To save a photo as a PDF:

1. Open Photos

2. Select photo and open in full view

3. Swipe up to reveal options, and swipe the menu  options left to reveal Print icon. (Not the order print option.) Select the printer icon.

4. In the next view, where it says select print, select the drop down menu and select save as PDF.

5. Select the round PDF icon to download file to your phone. Then use as needed.

PS if for some reason the PDF version of the document doesn't work, try opening Google Drive and use the + icon and select Scan to take a photo and covert a compatible file.

When my partner shares photos from her iPhone I'm the Google photos app, they sometimes come through to me on my pixel at 0.5mp quality. She has original quality backup set on her Google photos.

Sometimes they are 12mp in the shared tab of the app, but when I save them to my Google library, the save at 0.5mp. Some times they share and save at 0.5mp. Most of the time they share and save at the expected 12mp.

We can't figure out when or why this happens but it is extremely frustrating as my library is now littered with unusable quality photos. Can someone please help me understand why this happens.

Welcome to Google Photos Community.

 

Google photos are cloud storage if you upload photos on google photos then the photos are uploaded on the cloud from which you can delete them from the device as they are stored on google data centers. The number of photos uploaded on google photos counts towards your Google account storage.  Till 15GB the storage is free then if you go beyond that you need to buy a google one plan.

 

The google photos right now are showing the photos from the camera roll which is from on the device.

Once you uploaded the photos on google photos those photos will be on the device and as well as on google photos. 

 

Then if you want you can delete the photos from the device and then you can access it from google photos once its uploded.

Thanks for posting in the Google Photos Support Community.

I understand and I know how important Google Photos is for you. Please give the below steps a try in a sequence to help resolve the issue:

• Close the Google Photos app and re-launch it.
• Sign out and sign back in to Google Photos with the same Google Account.
• Clear App data:
• Open your device's Settings app (not the Google Settings app).
• Touch Apps.
• Select Google Photos in the list.
• Touch Clear data.
• Update the Google Photos app on your Android phone:
• Visit the Google Play Store.
• Open Google Photos.
• Touch on Update.

Also try (On a browser):

• Sign out and sign back in to Google Photos (photos.google.com) with the same Google Account.
  
• Clear your cookies and cache.
  
• Try Incognito/private window.
  
• Disable extensions/add-ons/plug-ins.
  
• Try a different browser to see if it is a browser related issue.
