Question: My photos ware deleted and removed in a trash after 30 days. How can I recover them?

To recover deleted photos on my Google account

Hi Stepian,

I’m sorry, it’s not possible to recover photos permanently deleted from the Google Photos Trash. However, you may install to your Android device a deleted photo recovery app (be sure to pick one that doesn't require rooting) https://play.google.com/store/search?q=recover%20deleted%20photos&c=apps and run a scan for anything to recover.

Answer:

Alright thanks, though I have already tried that. It seems the app is just recovering the photos I have deleted from the android device am currently using not from those deleted long time ago in my email.

Question: My virtual home buttons are blocking 95% of the share button in photos

I'm trying to share photos from my highlights, but most of the buttons along the bottom are blocked by my virtual home buttons, which are not hiding themselves, and the UI for photos isn't accounting for this either to space them up. It usually takes me 5 or 6 tries to hit the tiny spot that is accessible. I have all but stopped using photos on my phone because of this, it's frustrating not being able to interact with them.

The share button is the only one I can hit, the ⭐ and 3 dots are not able to be pressed.

Nothing is working to hide the virtual home buttons.
I'm on an AT&T with the LG V60 with the latest (last night) update, this problem has persisted through several OS and app updates.

Answer:

Hi, -E

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

Do you face the same problem in the landscape mode also?

Answer:

No I do not when in landscape, it's a workaround tho, TY. Photos is the only app that doesn't hide the nav bar, I just don't like gestures and it's never been intuitive and I've tried, but my autopilot just likes the way it's been.

Answer:

Hi,  -E

Thanks for your reply

However, regret, I can't simulate the problem on my Pixel phone.

When I open memories, the virtual home and back buttons auto-hide.
The same behaviour I observed on HTC & Samsung models.

Can you check whether the accessibility menu on your phone has some more options to auto-hide the home button when in Full-screen mode?

Answer:

It's not that, I humored you, checked, and no. It's literally ONLY GOOGLE PHOTOS, not every app.

It's something with the app, asking on Reddit yielded that it happens on other phones too, I need to gather models from my past.

As started it's been persistent through a few updates in both phone and app, not sure when it started TBH.

Answer:

Hi,  -E

Thanks for your reply

Every manufacturer creates its flavour of stock Android & then users land in such a problem.

I confirm once again the problem is non-existent on Pixel, HTC & Samsung.

Regretfully, I can't offer any other solution.
Flashing the phone with stock Android is beyond the reach of any naive user.

Question: Is there a way to add watermark to photos on the Samsung s21 ultra??

Hi Renee,

Google Photos doesn't support adding full watermarks to photos, you need a third-party image editing app. However, if hand-drawn marks, highlights, or text are enough for your watermarking needs, you can add them by editing a photo in the Google Photos app.

Hi there,
my question is simple but I have seen complicated answers to similar questions therefore I try myself: the pictures on my android phone are safe and backed-up.
Now I want to get rid of them from my phone but I don't want to do it one by one, I want to delete the ones that are already safe in my backup. If I choose a picture I find the command "delete from device" that is all well and good but I want to delete all the pictures that are backed-up, I just want to delete the copies from my phone all of them at once.
Is it possible or do I have to go one by one?
If yes, how?
Thanks!!

Answer:

Hello Mario,

The delete options on Android are as follows
  1. Free up space checks that a photo is backed up then deletes it from the local storage
  2. Delete in the Google Photos app using the trash
    • Deletes both the device copy and the backed up web copy
    • If internet access is available the photo is put in the web trash and is permanently deleted after 60 days
    • If Internet access is not available the photo is put in the app trash and is permanently deleted after 30 days or when the app data is deleted
  3. Delete in the app using the 3 dot option to Delete from the device, either singly or by selecting a batch
    • The photos remain backed up and can be seen both in the app and on the web
  4. Delete using a Gallery app (Gallery Go etc)
    • The photos remain backed up and can be seen both in the app and on the web

Question: Duplicate photos

Is there a way to identify duplicate photos so they can be deleted to free up space?

Hi, Kimber Kosanke

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

Google Photos never uploads the same picture multiple times.
What we see as duplicates have some differences in file format or metadata.
Additionally, if you have activated Raw + JPEG capture or bracketing in your phone app, that would create duplicates.

Regrettably, Google Photos doesn't provide any means to remove the apparent duplicates. You have to search those manually.

However, you will find some tips in the following article on how to avoid duplicate photos & how to remove those.

Question: Unable to upload Videos to Location on Google/Google Maps

REALLY!?!?!? What I'm trying to upload to Location on Google/Google Maps via the Desktop Computer/La…

REALLY!?!?!?

What I'm trying to upload to Location on Google/Google Maps via the Desktop Computer/Laptop are 2 Videos that are less than 3 minutes long, as the 2 Videos taken on my iPhone 6S Plus from yesterday contain the Synchron Brunswick A-2 Pinsetters at the Bowling Place called Brunswick Zone Glendale (Which is about to become Bowlero Glendale, as of this year due to Bowlero taking over & replacing Brunswick Zone, since 2014.) & when I try to upload them to Location on Google/Google Maps (As when I search it on Google/Google Maps & viewing it, it has Photos/Videos in there that other people have took & uploaded to Location for all of us to view on what the Bowling Place is like & stuff.), it gives me this Message, like if uploading the 2 Videos to Location that I'm trying to do is unavailable, unless that uploading the Videos that are more than 30 seconds is unavailable due to Limited Storage on Google, compared to how YouTube has unlimited Storage, as YouTube is basically a Video Website & any Pictures in there would be a Slideshow inside the Videos, when edited by a Video Editor/Movie Maker to post on YouTube afterwards.

If any of you guys know about this problem though or anything, please reply to my Post here, as I need to figure out why it gives me this Message, when uploading the 2 Videos to Location that are less than 3 minutes long with the Synchron Brunswick A-2 Pinsetters at Brunswick Zone Glendale (Soon to be Bowlero Glendale.), as I'm wanting to upload them for all of you guys to watch on Google/Google Maps, when searching the Bowling Place on there & viewing the Photos/Videos of the Location & stuff, while the Full Version of the 2 Videos that I have, containing the Synchron Brunswick A-2 Pinsetters at the end (Taken on 2 of my Camcorders that I brought with me as well, as I like to video the Bowling Lanes, when I'm there until the end of my Bowling for the day.) would be uploaded to YouTube 1 day for you guys to see me & my Best Friend bowling in there before the Synchron Brunswick A-2 Pinsetters Moment at the end.

Until then with you guys replying to my Post here, have a nice day.

Answer:

Hi Joshua Morrow,

Sorry for your trouble.

Google photos help community only handles google photos related issue so I recommend you to use https://support.google.com/maps/community.

Answer:

@Barry Allen

It kinda is a Google Photos Related Issue to what you're saying in there, as when you view a Location through Google Search/Google Maps Search, like say Brunswick Zone Mesa for Example, it shows some Photos/Videos from inside & outside of the Location, as a lot of people would be taking & posting them on here through Location, as when viewing the Location through Google/Google Maps, there's an Add Photo Button on there, where you can upload your Photos/Videos of the Location from inside & outside to what it's like & stuff.

Are you sure this is unrelated though, because it is kinda related to what I'm saying in my Post here to what I especially need help with, since yesterday?

Answer:

Hi Joshua Morrow,

Google Photos is a photo sharing and storage service. Google Photos has many features like auto group person and things, Sharing your photos to someone, creating photo album, etc.

Likewise Google Maps is another service and it has many features like Place search, Directions, Street view. One of the Google Maps features is upload your photos into Google Maps.

So you need to contact Google Maps support :)

Answer:

@Barry Allen But also upload Videos as well to Google Maps, as I'm especially trying to figure out about that in relation to my problem here to why I can't even upload any Videos to Google Maps, as everyone else can without any problems at all.

So, even if I had to ask this Question in Google Maps Help, to ask you this as well, do you know anything about why I can't upload any Videos to Google Maps?

The Videos I'm wanting to upload to Google Maps are the Videos of the Synchron Brunswick A-2 Pinsetters that I took on Sunday Evening at Brunswick Zone Glendale (Which is about to become Bowlero Glendale.) & my Videos of them (I only have 2 of them, as of Sunday Evening.) are less than 3 minutes long.

Answer:

I really wish to help. But the thing is, I am one of the user volunteers who have knowledge about Google Photos not about Google Maps.

You will find more expertise who can answer this in Google Maps support.

This https://support.google.com/maps/thread/6273931?msgid=6273931 post maybe  help you.

I'm sorry but the reason why I suggested not to mention Google Photos to the Google Drive support team is the one you experienced, i.e. they directed you back here where there's nothing we can do. I suggest that you try again with the Google Drive recovery process, this time telling only you want to recover deleted files in Google Drive.

Please note this is a user-to-user community and we're volunteers helping other users, not Google employees.

Hi roger ruth,

In Facebook, go to Settings then "Your Facebook Information:

Click "Transfer a Copy of Your Information"
I believe you can remove Google Photos from there. Since I don't have it setup , I can't say for sure.

Sorry, going to the Settings in Facebook as I suggested does not let you disconnect from Google Photos.

I'm trying to find where you can do that. Or maybe someone else will post here soon to let you know.
