I'm running out of space in my Google account so I'm moving all my photos to my computer which has a ton of memory. I've already downloaded everything I want to keep, and I'm ready to mass delete pics from my Google Photos storage. however, my family keeps a few shared albums on Google, and if I delete my original photos, they will be removed from those shared albums. is there a way to mass delete my photos but tell it to not delete anything in a shared album?

Sorry Sarah, there are no options to do that. Deleting removes all contents from all albums.
 
The only aid I can think of is to go through the albums, open the first photo and press the f key to 'Favourite' each photo then a combination of arrow right, key f. etc to the end. Then manually exclude Favourites from the deletion.

Good afternoon. If the form you downloaded is a PDF, which is extremely common for forms, you can install the Adobe Fill & Sign app from the Play Store. I have used this app countless times on my phone to fill out and sign forms. It's pretty easy to use.

How do I backup photos from the "New and Improved Google Photos" after July 2019 to my PC?  I have searched and the confusing solution appears to he use another companies services to do this (one drive or drop box).  Is this truly Googles answer?  If so is Google no longer interested in this part of their business in the long term?

The current version of Backup and Sync (version 3.45) can be downloaded here. There are just minor changes from the previous version and if you already had it installed, it likely auto-updated. You can see the release notes here.

This is crazy frustrating. Yes, you can do a full google archive backup, but the photos come in folders and have a ton of extra information (json) and files with them. This really needs to be fixed...

Bobbie is not correct, but you are correct indeed: that Google Archive is meant for people who want to leave Google forever and don't bother about its organisation - thereby it is called Take-out. But we never have proposed that method for daily use. 

Google will have had good reasons to stop with updating the optional Google Photos folder in Drive because it was a buggy, confusing, clumsey and dangerous solution. We know that because all unsolvable problems posted here since 2016. But Google can also be blamed that they did not come with a better solution immediately. 
The workarounds proposed by some expert-volunteers here do not exclude normal use of Google Photos, but adding the Microsoft OneDrive app for taking-over syncing straight to PC on a much more safe way. 

OneDrive can be used up to 5 GB for free and that is space enough for temporary storage. The only thing you need to do manually as soon as possible, is moving the synced files to your own backup folder. 

If you are no Windows-user, you can use the Dropbox app instead, but then you also need a Dropbox app on your pc for delivering the synced folder. But Dropbox ony has 2 GB space for free. 
And OneDrive also can used on iPhone and Mac, so still the preferred solution for syncing only.

Google Photos never uploads the same picture multiple times.
What we see as duplicates have some differences in file format or metadata.
Additionally, if you have activated Raw + JPEG capture or bracketing in your phone app, that would create duplicates.
 
Regrettably, Google Photos doesn't provide any means to remove the apparent duplicates. You have to search those manually.
 
However, you will find some tips in the following article compiled by experts with comprehensive experience on how to avoid duplicate photos & how to remove those.

To remove images from your phone, to save space (they will still be visible from the cloud), use "Free up space" from the 3 line menu in the Google Photos app.

I just tested this successfully on the iOS app and https://photos.google.com/u/0/
I thought "and" works, but it doesn't seem to anymore (or I have memories).

Hello Wendy,
 
Check the Apple setting for Google Photos to make sure Background App Refresh in turned on, then enable Backup and leave the device plugged in with the app open to make sure progress is being made. There is no option but to wait patiently until the process is finished, especially if you have iCloud enabled with Optimised settings which will make the numbers go up and down as the original photos are pulled in from iCloud, backed up, then optimised again.

Hello Zara,

Thanks for posting in the Google Photos Help Forum.

I understand that you're unable to backup your photos and I'll be happy to help you. Maybe the photos weren't uploaded successfully at the first place to Google Photos (cloud) and also make sure you're logged in to Google Photos with the same Google Account that you used during the backup. Photos/videos that are not synced or backed up, will still appear in Google Photos and will have this icon  (which means not synced/backed up) or some photos/videos will also show up with the two arrows in a circle mean backup is in progress.

Once the upload is complete there will be no icon on any photos/videos. Often, many of us misinterpret that they are all backed up because the photos/videos show up in Google Photos and we over see the icons on each photo/video. If the photos/videos weren't backed up they cannot be deleted from the Google Photos library nor Trash.

In case, you are uploading a large amount of data (photos/videos), please know that it might take 24-48 hours for the photos and videos to sync across all devices. Please ensure to have 'Backup & sync' enabled on the Google Photos settings while you're backing up your photos and videos. To check is the content is backed up, login in to photos.google.com to checked for your backed up photos and videos. 

Meanwhile, also try giving the below steps a try once again in a sequence to help resolve the issue:
  • Close the Google Photos app and re-launch it.
  • Sign out and sign back in to Google Photos with the same Google Account.
  • Clear App data:
    • Open your device's Settings app (not the Google Settings app).
    • Touch Apps.
    • Select Google Photos in the list.
    • Touch Clear data.
  • Update the Google Photos app on your Android phone:
    • Visit the Google Play Store.
    • Open Google Photos.
    • Touch on Update.
