday" folder with sub-folders for each country and more sub-folders split into dates when I visited.  This type of structure (which I would imagine is fairly common) doesn't seem to be achievable in Google Photos.  I believe there is only one level of album with Google.  If each of my current folders have to have their own album then I will end up with literally hundreds of albums at root level.  Someone must have found out a way round this.....Please help?!  Thank you.  ps. My photos (full size originals) are all stored on an external hard drive attached to a macbook pro.

You're exactly right, there's no way to add sub folders in Google Photos. You can add an album at a time and title each album as you go but this is as far as you can go.

 

I suggest leaving a feature request directly for the development team by following these steps:

1. Open the Google Photos app on a mobile device or go to photos.google.com using a computer .
2. At the top left, touch or click the menu icon > Help & Feedback.
3. Touch or click Feedback.

 

 

Please know that you may not receive a response, however the Photos Team are still reading the feedback! To see all of the feedback you have sent across all Google products, visit the Google Feedback Site.

It makes no sense to send any feedback - we have to live with that flat design since Picasaweb-2007

But if you use Backup & Sync on your computer, you folderstructure is copied on Drive without taking storage, while the contents is uploaded to Google Photos in one stream - and then you are free to create a few recent albums for sharing mainly.

Good afternoon. You can change the upload settings on your phone to Original Quality, while still keeping it set to High Quality on your other devices. All this means is that pictures uploaded from your phone will be uploaded at Original Quality, but not pictures uploaded from your other devices. 

 

If you want Original Quality uploads from your tablet or the Google Photos website, you'll have to change the settings on those devices. 

 

These settings will not affect how the pictures look on any of your devices. What I mean is, for example, if you upload a picture from your phone at Original Quality, then view that picture with your tablet or on the website (which are set to High Quality uploads) there won't be any difference. You will still be able to view the picture in its original quality state from devices that aren set to upload at High Quality.

Thank you for your reply. 

The problem is that when I connect to my account with the laptop I only see the high quality size of the images. I am talking about images that i had already uploaded to google photos. When I connect from my mobile I see the original size. How can I see the original size from any other device? It should be original size no matter what device I am using but it seems it only works with my mobile. For example, one image has the original size on my phone google photos (5mb) and the same image has high quality (180kb) when I connect from laptop.

Are you certain that those images were uploaded at Original Quality? 

I ask because it's possible that you're actually viewing the original image itself on your phone, which will obviously show you the full size, but then you're looking at the high quality backup with your laptop, which will show you the specs after conversion to HQ. 

You should look at the picture's Information section to see what's what, then double-check your phone's upload settings. 

For example, here's two screenshots, one from my phone and the other from my desktop computer. You'll see that the Info section shows the exact same details regarding file size, etc.

I have noticed that too, but the photos were not blurry, only the way they were (temporarily) shown. For example clicking in the photo made it become sharp. 

You can check whether your photos are still OK by viewing them on another device, in the web app https://photos.google.com/ or by downloading. By the way: it's a good idea to have an additional copy safely stored elsewhere, just in case ...

• Storage used in Google cloud as shown in Google One storage 
  Then see also Google One storage management and Quota - Google Drive 
  When you uploded with setting "Original" you can also use "Recover storage" on https://photos.google.com/settings
• To reduce the storage used on your device:  you cannot do this with Google Photos. You will have to use another app. But do some tests to see the effect: it may create duplicates on Google Photos. Then you may have to move the photos to another folder, not set to be backed up.

To entirely delete the photos stored on the cloud, please follow these steps on your Android phone.

• First, turn off backup & sync.
• Next, uninstall or disable the Google Photos app on your phone.
• Next, open the link https://photos.google.com through any browser on your phone. Log into your Google account if the browser asks you to do so.
• After that, go on deleting the pics one by one. You can speed up this step if you do so through a desktop PC. There, you can select multiple pics through the Shift + Mouse key.
• Once you have deleted all the pics, empty the trash bin also.

However, if the collection is sizable, you may not see the intermediate stop of storing the pics in the Trash.

You can arrange for a bulk download by visiting the link https://takeout.google.com/.

Select the Google Photos app for data download.

Once the file is ready, you will get an email. Access that & unzip all the attachments into your phone's gallery. However, you have to ensure your phone has free space more than the size of the downloaded zip file.

 

However, unless you delete the pics in Google Photos, those will continue to occupy space and then force you to go for paid subscription.
