GIFs are specialised collections of individual photos which are shown in a way to make them look as if the are moving. Google Photos does not have any options to look inside then, you would need a specialised utility.

There are two ways to have the photos in groups.

First, do that yourself.

You can group photos in the different album using some theme.

Tap the plus sign below the text Album in the library view. Then, the app will present you with all the available photos to select from. Choose the desired one & creat the Album.

Second. Auto grouping.

The grouping under "People & Pets" would start once you activate the option "Group similar faces" through the app's settings.

The one under places will happen automatically if the photos contain a geotag.

The grouping "Things" would happen automatically.

Also, please note, a single picture can appear in multiple albums and groups at the same time. That doesn't mean the photo is duplicated.

To allow Google Photos to upload the pics even while it is not in use, you have to allow the app to use the data in the background.

You can reach the settings through these steps.

Tap "Apps & Notifications" in the settings.

Tap "See all apps".

Tap "Google Photos".

Tap "Mobile data and WIFI

Tap the slider in front of "Background data" to move that towards the right edge.

The above setting text is the one visible on Google Android. Depending upon the reconfiguration done by your phone's manufacturer, the actual terminology may vary slightly.

You could try the following steps one at a time to see if it helps:

Clear your cookies and cache
Try Incognito/private window
Disable extensions/add-ons/plug-ins
Try a different browser to see if it is a browser related issue

Also, you could test making a version 2 the same album and try sharing again. This type of error has been reported like this before but then users have found it's just 1 particular album. Have you had any issues with any others?

Perhaps worth trying to get in touch with the Drive team and hopefully one of the guys there might be able to point you in the right direction. Explain the issue with the unknown account etc. Once the account is sorted maybe the links will magically work again :-)

However, I saw only a message saying "You are signed in using xx account". There wasn't any option to choose the account.

That means Google lens will keep on working with the main account even when you switch the account in Google Photos.

The message would serve the purpose only when you try sending some feedback about the Google lens.

I tried to replicate and this is what I found:

Like you I do not have the Google Lens installed, and use it only via Google Photos.
I have several accounts added to the Google Photos app.
- When signed in to my main account it just uses Lens without asking anything
- I now tried to use it (for the first time) with another account. I got a pop-up with (I translate):
  Welcome to Google Lens
  You are signed in as j***@gmail.com (my main account)
  This account can see your activity for Google Lens, Search and Assistant.
- When I tapped on "Continue" it worked as expected. I was not asked which account I wanted to use: I had no choice, just a warning that another account can see my activity.
- The above did not repeat when I used Lens for another photo.

The text "You are signed in as j***@gmail.com" seems to refer to the main account in Android, because in the Photos app I was signed in to another account.

I searched on the web and found:

Here is a method to change the primary Gmail account on your Android device.

Go to Google settings from within your phone's Settings or by opening the Google Settings app.

I think the method you described to replace the current primary Google account on a phone must be different on a Samsung phone from what you describe; however I feel this is irrelevant and we have verged off on quite a tangent here.

I neither want to replace my primary Gmail account, nor do I wish delete any of the other Google accounts.

I simply want to change the account that Google Lens uses. Moreover, taking it one step further, I feel it would make perfect sense if each Google account in Google Photos were to use itself as the Google Lens account.

To put it another way:

while the account "MeGoogle@gmail.com" is using Google Photos, then "MeGoogle@gmail.com" should also be the Google Lens account in use at that time
but while the account "YouGoogle@gmail.com" is using Google Photos, then "YouGoogle@gmail.com" should be the Google Lens account in use at that time

That makes perfect sense to me from a security standpoint, and I think we are all agreed that the way it is at the moment, it's not possible to achieve.

I ran into this same issue, had to go in the Google app and change the account that was selected. When I did that and then went to search the picture I was trying to search, I didn't get the text prompt saying it was tied to one of my other accounts. It was tied to the main account. Android phone btw, that solved it for me. Hope that helps someone else in the future.

Thanks, I already read that but i still don't understand why I'm not able to use the photos app, when I open it it just shows a message saying that photos from drive are no longer synced with photos, i found another case like this on Reddit:

I found the problem and it's hilarious... She had increased the text size on the phone settings so there was an option to close the notification at the bottom but you couldn't see it unless you reduce the text size.
