  • Check the account and other Backup and sync settings on your iOS app.
  • Make sure that your Google Photos app is up-to-date.
  • Make sure that you login to the Google Photos app on your iOS device and look for "Backup complete" when you tap on your photo (or initial icon) in the upper right hand corner.
  • If you don't delete recent(ly used) apps, do so.
  • If you don't turn off your device periodically, do so.
If you still have a problem, check your upload speed. Maybe download if find and upload is not (especially if you record a lot of video).
 
Other input is welcome.. I will check back, but possibly not for 12 hours.

I don't normally respond to Android questions because I don't really use it anymore. You might want to create a new post (rather than replying in this iOS post)..  You might also want to delete the image or obscure your email address... although the chances of the address being scraped by a robot are low, there might be other reasons...
 
Some general suggestions:
Double check that you are really using the same account in the Google Photos settings and https://photos.google.com/u/0/
 
Close all ~Recent Apps~ on the new phone.  If you haven't turned it on/off in weeks, then do so.
Make sure that you are not critical for overall space on the new phone.
 
Make sure that the upload speed on the Wi-Fi you are using (assuming that you have Wi-Fi only set for Backup and sync) is reasonable.

Yes, it will re-upload all the deleted photos once you start the backup and sync app as the path to upload the photos is same again.

Incase if you change the source/path, it will upload from the new source.

I recently had some photos texted to me from someone I have not met.  "She" claims to have taken them yesterday in some attempt at proving identity.  In the past, I could download the picture and click the "info" tab and see when it was taken.  Google photos has since done away with this tab, and it seems now that none of the pictures texted to me from anyone display the time/date when taken anymore.  Naturally, the "Help" section in Google photos does as much good as throwing a bottle of water to a drowning man.  Does anyone have a solution to this to help me find the date it was taken, not just the date I saved it?

Images shared via social media are severely stripped - so they have lost their actual shooting dates and thereby are problematic in any serious collection. 
Of course Google forgets to warn for such typical third party failures, but they could have replaced the missing data by the date & time they were uploaded to Google which often is very close to the actual shooting dates.  
But their Holy Rule is not to change picture-data apart from some file-compression if "high quality" was selected by the user. 
So we can do nothing hélas. 

PS: you can see date&time (correct or nonsense) when you move-up a single image in the app a bit.

This is by design. When your phone is synching, it is also synching deletes and changes.

The safest simplest way to manage images on your phone is:

1.  Do all deletions in the in the Google Photos app.  Only use the Trash can for images you never want again.

2. Use "Free up space" to remove all backed up images from your phone.  (You can also "Delete device originals" via the 3 dot menu.

Also note, 
Using Google Photos and iCloud Photo Library (not iCloud settings backup) simultaneously can cause issues. If you use both of these search this forum for more information. But actually, just don't do it.

That is, you must have the same account on both phones.

  • Either download to computer & upload to Drive

Thanks, that was a good plan.  On my phone I selected the photos, then found share and picked save to google drive.  I was then able to pick the subfolder and now they are being uploaded again to google drive.
Then I will need to delete them from google photos.  Hopefully if I delete them on the web, they will be deleted on the phone also, and not resurface tomorrow on both sides.
I appreciate that the Google corporation tries to make their systems functional, but I am truly challenged, yet again, at trying to follow the thought process with Drive and Photos.

First of you should check the Trash; any photos that were previously backed up and deleted less than 60 days ago will be in there.
 
Once you delete them from the trash they are permanently deleted; they are only recoverable in 60 days if they are still in the trash. 
 
You could try using a third party photo recovery app at this point to try to recover some of what was lost from your phone - just type photo recovery into the play store and see what options are available.

I uploaded Dir X back in the day to back up my images, but then I had decided to upload the parent directory, Dir A, instead. When I did that, I ended up with duplicates of directories present in Dir X. For example, I would see 2 copies of Dir F and the files would sometimes be shared between the 2 directories (it was weird). 

To fix this, I moved Dir A to the bin on the server via the web app (it is still there, I havent permanently deleted it), resigned-in on the backup app on my PC and that triggered a new upload of Dir X as expected. However, there seems to be a small hickup where it says certain images were not uploaded because they are already present in Google Photos. And they are, but I would like for those files to be present via the Drive view as well (where on Google Drive -> My Computer you can see the directory structure of your backup). 

TL;DR The images show up on Google Photos but not on Google Drive's backup section under "My Computer". Hopefully this makes sense. Any help?

The first time that PicA in folder A is synced to Drive, PicA also will appear on Photos. 
All later changes within folders may remove PicA from Drive, but PicA will stay at Photos forever.

I see, I understand that but to me it just seems kinda silly that they cannot index the images into the directory structure in Drive if it detects an "overlap" between the two services. Google always disappoints somewhere hélas. 

But you can share an album with your second account and when opened, you can select all and then hit the + to create a new album which you can give the same name as the original album. Then the sharing can be broken, because the new albums belongs now to your second account. 
However: that will be a lot of work if you have many albums.
