Hi, I was wondering how do you disable the auto enhance feature on the mobile app, because it makes looking at my photos extremely annoying... The issue is that when I open a picture to look at it, it will look as it should (like when I'm looking at it through every other app/computer) just for a split second, after that all the colours will change (for example in dark photos it will boost the luminosity, often over exposing them); it is important to point out that the app does not actually modify the file, it only changes the way it displays it but still, this essentially means that the app is useless for viewing my photos as they don't look like as they are (it is like looking at them through a monitor with the colour calibration all out of whack)

1. Deleted the album.

2. Recreated the album.

3. Copied the photos into the album (drag and drop).

The problem is gone.

Noticed that my other 4 albums were now fine. Didn't touch them.

In addition to viewing my albums on Windows 10, I also watch them with the Google Photos app on Roku (to an 11 year old Panasonic plasma tv) as well as casting from my Android One phone (Nokia 7.2) to a Vizio TV. [Aside, it really demonstrates the poor color quality of the Vizio (my son's 65"), definitely will get a Samsung QLED Q80. Even the old plasma is vastly superior to the color quality of the Vizio ]

I do understand the inconvenience as you're unable to get the People folder in your Google Photos. Therefore, could you please confirm if you've followed the below steps to turn on the face grouping in your Google Photos app?

Once you delete them from the trash they are permanently deleted; they are only recoverable in 60 days if they are still in the trash.

You could try using a third party photo recovery app at this point to try to recover some of what was lost from your phone - just type photo recovery into the play store and see what options are available.

When the storage is used by Google Photos you can recover it by using RECOVER STORAGE in https://drive.google.com/settings.
When storage is used by Drive I think that you must delete the photos to recover the storage. You can also contact the Drive help team in that case

Storage may be used in Drive either because the setting was "Original" quality, or because the photos got stuck in Drive and did not sync to Photos.

Firstly, Thanks for quick response. Problem is not what it shows online, problem is what it's not showing. I have google backup and sync installed and when I select photos folder for sync it's saying 300+gb of data needs to be downloaded. So basically I have uploaded 300+gb of fotos on google cloud. I moved from an old andriod to a new android phone.

Before I migrate, I uploaded my pic and video files to Google Photo. When I changed the phones, I downloaded through Google 3 archive files with all that I took from the old phone. Then I restored the factory settings of the old guy.

When I unarchived them, I found that ALL files are organized differently - not in folders showing the different apps (WhatsApp, Viber, etc.), but in folders starting with "localPost-xxxx" or, Photos from ..." (year follows)...

My questions:

1. If I re-organize the photos on the phone (delete some, move photos from one folder to another, etc) , and then a scheduled syncs happen, would that change the organization of photos in Google Photos?

2. Should I do vice versa - organize everything in Google Photos and then expect the syncs process to do the same in the phone's memory?

PS: your download problem is abnormal, but the jpg-format is normal (png is for screenshots).

But the Whatsapp-pictures are in their own "folders" in the Gallery and under Pictures on device on the Library page of the Google app - so normally no need to get downloaded at all.

If you have completely deleted photos and videos from your account, then it is no longer possible to restore them, especially two years later. You can look at the Album archive & Drive by opening all the folders, it is possible that they were saved somewhere in other Google services

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

What you observed is the design feature of the Sync function.

Sync means that your photo library stays consistent across all devices that are signed in to your account with Google Photos.
For example, deleting a photo from one device will delete it from everywhere, and editing a photo on the web will edit the photo on the original device.

Nevertheless, to remove pics from the phone gallery but retain the copies in Google Photos is relatively easy.

To do so, tap on the photo you want to remove & then slide up.

Below the photo, if you find the text "Delete from device", then tap on that.

If not, the photo is not there on the cloud & you need to upload that first.

If you want to take the same action in bulk, use the option "Free up space".

Then, the app backs up everything first & removes the originals from the device.

However, once the backup & sync is on, never delete the pics directly. Else, because of the sync action, you will lose both the one on the phone and the cloud at the same time.
