Hi, could really do with some assistance. I had organised lots of photos in folders on Google Photos App, they were not backed up. I usually take a backup every now and then by connecting to the PC. Anyways I accidentally delete the "Pictures" folder from my phone whilst I was connected via USB. Now all my photos in those folders have been deleted and I can't see them anywhere. As I said they were not backed up on the cloud. It's not in my computers trash or Google Photos bin. Is there anyway to get these back or are they lost forever?

If you're positive they weren't backed up to the cloud, then you should review whether there is any form of file recovery option on your phone. There is also a small chance that you can restore the photos using a recover deleted photos app.

Rooted my phone, and tried diskdigger and dr.fone. But the pictures aren't there.

  • Since you want to project on a wall, you will have to decide whether the an animation or movie have sufficient quality, compared with a slideshow.
  • The animation maker of Google Photos does not allow to change the speed, but you can use a better one to adjust the speed after creation. 
  • The movie creator is only available in the Google Photos app on mobile devices.
 
I would rather go for a real "slideshow". 
  • When you add photos to an album in Google Photos, you can start a slideshow in the Google Photos web app (3-dots > slideshow). But also the slideshow has no options to change the speed or transition.

Nevertheless, if you are a local guide, you may get an offer for perks, including storage space on Google 1 for a limited period. Have you opted for that?

When the quantum of photos to awaiting the free up action is too large & also the phone has very little space, the "free up space" command fails to do anything. 
The app may also crash.
 
To mitigate the problem, please start uploading manually. 
 
Once a sizable space is free, you can use the "Free up space" option without any glitch.

Uploading should be deleting, but then in your Files-app (or install the Google Files app) and start with deleting the oldest after convincing yourself that they are backupped at photos.google.com in the Chrome-app completely.
 
PS: deleting in the Photos-app will delete both locals and webcopies and then you end-up with nothing.

To unhide a person that you hid before, please follow these steps.
  • Tap the search icon at the bottom .
  • Tap view all to see the thumbnails of all the persons in people & pets.
  • Tap the three dots at the top right corner 
  • Tap on the menu "Hide & show". Please note this menu works like a toggle. If you tap once, the hidden faces become visible. If you tap a second time, then all hidden persons hide again.
  • Now you will see all the hidden persons with a symbol of eye & a slash across that. 
  • Tap on the eye once. Please note, the eye icon also acts as a toggle. Tap once, the person will be unhidden. Tap a second tome & then the eye will reappear hiding the person once again.
  • Once the eye symbol is gone, the thumbnail of the person will become visible again.

When you attempt to manually empty the trash bin in Google Photos, a warning message box appears that explains you are about to permanently delete those pictures and videos. If you choose to proceed anyway, there is nothing that any of the volunteers in this forum can do to help you recover your pictures.

If you deleted pictures or videos that were not previously backed up to your account through the Google Photos app, then unfortunately there's nothing that Google or any of the volunteers in this Help Community can do to recover them.
