Follow those, but while doing so please ensure that you are not losing some critical data.

I am wondering, why did go for deleting permanently bypassing the sixty days grace period to review your action?

Nevertheless, when you tap the delete icon in the Google Photos app, a warning appears telling you what will happen if you proceed. On your phone, that message asks, "Remove from Google account & synced devices?"

When you attempt to manually empty the trash/bin in Google Photos, another warning appears that explains the consequences of permanently deleting those pictures and videos.
If you choose to proceed anyway, there is nothing that any of the volunteers in this forum can do to help you recover your pictures.

Eternal complaint, but what you call duplicates can't be duplicates, but look-a-likes which can have several different causes due to user mistakes and then that user has to decide which one should be kept.

The face recognition feature is still evolving & is likely to err particularly when faces are either near about or blurry.

Nevertheless, you can correct that manually through the following steps.

Tap to open the photo which contains incorrectly identified faces & then slide up or tap the three dots.
Tap the edit icon at the extreme right edge. (An icon of a pencil circled in the screenshot above). That will show identified faces in square boxes & their thumbnails at the bottom.
The ones with a - sign are the identified faces. Tap on that & the face will get transferred to the collection of thumbnails with + sign.
Now tap the + sign. Then the app will show you all the identified faces till that time. You can select the right one. Then the photo will get transferred to the right collection.

PS. The edit feature may not be available in some regions. If you happen to be from that, then regretfully nothing can be done.

When you select (or open) photos in an album, there are two options under the 3-dots:

"Remove from album
When you select this the photos do remain in the Photos section and other albums
"Move to bin
When you select this the photo is deleted from the Photos section and all albums

It's more likely that the photo is hard to find in the Photos section, or were they "archived"?

You can try to find them by any available means like date, People, Things, Places etc

The trash or bin has a limiting capacity of 1.5 GB

If you delete something beyond that, then the app shows a warning saying something like can't store in trash & the items will be deleted permanently.

No. You can't delete something just because that's visible in Google Photos.

The Google Photos app acts like a portal viewer showing the content from your phone also. But that doesn't mean the content is already uploaded to the cloud.

To verify, tap to open the media, slide that up & see whether that shows an option "Delete from device". That means the content is already there on the cloud & then it's safe to tap that option "Delete from device".
