1. delete the Google Photos app, photos in the camera roll will not be affected
2. power down/power up or restart the device

• find "duplicates" in your own photos. Photos has no option to do so. 
  See   How to prevent/remove duplicates
• or find visually similar images on the web. 
  • In the Google Photos app on mobile devices you should see the "Lens" icon when you open a photo. If not you may have to install the Lens app first. 
  • in the web app you can open a photo, right-mouse click > Search image with Google Lens

Google Photos does not have a feature that allows users to hide albums or lock pictures with a password. 

 

You must have done that with a different app, so there's nothing that anybody here will be able to do. All I can suggest is that you contact the app developer or whatever customer support service is available from the designer.

The safest way to delete from Google Photos is to delete the Google Photos app and delete the photos at https://photos.google.com/  or in bulk at https://photos.google.com/search/_tra_ where they are sorted by upload date. Check the trash and if 100% sure empty it (cannot be undone)

The camera roll photos will not be affected.

 

If you need to reinstall the app do not enable Back up & sync,

The photos will be backed up again if Backup & sync is re-enabled.

We appreciate your feedback and suggestions. Unfortunately, there isn't a way to delete photos in the google photo app without deleting the photos in my gallery, I recommend sending this as a feedback to our product team directly. 

To send a feedback, please follow the below steps:

1. Open Google Photos and make sure you're signed in.
2. In the top left, click Menu.
3. Click Send feedback.
4. Click Submit.

As a workaround, you can turn OFF auto back up of images, and manually back up or delete only those images you want backed up or deleted locally. This requires a lot more work and caution on your part to not delete images you wanted backed up, so be careful.
