I have never used (or needed) an app like this.. usually just sharing by email or text handles it fine on my end and nobody I share with has complained about limitations or their end.

The Snapseed app has a size setting, but after briefly trying to test it, it seems a bit confusing.

The Image Size app might be best for your needs.

When you share a photo there is the option to share the location or not in the album options.

Every time I boot up my (Windows 7) computer, I get a warning that Photos will no longer be working as a backup, and each time with a button to click to install B&S, which I have already done several times. Each time I get that strange file box for "New Folder\

I am only 74 but after reading all the comments about B&S I decided NOT to use it. It's dead simple to upload manually directly to Google Photos:
After the upload you will be asked whether you want to add the photos to an album. B&S does not care about albums.

I just tested this and received no immediate notification via email or notification icon.

He MIGHT notice, particularly if there are few members in the shared album, by your missing icon.

If you are one of the 400 plus people in Mike Elgan's Nicebook, he won't notice:

Someone told me she left an album I shared, by mistake (the leaving was by mistake), I can still see her icon though ....

At present, you can set only the WhatsApp status or send the pics to someone through a message.
However, the same is not possible for setting the DP in WhatsApp.
Nevertheless, you can access the Google Photos cloud storage through WhatsApp & change the DP.

I am having the exact same issue on Google pixel 2 it's been going on for a couple of months now and is quite frustrating when you are trying to identify an animal or plant.  I do not want to spend time going to websites for what might not be what I'm looking for.

This might be my last Android device unless Apple do the same thing I wouldn't know as I've never had an Apple device
