Thanks for your reply

When we capture a pic through our camera, then the as-is format becomes original quality.

While uploading in high-quality, the Google Photos app compresses that somewhat.

Nevertheless, you will have to do some pre-processing & compress that photo using some photo processing app.

Here is an example of the same photo in High quality & substantially reduced quality.

You may not notice any visual difference in these two pics although the file size is one-tenth of the original one.

If I project the picture on a larger screen, that will appear grainy & will create a lot of dissatisfaction.

Nevertheless, the choice would be yours. You can do pre-processing and then save ten pictures within the space of one.

However, I always prefer to have a few quality pictures instead of hundreds of substandard ones.

The face recognition feature is still evolving.

That may not recognise all the faces.

Nevertheless you can add newer persons manually.

You can add a person through the following steps.

Tap to open the photo which contains unidentified faces & then slide up or tap the three dots.
If the app had failed to include some faces in that picture, then you will see a prompt "XX faces available to add".

Tap the edit icon at the extreme right edge.

That will show identified faces in square boxes & their thumbnails at the bottom.
Tap on the + sign on each thumbnail.
Then the app will show you all the identified faces till that time.
You can select the right one.

If not, tap the + sign at the top right corner of the screen.
That would create a new grouping altogether.

Once created, the app may take some time to bring all the related pictures to this new grouping.
Otherwise, you can go through the collection & add the photos to the newly created group, manually, through the same steps as described above.

Nevertheless, when you tap the delete icon in the Google Photos app, a warning appears telling you what will happen if you proceed. On your phone, that message asks, "Remove from Google account & synced devices?"

When you attempt to manually empty the trash/bin in Google Photos, another warning appears that explains the consequences of permanently deleting those pictures and videos.
If you choose to proceed anyway, there is nothing that any of the volunteers in this forum can do to help you recover your pictures.

As already explained, once a user empties the bin, Google doesn't preserve anything as Google has to honour your wish of forgoing the deleted content.

Further, you have tagged Web. It's not clear what device you had used to capture the pics. Otherwise, scanning a phone to recover deleted items becomes an option at the last resort.

Unfortunately the editing option is missing in European countries and UK for reasons we do not understand. We desperately try to get some clarification from Google, so far without success.

Note that on older accounts, where Face grouping was activated before it became available in Europe, editing is still working. Only accounts where Face grouping was activated later seem affected.

Backup and sync does not have the option to upload only photos. You will have to turn Backup and sync OFF, move the videos to a folder that is not synced, then (temporarily) turn B&S ON again.

Before you proceed with deleting the photos, please turn off backup & sync.

Next, in the photos tab, long-press the first picture till a tick appears on that.
Next stroke your finger down while still in pressed condition.
That will start selecting multiple pictures.
If you park your finger on the bottom edge of the app, the screen will keep on scrolling and selecting pics.
Once you bottom out, press the bin symbol.
Possibly the app will say "Delete permanently" as the size would be too large beyond the capacity of the bin
Acknowledge that & then everything will go.

However please note, this action will be irreversible.

Following is text from the official Google Photos Help page about deleting and restoring photos and videos:

Restore photos & videos
If you deleted an item and want it back, check your trash to see if it’s there.
On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Photos app .
At the bottom, tap Library Trash .
Touch and hold the photo or video you want to restore.
At the bottom, tap Restore. The photo or video will be back:

In your Google Photos library
In any albums it was in
If the item is not in your trash, it may be permanently deleted.

Important:
If you delete a photo or video that’s backed up in Google Photos, it will stay in your trash for 60 days.

You can't do that with one click only because you simply did not understand what you were going to do because of fast clicking. See free-up space

Because you perfectly can view your pictures in the Google app, there is no good reason to want them back because that is quite complicated.

The most simple action is downloading 200 recent ones by installing the Google One app for free.

You will have fresh pictures in gallery soon enough, but better to learn how to use the Google-app a bit better - also for quality sharing instead of using social media.

PS: you also can send an angry feedback straight to Google that they should include that option and that they should warn much more seriously in large red lettering.

I have been having this problem for the past 2 weeks while also experiencing issues where my phone is restarting on its own. I have isolated that occasions now where the phone is plugged in and charging.

You did not explain to us if there is something special with these files and if they can be viewed in the app or in your gallery like your other pictures?

Be aware that what you see in the app just are the pictures on phone - not their copies at Google unless the original on phone were deleted. You should view photos.google.com in the Chrome-browser to see what you really have stored at Google.

Pictures downloaded form internet can have random dates, so it may be not easy to find them in the mainstream, but fresh pictures from your own phone-camera should have actual dates.

But recently uploaded pictures (within the last two weeks merely) can be seen at https://photos.google.com/search/_tra_

You may try to reset the app in the following way:

Choose use without account under your profile.
Close all apps and restart the phone.
If you have good wifi for an hour, do start the Photos app only and log-in, but don't switch-on backupping yet.
Let the app rebuild quietly (can take an hour).
Switch-on backupping with the correct settings (account and quality) and see if those problematic pictures get uploaded correctly now.

Since you already set up "Partner" sharing you now just have to activate the saving of these photos to your personal account (see https://support.google.com/photos/answer/7378858):

On your computer, go to photos.google.com.
At the top, click Settings Partner sharing.

Click Save > All photos: Any photo in the partner sharing will be saved.

Note that "archived" photos are not shared.

Since that account is moving away from Google, I am try to do the same thing wirh my personal account, however, always encounter some problem in initiating the invitation no matter which platform I try, Android, iPad OS, or web.

The old sharing has been removed on both ends. Also, I am aware of the restriction with parent and child account. But, that is not the case.

Some details:

On Android, "unexpexted error

On iOS, "the operation can't be completed, com.google.HTTPstatus.403

On web, simply greyed next button after entering the partner email address.

Could you try sharing to a separate gmail account to see if it gets past the greyed next button on the web. You can immediately Remove it so the account cannot see your photos.

Following is text from the official Google Photos Help page about deleting and restoring photos and videos:

Restore photos & videos
If you deleted an item and want it back, check your trash to see if it’s there.
On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Photos app .
At the bottom, tap Library Trash .
Touch and hold the photo or video you want to restore.
At the bottom, tap Restore. The photo or video will be back:
In your phone’s gallery app
In your Google Photos library
In any albums it was in
If the item is not in your trash, it may be permanently deleted.

Important:
If you delete a photo or video that’s backed up in Google Photos, it will stay in your trash for 60 days.
If you delete an item from your Android device without it being backed up, it will stay in your trash for 60 days.
If you see a photo or video in Google Photos that you think you deleted, it might be on a removable memory card. To delete it, use your device’s gallery app.
Empty your trash
If you see a request to "Delete permanently" when you try to move an item to trash, your trash is full. Your trash can hold 1.5GB.

Important: If you empty your trash, you permanently delete any items in your trash.

Don't see the photo or video?
If a deleted photo or video isn't in trash, you can’t restore it. You won't be able to restore a photo if:
You moved it to trash more than 60 days ago.
You moved it to trash, then emptied your trash.
You permanently deleted it from your trash.
You permanently deleted it from your device’s Gallery app, without backing it up first.

From where did Google remove your pictures? Were you posting them online or something? You shouldn't have a problem if your pictures are just in Google Photos. Millions of users have explicit photos and videos. Google understands that with the automatic backup feature there are absolutely going to be tons of sexual images that get uploaded. So, where did that violation notice email come from?
