I had quite a few facetags identified in my Google Photos page, but about 3/4 of them disappeared when I went to look at them today. The face groupings are still there and they haven't lost any actual tags, but the names are all gone.

Did some searching and identified some similar problems people encountered back in 18 and 19 but of course nobody actually received any answers. Curious if any solutions have come around in the few years since?

To re-iterate

• Had a bunch of face tags
• Face tag names are now mostly gone
• The groupings are all still there
• I did not lose any photos
• I do have face grouping turned on in my settings
• No, I haven't turned off face grouping and then turned it back on again

Since this is likely a backend bug I don't expect any actual answers here, but if some Google god is benevolently looking down upon my world, if you could kick my server around a little that'd be real cool 🙏😂

I do understand the inconvenience as you're receiving notifications for adding new photos to the shared album which you didn't. Therefore, I recommend trying the steps below in sequence, this may help in fixing the issue:

• Make sure your device is up-to-date.
  
• Make sure the App is up-to-date.
  
• Try restarting the App through the following steps:
  
• Go to your App Settings.
• Click stop on the afflicted App with the Force Stop button.
• Wait a few seconds to make sure the App has stopped processing, and then attempt to re-start it.
• Close the background running apps through the following steps:
  
• Go to your App Settings.
• Display the Active Apps on your device.
• Select the App you wish to close and Force Stop it.
• Repeat this step with all active Apps.
• Try clearing your App cache through the following steps:
  
• Tap the system Settings tab on the main screen of your device.

• Tap Storage in the General tab.
• Clear the cache data once storage calculates the data.

Google is not responsible for the design of that Marketplace, so if the needed picture is not present on your phone anymore, you need to download it from Google Photos if it is there. Then open that picture and hit the 3 dots to see the Download option.

If your gallery hardly contains any photos anymore after applying the free-up space notification (maybe very urgently needed?), you need to download some more from Google Photos - one-by-one. 

We don't know the reason why you can't download more at the same time, because that is no problem in the iPhone-version of the Google Photos app. 

And I don't know about FB Marketplace, but in Whatsapp I can reach Google Photos in a bit weird way - after pressing the paperclip, I choose Gallery and then I hit the 3 dots right-up and then I see Google Photos and even my albums in Google Photos.

I do understand the inconvenience as your Google Photos are getting synchronized every time back up and sync is turned on. Therefore, I recommend trying the steps below in sequence, this may help in fixing the issue:

• Clear the cache and cookies.
  
• Try another browser or operating system.
  
• Try an incognito mode.
  
• Disable browser plugins or extensions. (Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Safari instructions.)
  
• Have a domain or network administrator help you with firewall and/or server settings.
  
• Try disabling and then re-enabling offline access.
  
• Sign out of your Google account and sign back in.
  
• Make sure your device's operating system is running the latest version.
  
• Restart your device.
  
• Take a look at your Wi-Fi connection and make sure it's up and running.
