The sequence of my pictures taken oversea are mixed up on the Google Photos whenever I open the app on my computer. It however remains in the correct sequence in the Google Photos app on my phone. 

I found out the reason is because those pictures without a location tag had an incorrect time zone once it's uploaded to the Google Chrome. Instead of recognizing the oversea time zone, Google stamped it with the time zone where the pictures are being uploaded, i.e. back in my home. It can be fixed by individually editing the time zone of each affected photos, however, this will take forever as I have over 2000 photos from the trip. Does anyone know a better of way fixing this? 

I can also foresee this problem to reoccur in the future if I take pictures from a different time zone than home base, and some photos somehow have no location tagged on. Anyone know how to prevent this?

Answer:

You can prevent this in future by adding location data to the pictures from your normal camera via desktopsoftware capable of adding gps before uploading - like Picasa. I have no experience with other software, but something like http://www.gpstrackeditor.com/download probably will do (try on own risc). 

But now the pictures already are mixed in your library and then it becomes more difficult. You should look to the exact camera-name and type in the infopanel and then type that info in the searchbox. 

Then you will able to select a large group and then you can select Edit date & time > Shift all > change timezone say by +5 and hours by -5 and then you can do the same for the next group. 

You only can do this in your browser on your desktop.

My country isn't in the list of those that don't have face grouping and my old account still has face grouping. Also, when i opened google photos on my laptop (with my new account), there was a popup message saying that face grouping is now available but there is no face grouping option in the settings.

(Also (in case this info is relevant), i am in the process of transferring my old photos to my new account. So far, I've only transferred half and new photos are backed up to my new account automatically.)

Go into the settings under your profile and switch-off everything under Suggestions etc. 

PS: you can't switch-off the thumbnails on the Search-page for Locations and Things, but these only are needed for presenting popular search-items and don't disturb the main Photos-page.

You already seems to have asked this before and if you don't use Gmail for your daily mail, you never got notified about our answers just because Google forgets to ask for filling your daily mailadress before posting - since years. 

Best to install a fancy app like Picmonkey or Ribbet ("Picnik") from the Playstore for having these features. For the basic features you don't need to pay.

Of course that is weird, but the main problem with the brilliant iPhones always is that they are not very friendly against these cheap Google apps :-)

So when you view what you really have stored at Google on photos.google.com in Safari when you log-in with your Gmail-account, you may see nothing. And that is the explanation that you don't see anything in the same Google Photos app on iPad, assuming that app is logged-in to the same Gmail-account. 

So come back to report please.

You also could have meant that they were disappeared from your standard gallery, that's why I asked. 

Next check: open photos.google.com in the Chrome-app.

Goodmorning from here and very good to hear Alex because there is your real backup at Google - if empty, you would have lost everything forever for reasons unknown to me, unless someone else has full access to your account. 

 

Normally the app does not show these files at all, unless you would have emptied your standard gallery manually or by using the free-up space function. Then the Camerafolder on the Library-page should be empty also, unless for a very few new shots. 

Is that the case?
