Once your photos have been permanently deleted then you won't be able to get them back from Google Photos, first you'll need to check to see if they're still in your bin. You can find out how to do this by following the instructions at this link here.

Restore photos & videos
If you deleted an item and want it back, check your trash to see if it's there.
  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Photos app .
  2. At the bottom, tap Library  Trash .
  3. Touch and hold the photo or video you want to restore.
  4. At the bottom, tap Restore. The photo or video will be back:
    • In your phone's gallery app

You can use Google Photos to save space on your phone when you remove photos from your device that are safely backed up.

Before you get started
Photos and videos that are fewer than 30 days old may be retained on your device. They'll still be backed up in your Google Photos library.
Free up space on your Android device
  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Photos app .
  2. Sign in to your Google Account. 
  3. Tap your account profile photo or initial  Free up space.
  4. You'll see how much space will be freed up. To delete all the items from your phone, tap Free up.
  5. To see your photos and videos, go to photos.google.com or open the Google Photos app .

If you think I haven't read that 100 times..  your wrong! You are holding all the deleted photos in the trash for 60 days. Nothing I do on phone or PC allows me to empty the trash bin. In the he future I will disable everything Google that I can, and will never again own a pixel phone

Not clear if you are the same person as the original poster namen "Fantasy Foliage". 

It makes no sense to repeat al information that can be read at Google as well, but you have deleted a lot in the Google Photos app yourself instead of using the automatic free-up space option and then you should have read the appropriate info about deleting here before. 
But then you also have deleted part of your backup copies at Google and if you empty the trash, these are gone forever also. 

PS: you may have activated some system setting which prevents emptying the local trash. Maybe named Smart storage, but I have no Pixel so I can't check if such an option is present. 

PS: on iPhone you would have the same problem, because every phone runs out of storage some day - especially when shooting 4K movies.

To unhide a person that you hid before, please follow these steps.
  • Tap the search icon at the bottom .
  • Tap view all to see the thumbnails of all the persons in people & pets.
  • Tap the three dots at the top right corner 
  • Tap on the menu "Hide & show". Please note this menu works like a toggle. If you tap once, the hidden faces become visible. If you tap a second time, then all hidden persons hide again.
  • Now you will see all the hidden persons with a symbol of eye & a slash across that. 
  • Tap on the eye once. Please note, the eye icon also acts as a toggle. Tap once, the person will be unhidden. Tap a second tome & then the eye will reappear hiding the person once again.
  • Once the eye symbol is gone, the thumbnail of the person will become visible again.

The search functionality in Google Photos is rudimentary.
However, I find the search is taking too much time.
 
Nevertheless, have you tried the standard troubleshooting steps for the browser?
  • Delete browsing history & cookies.
  • Disable extensions
  • Reset browser
  • Try another browser.
  • Try searching through any browser on your phone.
Can you inform?

  • I did Delete browsing history, cache & cookies on my Chrome. I restarted the computer. The issue also exists on both my web search and my android phone Photos app search. Some search terms deliver the correct results, other searches that should yield easy results (the word is in the file name, description, location or all three) deliver no results just the swirling blue circle. I expect more from Google, the leader in search algorithms.  I say about 70% of search results seem to work, so i guess i just have to live with the issue.

Giving the same name is not sufficient. After you give the same name Google usually asks whether it is the same person. When you confirm the groups should merge.
