Answer:

You can only change the time on a computer, or using a web browser on Android, please see below:-

Change date & time stamps

You can change the date and time stamps for photos and videos using a computer. When you change the date and time of your photo, the edited date and time will appear in Google Photos. But if you share it to other apps or download it, it may show the original date and time saved by your camera.
  1. On your computer, or in a browser, go to photos.google.com.
  2. Place your cursor over a photo or video. To select the items you want to update, click Select .
  3. At the top right, click More .
  4. Click Edit date & time. If you selected more than one item, you'll see two options.
    • To specify a date and time for the first item and automatically adjust the dates and times for the other items as relative to that, click Shift dates & times.
    • To set the same date and time for all the items you selected, click Set one date & time.
  5. Follow the instructions to finish.

Question: Face not detect

My face dose not detect ....I m search in search box but not find

Hi, Rajesh Ubale 5205

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

The face recognition feature is still evolving & is likely to err particularly when faces are either near about or blurry.

Nevertheless, you can correct that manually through the following steps.
  • Tap to open the photo which contains incorrectly identified faces & then slide up or tap the three dots.
  • Tap the edit icon at the extreme right edge. (An icon of a pencil circled in the screenshot above). That will show identified faces in square boxes & their thumbnails at the bottom.
  • The ones with a - sign are the identified faces. Tap on that & the face will get transferred to the collection of thumbnails with + sign.
  • Now tap the + sign. Then the app will show you all the identified faces till that time. You can select the right one. Then the photo will get transferred to the right collection.
PS. The edit feature may not be available in some regions. If you happen to be from that, then regretfully nothing can be done.

Hi, Belinda Baker

The Google Photos app doesn't have any separate setting to invoke dark mode.
The app emulates the mode selected for the device. Please select dark mode for you device through the main settings & the photos app will follow that.

Hi. So i recently deleted over 10,000 pictures in order to get my storage back but i still haven't gotten it back. it still says that i have 16 gb out of 15 but it said the same thing before i went and deleted all my photos. i want my pictures to back up. can you fix the storage and backup please?

Answer:

Hello Melanie,

Head over to https://photos.google.com/quotamanagement  This should give a clue on where the storage is being used. Large photos and videos >5MB are listed and can be reviewed.

Storage may be reduced by going to https://photos.google.com/settings and using the Recover storage option.

If you need to subscribe to Google One you can Create a family group then share the storage between members and it can be used in addition to their own 15GB

Review backup settings on Mobile
  1. Open Google Photos .
  2. At the top right, tap your account profile photo or initial  Photos settings .
  3. Tap Back up & sync.
  4. Check your settings:
    • Back up & sync: Make sure "Back up & sync" is turned on.
Review your upload size to the web
  1. On your computer, open photos.google.com/settings.
  2. Select High quality or Original quality for future uploads.
Review backup settings for the Backup and Sync computer app
  1. On your computer, download and install Backup and Sync.
  2. Sign in to the Google Account that you use for Google Photos.
  3. Select to back up only photos or videos, or all files.
  4. Select any folders you want to back up.
  5. Under “Photo & video upload size,” select your upload size

Answer:

but if i do recover storage it will ruin the quality of the pictures that i have. i don't understand why the storage is so high. if you click on my account you'll see that altogether everything on my google account makes up less than 7GB of storage. I don't understand what's going on

Answer:

Sorry Melanie, we don't have access to your account and the Google Photos team do not provide individual user support. All we can do is to try and help you help yourself, we can't 'fix' anything.

I disagree about High Quality ruining the quality of pictures, I use it exclusively and for all sharing and printing I find it perfect. Of course that's just my opinion, it's your choice.

To get an idea of where the space is being used you need to look at

If you have large photos or videos (>5MB) you can click or tap on the thumbnail and look at the (i)nfo
to see where the photo originated etc. There are also Unsupported videos (google.com) which may be a problem.

You also need to look at the distribution over Photos, Drive, and Gmail to make sure that photos are indeed the problem.

See screenshot online

Answer:

if you can see in the photo it says i exceeded the 15 GB but my photos don't take up that much and neither do any other apps because I delete almost everything.

Answer:

But you deleted from the phone not from photos.Google.com ??

It looks like a choice of subscribing to Google One

Or Recover storage at https://photos.google.com/settings

Or start deleting again in the Google Photos app by tapping Large photos photos and videos or Other apps then select and Move to trash. No need to empty the trash.

Answer:

Sorry, nothing more I can add.  You have the information in front of you and you need to investigate which photos and videos are using the storage.

Or long press the first photo and stroke down after the selection tick appears.

Best to install Google Gallery Go or Google Files, because after selecting one you can select All under the famous 3 dots.

Hi, Vishal _Bhashkar

Putting photos in the bin is a disastrous way to hide that.
Whatever we transfer to the bin gets deleted automatically after sixty days.
There is nothing you can do now to get back these pics.

Instead of putting them in the bin, you should have archived those and that would have prevented the appearance of the pics in the gallery view.

Answer:

Hi,  Vishal _Bhashkar

Thanks for your reply

First, there is no way to recover through Google Photos. Once a customer allows photos to get deleted through the bin, Google doesn't retain any backups.

Secondly, it's too late now. Otherwise, you could have recovered something through the memory of your phone using some deleted file recovery app. Now after sixty days, the OS must have overwritten on the space.

Google Photos never uploads the same picture multiple times.
What we see as duplicates have some difference in file format or metadata.

Regrettably, Google Photos doesn't provide any means to remove the apparent duplicates. You have to search those manually.

However, you will find some tips in this article on how to avoid duplicates in the first place & how to remove the ones which are already there.

So if someone can help me to answer this will be helpful.

Answer:

Hi, Asma Ali 750

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

However, before you delete something on your phone, please ensure everything is backed up.

Regretfully, the photos do not show anything upfront to reveal whether that's backed up or not.
Nevertheless, when we tap to open a photo & then slide that up, the appearance of the menu option "Delete from device" confirms that the picture is backed up.

In addition to that, the following due diligence will ensure everything from your phone is backed up.
  • Go to the library view & tap view all on the "Photos on device" tab. There, no folder should have a cloud symbol with a slash on that. If you find so, please tap the folder & switch on backup & sync.
  • Check the status of Backup & sync in settings. That should say "Backup complete".
Moreover, some social media apps tend to hide the download folders from visibility through Google Photos.
Nevertheless, you can manage that through the settings in the respective social media app.

After that, you should visit the web link https://photos.google.com and ensure everything is visible.

Once you are assured about completion of backup, then long press the first unwanted photo till a tick appears.
Once done, go on selecting further unwanted pics.
Once over, tap the three dots & tap on delete from device.
That will ensure, the pictures are removed only from the device & the backed up data on the cloud remains intact.

And always remember, never delete something on your phone in a straightforward manner once the sync is on. You must follow the steps as above to ensure continued availability of your pics on the cloud.
Nevertheless, all these hassles get eliminated if you go for the Free up space option. However, once done, nothing will remain in the gallery of your phone & you need to access everything through the cloud only.

Convert a . Heiff image file to a pdf so when I add to an email it can be opened and viewed

@melissa
Be aware that it is abnormal to have heif-files and that it also is abnormal to send pictures as pdf-files.
So this question goes outside the features of the Google Photos app.
But you can type "convert heic to pdf" in the Playstore to find an app which can do this - hopefully without a lot of additonal problems.
Good luck

PS: if your own camera produces heif-files, you should switch-off that feature because it causes low quality images and causes a lot of additonal troubles.

Question: I had back up my photos and mistakely delete it permently can i recover them

I have backed up my photos and i mistakely deleted it permently so how can i recover them

Hello

Please review the following information in case there are any options you haven't yet tried.

1. Check your online account - photos.google.com
If your photos were successfully uploaded to your online Google Photos account they may be available there. Try visiting photos.google.com and searching for them. If you have more than on
2. Check the trash - photos.google.com/trash
Once you delete photos from your Google Photos account, they're moved to Trash for the next 60 days. If you deleted them by mistake you can always restore them from the Trash folder within those 60 days. Here's the link explaining how to recover them from Trash. If you have more than one Google account, check the trash for all of them.

If you accessed the Trash and manually sent the photos for permanent deletion, or if the 60 days expired, there is no way to recover them from Google Photos

3. Review other options
  • if you previously used Picasa, visit picasaweb.google.com and search for your photos.
  • have you made any backups of the photos on your phone, camera, computer, or elsewhere?
  • there is a small chance that you can restore the photos using a recover deleted photos app (Android). I haven't used them myself so have no specific recommendations. There may well be more app options if you visit the appropriate app store and try other search terms. I don't see any similar apps on the iOS store, but you could check yourself.
  • you can contact the Google Drive support team to see if any deleted files may be recovered. Use the Google Drive contact form, click Missing or deleted files, select a contact option, and be sure to tell them you permanently deleted files in Google Drive.
  • If you ever shared the photos with anyone else, it's possible they may have a copy they could share back or send to you.
 Thanks.

 Thanks.

Question: Pramently my dileted poto recover

Yes

Hello There,

If you deleted an item and want it back, check your trash to see if it’s there.
  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Photos app .
  2. And check the Trash .
  3. Click Restore
If the item is not in your trash, it may be permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.
You may also try to get a local professional to recover the photos from your phone storage,
but sorry to say Google cannot do anything about it.

Have a look at this link to learn more.

Question: Find old Screenshot in September 2020

Find old screenshot September 2020

Hi, Afrin Patel

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

Had you backed up the pics to Google Photos?
Are you not finding the deleted pictures there?

If so, did you delete the pics through Google Photos? or using some Gallery app on your phone?
If you have deleted through Google Photos, then you may still find those in the bin.
The Bin icon becomes visible through the library view.
