If you don't see one or two WA-folders under Picture on device on the Library-page, check the main settings in the WA-app that media are downloaded automatically.

Maybe you have to wait until new photochats roll-in.

And if you open such a folder, you can switch-on Backup - then their contents will become visible on the Photos-page between your own folders.

Normally that's all - at least on Android - but I don't know for iPhones - check on your old phone.

PS: you should be aware that sharing via WA is low quality - especially because of missing dates. Later downloads to computer for creating a secundary backup and a better collection will be placed on the date of downloading instead of their original shooting dates like with normal pictures.

You only can look at photos.google.com in the Safari-browser and then log-in with the Google-account used through all years in the backup-settings of the Google Photos app.

There may be other opinions, but frankly I think by requiring that the person not having Google Photos (or at least a Google / Gmail account) you are making it much more difficult. Really, it seems like you might be trying to use a consumer grade tool for an SMB purpose (e.g., pushing it a little past its intended design).

The easiest way that I can think of is to create a shared album and allow collaboration then invite all potential contributors to Join the album using a Google account. Contributors would then upload images to the shared album - this is very straight forward using the web interface (but MAY require uploading to Google Photos first on some mobile devices).

Other ideas are welcome!

When a co-worker has no Google account he/she cannot add photos to an album. Thus he/she must either create an account (also possible based on a non-gmail address) or send photos by any other means to the owner of the album or someone else who has a Google account. That is more laborious, and the name of the one who uploaded will appear rather than the name of the author.

Sounds like a nightmare to me. I feel sorry for the person receiving the email. It seems like it would be easy to get distracted in the the middle of the process and miss an image or duplicate some (which will probably be more obvious). It seems like some type of reconciliation will be required in the process and this should be considered up front (e.g., like the sender providing a record count and check total for the amounts).

Guessing: if your originals were hevc-files from some iPhone and uploaded at "high quality", they are converted into larger mp4 files - maybe also when edited.

I looked at the infopanels next day after the videos were processed. Both were m4v videos in H265 with AAC audio. And the file from photos is H264 if I download it. Seems no problem for the 15gb limit but quite strange.

Files below 1 GB are peanuts and my restricted experience with normal 1080p videos uploaded at high quality is that they are compressed to about 1/10 of their original filesize, so they hardly count within my 15 GB space - even if uploaded after June 1.

But you did not answer my guess that they were converted into mp4 videos after uploading and editing and that conversion can explain there filesize explosion.

Some things are hard to understand indeed:

When you select one or more photos anywhere, and click "Share" > "Create link", it creates what they also call an album in the warning: "Let anyone with the link see photos and people in this album."
The funny thing is that you find "this album" in the Sharing tab under "Other shared links" in the right upper corner. That brings you to https://photos.google.com/sharing/sharedlinks with on top: "Manage links that you've created for photos and videos that aren't in an album"
What you find there is a collection of "albums that aren't albums" with no meaningful title (dates) and thus hard to find, for example to share to other people. Kind of useless.
When you open one of these "albums that aren't albums" and you click the 3-dots you see for example "Edit album", and when you click on it you can suddenly give it a title! Great. It now looks like a real album. It still does not appear in the Albums tab (https://photos.google.com/albums), but you find now under the 3-dots also "Show in albums": it became like a real album.

In the past they consistently used the term "albums", now they suddenly decided that these are no albums, but "Shared links", but they still use the term "albums" everywhere. It's even hard to follow for the developers ...

The 15 GB has nothing to do with June 1 - it just is the basic free space in your Gmail-account used for Gmail itself and Google Drive + Google Photos. So you easily can have 5 GB for Gmail only or a few big files on Drive - just guessing of course.

Come back if the 5 GB is at Photos merely.

I scrolled down and after about 70 photos found 3 current photos on my iphone, then scrolled past another 40 that are not on my phone but were uploaded form my laptop, and then found another 5 that are on my phone.

None of the volunteers in this forum have access to any records about your account, photos, or other personal information. Therefore, there is no way that anybody here would be able to tell you if your account has been compromised.

I recommend these steps for securing your Google account and data:
- do a security checkup of your account
- do a privacy checkup of your account
- change your Google account password
- enable 2-step verification
- review your Google Play order history for suspicious activity; report unauthorized charges HERE

I followed the first link you shared however the contact us option does not bring me somewhere I can actually contact someone regarding the issues with my photobook. The only option I can find available is to share feedback on this open forum. I would like to discuss the quality issue with my photobook and discuss possible remedies with someone from the team.

I don't subscribe to one google so unfortunately this option doesn't work for me.
