I know if I download a single picture the modification time on the file system is the download time. But if I select several pictures I got a "Photos.zip" file with the correct modification time for all pictures.

Since some days I get "Photos-001.zip" and all pictures have the same modification date. It's actually not my local time, but from server time zone.

Of course I can still use the correct DateTimeOriginal Exif info to organize the files, but this new behavior is a bit annoying.

I can confirm the change but Google have not replied to an earlier escalation so I have re-escalated with your question.

The problem showed up on a Windows and Linux OS using Chrome. It effected only the file dates shown in a file manager.

I tested it again now, and the problem seems fixed as the file dates are correct again in the Zip files.

I'm not sure if the actual download is any different between Windows and Mac, it depends on which dates you are looking at. Online is a screenshot which shows the same as Sarah but Windows Explorer doesn't show these as default where Mac Finder sees the file modification dates as default.

If anyone with a Mac can explore the columns available in Finder it would help clarify where the ''problem' lies.

You're right. When I posted my reply I thought everything was as expected. But I had activated the "wrong" columns in the Windows Explorer.

A check with my photo archive and older downloads shows at least 'Date', 'Date modified' and 'Date taken' should have the same Date/Time. Unfortunately this is not the case with current downloads.

This is not a fix or a designated Answer, marked as Recommended for the purpose of visibility only.

Google Takeout can be used to download individual albums. Go to Google Dashboard and expand the Photos tab then left click on the 3 dots and select Download data. If you wait a minute until 'All photos albums included' pops up then click on it and deselect all.

Then scroll down and select any Albums you have created

See screenshots online.

You will now get a single copy of each photo, one json file per photo, and one filename-edited.jpg for each edited photo. The json files contain the date, location, and descriptions added in Google Photos

The json files can be merged with the jpgs using a utility such as the one referred to below. The Fixer process is actually more convenient that trying to unzip manually.

MetadataFixer can fix EXIF Metadata in pictures and videos when exporting from Google Takeout. There is a demo version and a paid version: https://metadatafixer.com/

She can only access your account when either she knows the Uid and password, or you signed in on her device once, and forgot to sign off.

Note that on a mobile device you can sign in to another account in the Google Photos app. That gives the other person access to your photos, but not to other services like Gmail. It is possible to toggle between several accounts in the Google Photos app without having to sign in again each time.

Of course wifes are smarter, but with complicated Google Photos everyone easy can make mistakes and it also is not unusual that partners share their whole Photos-library. But therefore you don't need to know passwords.

But because Tim did not reply (as usual here) we do not know what was the real cause of his problem.
