Ahmad, if the photos are not available, it means you didn't back them up in the first place on your old device

Head over to https://one.google.com/storage/management and check if the storage is in any of the trash places, or large files in Gmail, Drive & Photos, or just below in Unsupported videos. This should give a clue on where the storage is being used.

Up until the 31st May you can Recover storage at https://photos.google.com/settings to reduce the storage used by Google Photos to zero.

From June 1st new HQ uploads will use storage at a reduced size, HQ upload before June 1st remain free

The storage is all videos I uploaded to Photos, but the issue is that storage is not supposed to be affected until June 1st. On my other account, nothing in Photos goes against my 15GB, so why is it doing so in this account?

Free storage only applies to High Quality uploads. Original size always counts, and always has done.

You can recover storage at the Settings page unless the videos are Unsupported which means Google have not been able to convert them to HQ and they will be stored in their original state and count against storage.

I need to delete a ton of screenshots from my phone. I can search for screenshots (or for the specific type I want to remove, any search), but then after selecting a photo (let alone more than one at a time), it only gives me the option to archive it in Google photos, instead of deleting it from my device. I can only do that by opening each photo individually, and I need to remove about a thousand!

I can still remove several photos at one time, but ONLY if I am in the home page. To do that I have to scroll through thousands of photos over the last couple of years, & hope I catch all the ones I want removed while doing so. Can we not do so after narrowing them down at all?

Thank you, but the problem is that there is no option to "delete from device" when on the search page. I cannot limit the photos to screenshots or in another way & then proceed to "delete from device." I am only seeing that option on the home page as mentioned, where I would have to scroll through thousands of photos selecting out the individual ones I want to delete, instead of being able to narrow down the photos first using a search or album. Everything has been fully backed up prior to trying any of this.

When we access the collection through some search function, the option "Delete from device" doesn't become available for multiple selections.
There is no other way to do a batch removal of selected photos.

Nevertheless, you can suggest that feature through the help & feedback route.
Once a sufficient number of users request the same feature, that may become available later on.

If you install the simple Google Gallery Go app, you will see the Screenshot-folder separately, and when you select the first picture you can select All via the the 3 dots and then trash them (and then empty its trash also - else you won't gain local space).

In this way you also may empty other device folders, but if they are connected to some app, you may run into troubles in that app.

Photos will not be deleted

Free unlimited applies to High Quality uploads until June 2021 for everyone, no need to pay.

Storage can be reduced to 0bytes anytime up to 31st May by going to Settings - Google Photos - Tap here

and using the Recover storage option.

Photos uploaded in High Quality after June 1st count against the free 15GB allowance at reduced MB

If your originals were uploaded with the high quality setting, you never can get back their original quality anymore. But it depends what you mean with high resolution, because high quality at Google goes to 16 MP and that is quite high. And with movies they go to 1080px,

First, you have to insure every picture and video in your old phone is backed up in Google Photos.

To bring back the pics to your new phone's gallery, either, you can download photos one by one. Regrettably, there is no option to do so on a batch of photos.

Or, you can arrange for a bulk download by visiting the link https://takeout.google.com/;

Select the Google Photos app for data download.

Once the file is ready, you will get an email. Access that & unzip all the attachments into your phone's gallery.

That will bring everything to your phone.

You can't get rid of the endless stream - so the only way is assign selected ones to thematic albums.

That's not a matter of being technical advanced, but just a lot of work if not done from start.

See albums

These albums take no additional storage in your account because they don't contain copy files, but just links to the mainstream. The pictures not used for any album, can be deleted or hided by archiving.

Part of these albums maybe suitable for sharing with family or friends.

Such albums also can be viewed on other deviced because they are at Google and not on your phone.

If you move-up a picture and you see Remove from device, you know that you have backupped that picture. If you don't see that, the picture is not backupped yet - but perhaps you do want them on device only for some very special reason :-)

I looked again and there's actually a small, white cloud icon with a checkmark in it on the bottom right of every photo that is backed up, so while it's not as easy as it is on Android, I can add photos without that icon to appropriate albums, then back them up and finally delete them from my the default camera roll app instead.

I don't believe that there is a setting.. (though I installed Photoscan almost 3 years ago and might have forgotten.. but I really looked around). There is a file type setting in Snapseed, but I tested changing it, and it does not seem to be 'leaking' across apps. If anybody else knows where a file type setting is for Photoscan, please chime in!

Could you do a test scan, then check the file suffix in "Info" of the Google Photos app on your phone prior to making any edit changes to it (and let me know)?

I assume (based on the Tag) that you are using Photoscan on an iOS device. Do Google Photos, and iOS seem to be up-to-date?

1. Items deleted from your photos.google.com are stored in trash for 60 days and then are Auto-Deleted from trash and can not be recovered.

2. Items deleted manually from photos.google.com/trash can not be recovered.

3. Items deleted from your YouTube Channel can not be recovered.

4. Items deleted from your Gmail are stored in trash for 30 days and then are Auto-Deleted from trash and can not be recovered.

5. Items manually deleted from Gmail trash can not be recovered.

6. Items deleted from your Google Drive will be stored in Drive Trash for 30 days and then be Auto-Deleted from Trash and can not be recovered.
