If okay, they also should become visible in the new app when you log-in with the same account under the small circle right-up.

Such questions can't be answered because nobody else then you should have access to your account and everyone can do something stupid causing a lot of trouble for you.

So the only advise is: change your google password to exclude anyone else and after updating your new password in all Google-apps and in the main settings of your phone, start deleting these strange shots from Google Photos. You also need to tell your boyfriend and your mom about your action and thereafter you simply can share selected pics with them and they with you.

Hi Josh,

Unsupported means that the internal structure of the video prevents it from being transcoded into an MP4 which is the standard used for storing at High Quality.

Corrupted means that some internal damage to the video has been introduced by a bad WiFi or Data signal during the backup.

For each of these conditions a video may be stuck in transcoding and eventually be placed in the unsupported folder and stored at original size. It may take a while for this to time out, it could even be weeks.

If you don't see this, let's go back to the video and try to work out what has happened.

What type of video is it, and where was it produced. By the Pixel using the standard camera, or by some other app or device.

You should have waited on the message "Backup complete" under your profile before starting with deleting in your gallery. So nobody can do anything for you anymore, but your gallery may a have trash which is not automatically emptied - so there is a tiny chance they still are there and can be recovered.

If you deleted an item and want it back, check your trash to see if it’s there.

If the item is not in your trash, it may be permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.

Steps to recover deleted photos from Trash are as follows:

On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Photos app .
And check the Trash .
Click Restore

It is unclear why you started free-up space unless you really had too less space on your phone indeed. But that does not have anything to do with your space at Google Photos (not Drive).

And you could have read that Google only will remove the pictures from your phone that already are saved safely on photos.google.com. So they also should be visible in the Photos-app if you are logged-in with the same account as used in the backupsettings of the app.

In order to solve your spaceproblem at Google you need to look at one.google.com/storage and to log-in with the account your are using for backupping in the Photos-app. And then come back to tell us the 3 numbers you see for further advise.

You can resize the photo through the steps mentioned below.

To reduce the photo size, you can do so through these two options in Google Photos.

Upload the picture in high quality. That will produce some size reduction.
Crop the pic to remove unwanted portions from the borders. That will give further sizer reduction.

Still, if you wish to have some more reduction, then please use another app "Snap seed" by Google.

Once installed, the editor in Google Photos shows that option through "More".

In the settings of Snap seed, you can do image resizing within a range from 4000 px to 800 px. Additionally, you can choose JPEG compression ranging from 95% to 85%

A combination of both options would resize the file to the desired number of 1 MB.

Once done, you can attach that to the email.

It's possible that resetting your Account in the App will fix this problem. You can try the following:

Open Google Photos App on your phone.
Tap the icon with your image (or initial) in upper right of screen.
Tap on your email address.
Select Use Without an Account
Power off your phone and power it back on.
Repeat Steps 1 - 3 above but now choose to Add an account and sign back into your original account.
Go back to Settings and be sure Backup & Sync is toggled on, then wait an hour or so and see if the backup starts to work in the background.

There are many photos inside those folders, I checked them all using a file manager app. It's like the Photos app "forgot" the path to these folders. They are even gone in the Photos if I access it using a browser, despite they were selected to be backed up. Google Photos literally forgot the way to find these photos.

A recent similar problem was cleared by a suggestion from one of my colleagues as follows.

In Photos tap the 3 bar menu:> email address:>Remove active account, repeat if you have more than one account
Open Play Store and locate the Photos app
Uninstall, on newer builds this will uninstall updates back to the factory loaded version
for factory loaded Photos select the 3 dot menu disable auto update
Restart the phone or power off then power on
return to Play Store and reinstall if necessary, or leave at the factory loaded version
Check the operation of Photos
for factory loaded Photos re-enable auto update and re-check

I'm trying to only backup photos from my camera folder but for some reason when I try to deselect all other device folders from being backed up it only shows half of the folders that are in my gallery, and as a result the app thinks the other photos from the device folders, that it apparently doesn't recognize, are part of the pictures from the camera folder, and are being mixed in and backed up even though I don't want them to be.

Can you please let me know if there is anything I can do to fix this? :(

What you call folders probably are collections ("albums") you have created that gallery and these are shown in that gallery only because it are no folders.

You can't prevent that pictures in the general Camerafolder get backupped (or at least are shown), but you hide "certain pictures" in the main view by archiving them. And from other folders shown under Pictures on device you can decide individually which one get backupped and which one not.

If that is not good enough for you, you need to switch-off the backup in the main settings under your profile and then you should select manually which ones should be backupped.

I'm aware that I can't prevent photos from my camera gallery from being shown or backed up unless I turn the sync setting off, but the problem is that most of the albums that I created on my phone aren't showing up in the Google photos app. And as a result they're getting thrown in along with the photos from my camera gallery. And the app won't allow me to deselect them from being backed up DUE to the fact that it thinks they're from my camera album.

Oh, and while there IS an option to create your own photo albums in the app -when you go into the back up and sync settings it actually does classify the one's being backed up from your phone as "device folders". When you create folders in your actual phone gallery, however, they do call them albums as well. (Just thought I'd mention this)

I also attached pictures if you want to see the comparison from the folders that the app see's to the amount of albums I actually have on my phone. I'm not sure if there's a limit to the amount of folders that you can register or not but I'm just genuinely confused as to why this is happening, and would very much appreciate some feedback (:

If you had spend the same amount of time on creating nice albums within Google Photos, you would have a collection that will survive your phone and can be used and viewed in many ways outside your phone.

Like most people in the world you need to turn your way of thinking completely unless you are not interested in Google at all. But then you should create your own backup on computer and then you also would see that albums in your "Samsung Gallery" are not found anywhere by your computer.

If you are not able to do that, you are dependant on Google only. Just for safety primarily.

So Google Photos only can store the individual photos shooted by your camera and photos downloaded by other media like Whatsapp or downloaded by you from where-ever. And you have to create thematic albums yourself in the app in the lower part of the Library-page. Just because your backup at Google becomes much more valuable then and will survive any future phones.

I have no experience with Samsung Cloud, so I don't know if these albums are converted into folders in that cloud. But that cloud will stop soon (or is stopped already) and will be proceeded by Microsoft's OneDrive and i don't know what that cloud will do with your albums. I am not going to test that for you, because that would be very free timeconsuming.

Can't add more because it is hard to analyse what you are doing now and what your interests are.

For me Google is my pictorial diary on many devices and thereby managed with great care.
