To move multiple pics from one folder to other, you can follow these steps.

• Open Google Photos.
• Tab Library.
• Tap the desired folder under Photos on the device like Camera, Screenshots etc.
• Select photos by long pressing then, tap others after the tick confirms the first selection
• You can also long-press and stroke down while still in a pressed condition to select a batch.
• Next, tap the three-dot menu top right.
• Tap Move to folder.
• Tap app will display a list of available folders. Select the right one & move the pics.

2. Pinch the screen to show the Month view
3. Long press the month to select the whole month
4. Tap Share  and select Save to device
5. Repeat for other months or select more months at a time

There is no easy way to remove these photos from your account. The following may help:

• You can go to "Recently added" under the "Sharing" tab on Android, or to https://photos.google.com/search/_tra_ in a browser: items are there sorted by upload date. When you are lucky the first (big) batch should be there together on one day.  
• You can search on the camera used to take a photo (use name as shown in the info of a photo). That may help when your wife uses another camera.

If it are pictures from your own phone-camera, the dates should be "date taken" indeed. But if they were downloaded from social media they never have correct dates anymore. 

Also check what you see straight at Google on photos.google.com in the Chrome-app. There you will find the Favorites under the 3 small lines left-up. 

If they are correct there, the app needs to be resetted - come back to report please.

If you don't pay and if your storage is beyond 15 gb. All the photos above 15 gb gets disappeared and even you can't access your receive or send email on your gmail. 

 

The photos are in Google photos servers for up to 2 years if suppose you don't pay 

 

For eg you paid for September. And you didn't paid for October then you won't able to see Photos beyond 15gb in month of October and even can't receive send email. But if you paid in month of November you will able to see the photos and use Gmail again

The text entry feature in Google Photos is rudimentary.

Nevertheless, you can follow these steps to enter the desired text

• Tap to open the required Photo.
• Next, tap on the edit  symbol at the bottom 
• Horizontally scroll the menu bar with the text "Suggestions" & reach the option "Mark-up". Tap in that,
• In markup, tap on text . Add the desired text
• However, the text editor enters the text in the middle.
• Nevertheless, complete the text entry & then long-press on the textbox to the position at any desired place.

Save the picture after entering the text.

The instructions work Adroid phone up to the point of 'Add the desired text': The keyboard appears momentarily and then disappears. 'Type something is displayed but as no keyboard no text can be typed.  Phone restarted, issue still present. Google photos deleted, phone restarted, Google photos reinstalled, phone restarted, issue still present. Google photos cache cleared (Settings > Apps > Photos > Storage > clear cache) phone restarted, issue still present.

Selecting the hamburger and adding description to photo works.

Such mysterious issues can't be solved via this forum. 

You should use the feedback option under your profile in order to report this problem straight to Google because then they also receive your device specific properties for evaluating. And then you only may hope that this problem is solved before Christmas by surprise. 

 

So best to install Google Snapseed because then you will have much more interesting textoptions.

After restarting your phone, you open a selected photo and then start in the Photos-editor and go to More to start Snapseed and you will find the textoption under Tools. The result will get stored in a Snapseed folder under Pictures on device, so you can backup a good result from there manually.

Thank you for your time and response. I was actually just sharing my experience to let others they were not alone. I know such problems are either relatively easy to fix or have to be lived with until a new version is released.  I solved my issue by loading the image into Drawing on Linux. I will try your solution as this time I was lucky enough to have access to a desktop when required. Next time I may not be so lucky.

If many reply with the same complaint, we can bring this problem under the attention of the community manager. But not many will use the editor at all and adding text (or markings) is not a quite popular function either. So the posts are too limited to be able to get reported as a bug.

Most users don't pay for additional space yet, else they can have direct support - but that will not solve such device-dependant problems I am afraid. 

And you are speaking about "boxes" but that is not the same as using the app on your Android-phone. Like the Android-box on Chromebooks which seems not very standard either????

It makes no sense what you want to do because an sd-card is part of your phone, so if lost or stolen the card provides no additional security - in contrary. 

Instead you should create albums in the Google Photos app because these are stored at Google and will survive your phone. That is not needed for the Camera-folder, but for other folders under Pictures on device on the Library-page. Just open such a folder, select all and then hit the + and choose Album and name that album. Next time you only need to select the newly added photos and they can be directed to that named album via the + 

Such albums also can be viewed at the bottom of the same page and can be sorted alphabetically. 

You also can build thematic album by starting on the Photos-page which shows the contents of the camerafolder mainly, but then for sharing.

PS: if you have a Windows-computer their also are simple methods to copy the device folders.
