Help for back my permanently deleted photos from trash
Hi Sumit,
I’m sorry, it’s not possible to recover photos permanently deleted from the Google Photos Trash. However, you may install to your Android device a deleted photo recovery app (be sure to pick one that doesn't require rooting) https://play.google.com/store/search?q=recover%20deleted%20photos&c=apps and run a scan for anything to recover.

My previously synced photos and videos are no longer visible in the photos app.
Before new police came into effect, all the photos started syncing automatically to google photos and later I found that there are thousands of photos and hundreds of videos are no longer visible in the photos app?
Where can I find previously synced photos and videos? I can't see photos of May 2020 and before. They were already synced in the app and later I deleted them from my phone thinking they were already backed up.
Now, whenever the app is doing auto backup, only those which are in the phone are getting synced and not the old ones which were already synced.

Answer:
Hi, Sanket Khobragade
Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.
You have correctly analysed the root cause of your problem.
You have confirmed that the photos were "Syncing"
Sync means that your photo library stays consistent across all devices that are signed in to your account with Google Photos.
For example, deleting a photo from one device will delete it from everywhere, and editing a photo on the web will edit the photo on the original device.
For example, deleting a photo from one device will delete it from everywhere, and editing a photo on the web will edit the photo on the original device.
Now since you deleted the pics on your device the app synchronised the changes on the cloud also removing corresponding backed up images.
However, if your delete action is not older that 60 days & you have not emptied the bin, you may find the deleted pictures there.
If so, select all & restore those quickly.
Answer:
Hi,
This doesn't answer or solve the problem I'm facing.
I can see the pictures on Google photos desktop version but not in phone? Why?
You ask us to sync the photos and then also ask us to free up space from device. When we do, you simply remove those photos from app also?
What's the point of backing up the photos then?
Answer:
Hi, Sanket Khobragade
Thanks for the clarification.
Then I find you have not deleted the pics but used the "Free up space" option.
Free up space always removes the originals through the source device once everything is backed up to the cloud, That's the design intent of the free up space function.
Since, you can see the pics through the weblink, that means your photos are intact on the cloud,
If you are not able to see those through the phone app, please clear the stored data. If that doesn't work, please uninstall & reinstall the app.
Answer:
Hi,
Thank you getting back to me. I tried clearing the app data, reinstalling it multiple times but those old photos and videos are still not visible in the application?
Answer:
Hi, Sanket Khobragade
Thanks for your reply
Can you try to do so through another route? Please enter the link https://photos.google.com in any of the web browsers available on your phone. Log into your account & then see whether the photos become visible there?
Answer:
Hi, Sanket Khobragade
Thanks for your reply
Glad to know you can see the pics through the web link.
Now, can you please inform how much is the free space on your phone?
Also what is the upload & download speed of your internet connection?
Answer:
Hi,
There's 24 GB free space available on my phone.
Upload speed is 24-25 MBPS and download speed is 15-16 MBPS .
Answer:
Hi, Sanket Khobragade
Thanks for your reply
I suggest, you reinstall the app through the following steps.
- On your Android phone, open the Settings.
- Tap Apps and notifications.
- Tap Show all apps.
- Tap Google Photos.
- Tap Storage and cache.
- Tap Clear storage.
- Next, uninstall the Google Photos app. If your phone doesn't allow to do so, rollback all the updates.
- Power off the phone & then restart.
- Install the latest version of the Google Photos app through the Play Store.
Log into your profile & see whether that helps to overcome the current
Also, If you are using a WIFI network, please try disconnecting all other devices & connect your phone only.
Disable any data saver mode and also battery saver mode.
Shut down all the background apps & keep only Google Photos open.

Answer:
Hi, Kim Elkien
Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.
Did you edit the pic through Google Photos?
If yes, then the editor does two types of edits.
- Reversible. In these case, you can go back to the original one by tapping the edit symbol. In the edit menu, you will find an option to revert to the original pic
- Irreversible. However, Google Photos doesn't overwrite the original & saves a copy. If you do not find the revert command in edit menu, then search for the original which will be there in your collection in the same chronological order.
However, if you have deleted the original after creating an edited version, then nothing can be done to get that back, except for searching in the bin if the action was not older than sixty days.

Did you just replace your old phone with a new one?
If so, I'm worried that your pictures were ONLY on your old phone and were not copied over to your new phone?
Do you still have your old phone? Did the person at the store that helped you with your new phone say they were copying over your pictures?
It is possible to set your phone to make copies of your pictures and store them on-line where they are safer. But, you would have had to turn that on.
I am going to move your question to the Google Photos Forum. The experts there can tell you how to check your phone and can help you setup the backup option so this never happens to you again.

When I scroll on the Photos Android application for a particular time frame, in my case 29th Dec 2015, it shows images of my photos from other incorrect dates in the place of the correct photos.
On PC the photos are correct.
If I search with keyword 'December 15' on Android they are correct. If I search by Scotland on Android (where I went on the days in question) they are correct. But when I scroll using the tab on the right to those dates it shows me incorrect images. This is not right.
Just checked & the correct number of images are showing by date just the wrong ones.

This seems to be a glitch & I'm not sure how widespread without comparing PC to android.

Hi, Karen Briody
Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.
The editor in the Google Photos app allows corrections in the orientation of pictures.
To do so, please follow these steps through the phone app.
- Tap to open the picture
- Tap on the edit icon below the picture
- Tap on menu option Crop. See the screenshot at the bottom.
- Tap on the rotation symbol for achieving a turn through ninety degrees. Each successive tap will add ninety degrees going through 90 -> 180 -> 270 -> and again back to 360 degrees.
- That will help you correcting sideways or upside-down orientations.
- If you wish to fine-tune then move the slider above the rotation symbol. That helps in correcting slight misorientations at an increment of one degree.

I changed the backup to high quality before June 1st so why is it still being counted towards my 15g of storage? I also went through and deleted hundreds of pictures and videos which didn't make much of a difference at all.
Answer:
Hello Erin Arruda,
You may have uploaded Original size photos which do count.
Head over to https://photos.google.com/quotamanagement This should give a clue on where the storage is being used. Large photos and videos >5MB are listed and can be reviewed.
Storage may be reduced by going to https://photos.google.com/settings and using the Recover storage option.
If you need to subscribe to Google One you can Create a family group then share the storage between members and it can be used in addition to their own 15GB

Some of my photos are missing. I noticed this last year but ignored it thinking that I might deleted those photos. But few days back, I noticed some of my photos are gone. I never back-up those device folders. I clearly remember I never deleted those. Those went just missing.

Had you backed up the pics to Google Photos?
Are you not finding the deleted pictures there?
Are you not finding the deleted pictures there?
If so, did you delete the pics through Google Photos? or using some Gallery app on your phone?
If you have deleted through Google Photos, then you may still find those in the bin.

Hi, Lal Chhanchhuahi
Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.
To access Google Photos, one needs to log into the corresponding Google account providing the credentials.
You can't make logging into another device mutually exclusive.
However, you can go for a physical security key for two-factor authentication.
Then, unless, that key is plugged into the USB, you will not be able to log into your account.
Then, unless, that key is plugged into the USB, you will not be able to log into your account.
Even when a need comes to do so, you can log off through the second device immediately & remove the security key.
The link below explains how to obtain the physical security key.

I had to transfer all my photos from my Windows PC over to my android phone (DCIM) folder. However these photos are not appearing in the "date taken" order, but rather when they were transferred (ie today).
The photos on my PC all have the 'correct' (ie date taken) info on them but it seems to be an EXIF issue where the phone is either not recognising/reading the date stamps on these photos correctly, and is just making the transfer date the 'date taken'.
I'm frustrated because it should be a relatively simple thing to sort out (on Windows I can just add a 'sort by' date column and voila) yet gallery has just lumped them all together without any way of sorting them.
Please help!
Answer:
Answer:
If you are transferring to a Mac, there is a great little Mac helper App called Raw Right Away that will fix the problem. You can reset the file creation and modification dates to the embedded EXIF timestamp with the Mac app "Raw Right Away." Select the files in Finder and go to Services -> Apply Camera Timestamp.

Answer:
Hi,
The issue with copying photos to the DCIM folder is that Android doesn't have the processing power to analyse the dates so it places them in temporary position based on the dates readily available at in the file metadata.
The photos can be re-synced by signing out and signing in again on the Android app.
- tap the 3 bar menu at the top left of the photos page
- tap your email address and select Remove active account
- login again making sure you are using the same email you are using online
- wait until getting photos finishes, could take a while, please wait until it completes
- check to see if the photos are displayed on the correct date
or clearing the Data
- Go to Settings> Applications> Photos> Storage> Clear Data
- Photos on the device will not be deleted by clearing the data
- return to Photos and wait until 'getting photos' finishes
- this forces the app to reload all the photo placeholders and it should then present them in the same order you see online.
or If there are only one or two images involved you can do a null date change online
- With the device open in Photos, go online using a browser
- Select the online copy of the photos, either singly or in batch
- Choose the 3 dot menu option Edit date & time:> Shift dates & times:> Preview:> Save (or just save if a single photo)
- Depending on the make of phone when hitting Save resets the device copies to the correct date & time
- If it doesn't happen automatically, close the re-open Photos again
This is an ongoing issue, to raise priority please submit feedback via the Android app
While looking at the Android screen with sample photos visible
tap the 3 bar menu:> feedback:> select include screenshot and logs
write the following:
==============================================
ASYNCHRONOUS PHOTOS between web and android app
optionally include any description you think is relevant
==============================================
The above will let the Engineers know the number of people being affected by this to help raise the priority and tie in with the escalation title.
Regards,
Peter

Two days before I accidentally deleted photos from Google photos. Now I want to recover that photos.Already checked in trash folder, but trash folder is empty.
Answer:
Hello There,
If you deleted an item and want it back, check your trash to see if it’s there.
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Photos app
.
- And check the Trash
.
- Click Restore
If the item is not in your trash, it may be permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.
You may also try to get professional help, but sorry to say Google cannot do anything about it.

This is usually because you are using a URL which has details specific to the first account so fails with 404.
You might have to sign out of Google photos then sign in with the alt account for it to work successfully.

We can't know that - you may have a lot of files in Gallery which are not compatible with Google Photos - Apple is good in producing non- standard files. Or downloaded small icons from social media.
You can check on photos.google.com in Safari when you log-in with your Gmail-account if you are missing typical files.
