Do not like the Google photo app and I do not want to delete my photos on my iPhone or in the iPhone cloud. I'm afraid if I delete the recently set up Google photo app on my iPad I will delete all my photos everywhere. Do you know what happens when you on install the Google photo app? Personally I do not like the lack of organization on the Google photo app. I much prefer the Apple iPhone options for storing photos. It seems that when I go to a photo program to enhance photos it always goes to the Google photos versus my well organized Apple iPad photos. Any idea why?

When you find an answer to this I would like to know. I started backing up using Google Photos App sync and storage and it has used 15gb of my "free" storage. I don't need it. I have had the same issue. I did a test where i took a throw-away pic and deleted it. It was still in my iCloud. So I have been deleting pics from Google Photos. I recommend doing a test like this to check your settings, etc before deleting in mass.

I would LOVE to know how to keep my photos from auto-syncing to Google Photos. I have tried multiple ways that are recommended to no avail. :(

Pls try below option to close this :

1)Just hold the icon of Google photos.

2) Select App info.

3) Select permission

4) You can see Storage permission is already on. Just off that.

Now it will not access our storage space.

5) Just Close the "Google photos" .

6) Open again "Google photos" icon.

Now it will ask you to allow for access the photos.

You can see an option " Deny & don't ask again." Click that option.

There is no download option, unless for a single picture. This is a strange design limitation in the Android-version, because in the same app on iPhone there is no problem to download a fairly large selection.

But the primary question is: why do you need them back on phone because you perfectly can work with the Google Photos app - also for sharing in better quality then possible with any social media.

And you will have freshly shooted pictures soon enough for Whatsapping or alike.

Come back to explain please because downloading back all is a terrible job.

Well, the only options I see even for a single picture is to Delete and Archive. None for Downloading back to the phone. The photos were accidentally deleted to begin with and I of course know they are on Google but I just would prefer to have them saved locally as well.

Basically, there is no option to Download to my Android at all it seems?

You need to open a single picture to see the download-option when you hit the 3 dots, but that option only is there if that picture is not present on your phone anymore, because you have deleted a lot to make space for storing new pictures & movies. Else I don't understand why they are not on phone anymore.

It would be a reasonable question to ask how to download your whole collection at Google to your computer in order to be able to create a much better collection and to be able to view them on a larger screen and to be able to store that better collection on external disc for surviving your current pc.

But because you insist to have them back on phone, you should choose one of the methods described here in short and my advise is to restrict to this year only in order to keep enough space on your phone for new stuff.

I am beyond frustrated. Google has finally killed Picasa in the sense of uploading pictures to google photos. I've been using Picasa for years to upload my pictures to google photos, and no, I didn't use it for editing. I would take the uploaded pictures and then edit them on my phone or iPad. Now that this wonderful program has been killed, I'm forced to upload my pictures from my sd card straight to Google Photos which takes 12+ hrs to upload less than 400 pictures! I simply don't have time for this and I'm beyond frustrated. I've gone through the forums and have found no solutions, hoping someone can help me out here. And yes, Im using the safari browser to upload the photos.

Uploading directly to https://photos.google.com/ using the UPLOAD button, or drag & drop (also directly to an album) works fine here. It's hard to say why it takes so long for you. It can be a network issue or a glitch anywhere.

I have experienced the same thing. I select Upload and pick my photos and then press Open and it jumps to 4 photos uploading and then NEVER uploads the rest. I've tried this on several different computers and the same result with all of them everytime. Beyond frustrated in order to upload 20 pics would take about 8 hours and I simply do not have time for this

Thank goodness I am also not the only one. It's amazing how quick they appear on Google Photos from my Samsung phone, but uploading from my PC via the browser is frustratingly slow. I had it uploading 300 photos all night and in the morning it still had not finished!! I don't use the desktop app because it just dumps photos in no order. Please, please bring back Picasa. In the beginning, I was very impressed by Google photo. so I started to upload my photos from my laptop. It was fast and it didn't upload duplicates, beautiful, then it started to slow down, to the point that now even to upload a single photo of 1600kb takes ages. It just isn't workable.

I wonder if this is an issue with compression? Would it get faster if I uploaded in full size, even if I have to pay for space? I will run some tests.

To bring back the pics to your new phone's gallery either, you can download photos one by one.

Regrettably, there is no option to do so on a batch of photos.

Or, you can arrange for a bulk download by visiting the link https://takeout.google.com/.

Select the Google Photos app for data download.

Once the file is ready, you will get an email. Access that & unzip all the attachments into your phone's gallery.

That will bring everything to your phone.

None of the photos are synced to my work email, they are all still in my personal Google Photos account, but the notification email are going to my work account. The "To" in the emails is to my work email though, I don't see how signing out will change the setting that has been triggered that it thinks it should send all email notifications to my work account. I'm also getting Google Maps reviews that I've written sent to my work account now. I have signed out and signed in as you have suggested.
