Hello , I have some suggestions to improve google photos app in iOS 

1)In the past google photos version. When you stop running back up, and click on the ( back up is off ) button it's show you only the photos and video that not back up . But now on the new version you can't . So please add button to show not backed up photos and video only 

2)when you want to delete photos from google photos it also delete it from your phone . So please add option to delete photos only from google photos .

3)make option to change photos uploading type. Like selecting some photos and change from original quality to save storage quality

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.
 
When the quantum of photos awaiting the free up action is too large & also the phone has very little space, the "free up space" command fails to do anything. 
Also, the app may crash.
 
To mitigate the problem, please start deleting manually. 
To do so, tap to open the photo. If you find an option "Delete from device" below the pic, tap that.
 
Once a sizable space is free, you can try using the "Free up space" option again.
 
However, before deleting any picture, it's always prudent to copy those on some external HDD. That eliminates the chance of any accidental loss of the media from the phone or cloud.

You can search by file size for Drive or Gmail, but not for Photos. But you can just type a query in the search box: "movie" and see all your video files.

Normally you would use the free-up space option of the Photos-app to be sure that you don't delete items which are not saved at Google yet. 
If you start doing that yourself outside the app, you may delete the backup at Google also.

I recorded a video that which is 3.6 GB, I've tried to upload the video to my cloud so I can access it on my computer, however it never loads, I've had problems with videos uploading to my cloud in the past, but I found if I just leave the google photos app open, the loading circle would load in like 30 mins. but now nothing will make it upload. I need to post this video to YouTube so I tried editing the video in google photos so I can directly upload the video to YouTube from my phone, but editing it always fails. If I trim the length of the video it just never saves the changes, and if I cut the aspect ratio it just says there is an error. So then I tried to create a google photos link so I can open the link on my computer, but It never loaded the link. So then I tried connecting my phone to my laptop to directly load the video on my laptop so I can save it to a SD card and then transfer it to my computer, but when I tried to get the video on my laptop it just said decoding failed. I am completely lost on what to do, any help would be very appreciated.

Thanks for posting in the Google Photos Help Forum.

I understand and I'll be happy to help. It can be possible that the photos weren't uploaded successfully to Google Photos (cloud) and also make sure you're logged in to Google Photos with the same Google Account that you used during the backup. Photos/videos that are not synced or backed up, will still appear in Google Photos and will have this icon  (which means not synced/backed up) or some photos/videos will also show up with the two arrows in a circle mean backup is in progress.

Once the upload is complete there will be no icon on any photos/videos. Often, many of us misinterpret that they are all backed up because the photos/videos show up in Google Photos and we over see the icons on each photo/video. If the photos/videos weren't backed up they cannot be deleted from the Google Photos library nor Trash.

In case, you are uploading a large amount of data (photos/videos), please know that it might take 24-48 hours for the photos and videos to sync across all devices. Please ensure to have 'Backup & sync' enabled on the Google Photos settings while you're backing up your photos and videos. To check is the content is backed up, login in to photos.google.com to checked for your backed up photos and videos. 

However, if you're sure they were backed up, I recommend you looking for your video here:
If a photo/s is deleted from Google Photos, it would go to Trash/Bin for the next 60 days (after deletion). Unfortunately, if the photos aren't found in Trash or deleted from Trash, I'm afraid, you might not find them else where to recover them because Trash is the last resort to retrieve your lost/deleted photos.

Meanwhile, ensure you're logging in to Google Photos with the correct Google Account that was actually used for the backup.
