When you download the photo to your computer, you can print it in 2x3 format when the photo has the same 2x3 ratio. No need to reduce the photo.

When the photo has a different ratio like 3x4, you will have to select which part you want to print, for example by cropping.

Possibly too much for the app, Google are aware, but we don’t have any updates.

The safest option is to move the photos to a Computer using a USB cable which has the advantage of being able to recover any lost stragglers.

Deleting from the device by using Gallery Go by Google may be a useful method. You can select a group of photos and use the Share option to Upload to Photos, this will confirm they are backed up, then select the same group and move to trash. Back to the Gallery Go main page and use the 3 dot menu to select trash and empty it.

If you are sure items are backed up at https://photos.google.com/ you can safely delete using any gallery app

Could you please elaborate the issue or your query for me to assist you better? If you've deleted them from Google Photos and want to restore them, please know that photos/videos deleted from the Google Photos library, goes to the Trash for the next 60 days. So, in case, you deleted it by mistake you can always restore it from Trash folder within those 60 days (post deletion). But, if you don't find it in Trash, probably it must have been deleted more that 60 days ago. Unfortunately, restoring your lost/deleted photos and videos from Trash is the last resort.

Sorry, that option was removed when Google separated Google Drive and Google Photos. The only option we are aware of is to use a cloud service in parallel with Google Photos to sync directly with the PC

OneDrive is perfect for PC users as it is built in and you don't have to use cloud space if you regularly move the copies to a backup folder or an external drive.

But I want to add: the OneDrive-app syncs the actual content of the camerafolder to pc only, not what already is stored at Google in the past.

So if you still have more then 5 GB stored in that folder, you will have a start-up problem because the OD cloud only can store up to 5 GB for free and it is a bit uncomfortable to pay for 50 GB extra for a short period.

So before you start the app, you have to clean-up your phone by using the free-up space option of the Google-app - then you can start the app and the first picture taken will get synced to Google as well as to your pc.

Maybe wise before cleaning to copy the contents of the camerafolder straight to pc via the usb-cable.

Setting-up yearfolders for backupping always is the most simple and efficient approach.

I will leave further discussion to Peter now.

PS: syncing other device folders seems not possible via the OneDrive-app, but downloading this stuff to pc mostly leads to sorting problems. Maybe wise to keep that on Google only.

Oh, so Google took away the useful aspect of a cloud service? That's a bummer, I was just going to start using it in my workflow, but they have broken that. Seems to happen predictably with Google which is why I have been reluctant to start using it. Last such instance was discontinuing the API to google earth after my NGO had invested nearly $120k on an app that is now worthless.

However you should not use additional cloudstorage for which you will need to pay someday, you just need the syncing. But then you can't avoid some manual filemanagement for taking-out the files from the synced folder to prevent paying. And because OneDrive is well integrated with the Windows Explorer, you don't need any additional apps at the PC.

I am "out-of-service" here, so just in short.

In fact you don't need the Google Photos app on your phone(s) and pad(s), but an app which syncs directly between their camerafolders and Google Drive - just because Google has broken the connection between Photos and Drive in July 2019.

In this long thread someone was suggesting the Autosync-app for that purpose - so experiment in that direction, because I am not going to do that anymore.

Probably Multicloud is a good approach also, but Peter does know about that precisely.
