Question: Why my Google backup storage space is counting before June 1,2022
Storage issue
Hi,
Uploading High quality Photo/video are completely free till June 1st.
Can Go to google photos setting and select back up and sync and check whether you selected High Quality or "Original Quality".
If you have selected original quality, it will count against your 15 Gb quota. because uploading Original quality hasn't been free.

In now a days, We are upgrading ourselves in technology, so there is any possible to recover the permanently deleted photos and videos from google photos.
Answer:
Hello Sivaraj,
Please review the following information in case there are any options you haven't yet tried.
1. Check your online account - photos.google.com
If your photos were successfully uploaded to your online Google Photos account they may be available there. Try visiting photos.google.com and searching for them. If you have more than on
2. Check the trash - photos.google.com/trash
Once you delete photos from your Google Photos account, they're moved to Trash for the next 60 days. If you deleted them by mistake you can always restore them from the Trash folder within those 60 days. Here's the link explaining how to recover them from Trash. If you have more than one Google account, check the trash for all of them.
If you accessed the Trash and manually sent the photos for permanent deletion, or if the 60 days expired, there is no way to recover them from Google Photos.
3. Review other options
- if you previously used Picasa, visit picasaweb.google.com and search for your photos.
- have you made any backups of the photos on your phone, camera, computer, or elsewhere?
- there is a small chance that you can restore the photos using a recover deleted photos app (Android). I haven't used them myself so have no specific recommendations. There may well be more app options if you visit the appropriate app store and try other search terms. I don't see any similar apps on the iOS store, but you could check yourself.
- you can contact the Google Drive support team to see if any deleted files may be recovered. Use the Google Drive contact form, click Missing or deleted files, select a contact option, and be sure to tell them you permanently deleted files in Google Drive.
- If you ever shared the photos with anyone else, it's possible they may have a copy they could share back or send to you.
Thanks.

Question: Recover deleted photos
Searching trash
Hi Jud,
if the deleted photos are still in the Google Photos Trash you might be able to restore them as explained in these instructions https://support.google.com/photos/answer/6128867?co=GENIE.Platform%3DAndroid&oco=1
Otherwise it’s not possible to recover photos permanently deleted from the Trash. However, you may install to your Android device a deleted photo recovery app https://play.google.com/store/search?q=recover%20deleted%20photos&c=apps and run a scan for anything to recover.
In addition I recommend that you contact the Google Drive support team to see if any deleted files may be recovered. Just open the Google Drive https://support.google.com/drive/?hl=en&authuser=0#topic=14940&contact=1 contact form, click Missing or deleted files, select a contact option, and be sure to tell them you permanently deleted files in Google Drive.

Question: I want to recover my photos that deleted accidentally
Hello sir I want to recover my photos that I have deleted accidentally.
Hello Sir ,
If you have uploaded photos on google photos and deleted it please take a look at the below info.
Following is text from the official Google Photos Help page about deleting and restoring photos and videos:
Restore photos & videosIf you deleted an item and want it back, check your trash to see if it's there.
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Photos app
.
- At the bottom, tap Library
Trash
.
- Touch and hold the photo or video you want to restore.
- At the bottom, tap Restore. The photo or video will be back:
- In your phone's gallery app
- In your Google Photos library
- In any albums it was in
If the item is not in your trash, it may be permanently deleted.
Important:
- If you delete a photo or video that's backed up in Google Photos, it will stay in your trash for 60 days.
- If you delete an item from your Android device without it being backed up, it will stay in your trash for 60 days.
- If you see a photo or video in Google Photos that you think you deleted, it might be on a removable memory card. To delete it, use your device's gallery app.
Empty your trashIf you see a request to "Delete permanently" when you try to move an item to trash, your trash is full. Your trash can hold 1.5GB.Important: If you empty your trash, you permanently delete any items in your trash.Don't see the photo or video? If a deleted photo or video isn't in trash, you can't restore it. You won't be able to restore a photo if:
- You moved it to trash more than 60 days ago.
- You moved it to trash, then emptied your trash.
- You permanently deleted it from your trash.
- You permanently deleted it from your device's Gallery app, without backing it up first.
When you attempt to manually empty the trash bin in Google Photos, a warning message box appears that explains you are about to permanently delete those pictures and videos. If you choose to proceed anyway, there is nothing that any of the volunteers in this forum can do to help you recover your pictures.
The information on the following Google Photos Help pages will help you become more familiar with finding, deleting, and restoring your pictures:
If you deleted pictures or videos that were not previously backed up to your account through the Google Photos app, then unfortunately there's nothing that Google or any of the volunteers in this Help Community can do to recover them.
Files that existed only on your phone, ones that were never uploaded to the cloud, cannot be recovered or restored by a cloud storage service. Simply put, Google can't help you recover files it never had in the first place.
Thanks.

Question: My photos have gone from my gallery because of backing them up on photos, how do I get them back?
I have tried getting them back.
Hi, Abo Haajar
Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.
The backup action doesn't remove anything from the phone's memory.
Did you tap on "Free up space" inadvertently?
Next, to bring back the pics to your phone's gallery, either, you can download photos one by one. Regrettably, there is no option to do so on a batch of photos.
Alternatively, you can install the Google One app there is a one time option to restore up to two hundred most recent photos to the device.
However, the local folder structure can not be restored.
To do so, there is no requirement to join Google One, the option is available to everyone.
However, the method may not be effective to recover something when the count is more than two hundred.
Or, you can arrange for a bulk download by visiting the link https://takeout.google.com/;
Select the Google Photos app for data download.
Once the file is ready, you will get an email. Access that & unzip all the attachments into your phone's gallery.
That will bring everything to your phone.
Still, for more information, I suggest you visit this link https://sites.google.com/site/picasaresources/google-photos-1/how-to-transfer-google-photos-back-to-your-camera

I've checked photos both on my android phone and my computer. I only have the one account, so that can't be the issue. I've checked online. I've been keeping an eye on the cloud the whole time I've used the back up. Regularly conected to Wi-Fi. Missing specific videos from March/April 2016. Got other videos there on the online back up, photos from the same days. Might be missing other photos that I'm not really missing.
Answer:
Hello Malin,
Thanks for posting in the Google Photos Help Forum.
I understand how important the photos are for you and I'll try my best to help. It can be possible that the photos weren't uploaded successfully to Google Photos (cloud) and also make sure you're logged in to Google Photos with the same Google Account that you used during the backup. Photos/videos that are not synced or backed up, will still appear in Google Photos and will have this icon
(which means not synced/backed up) or some photos/videos will also show up with the two arrows in a circle mean backup is in progress.
Once the upload is complete there will be no icon on any photos/videos. Often, many of us misinterpret that they are all backed up because the photos/videos show up in Google Photos and we over see the icons on each photo/video. If the photos/videos weren't backed up they cannot be deleted from the Google Photos library nor Trash.
In case, you are uploading a large amount of data (photos/videos), please know that it might take 24-48 hours for the photos and videos to sync across all devices. Please ensure to have 'Backup & sync' enabled on the Google Photos settings while you're backing up your photos and videos. To check is the content is backed up, login in to photos.google.com to checked for your backed up photos and videos.
However, if you're sure they were backed up, I recommend you looking for your video here:
- photos.google.com.
- photos.google.com/trash.
- picasaweb.google.com.
- drive.google.com (under Google Photos).
If a photo/s is deleted from Google Photos, it would go to Trash/Bin for the next 60 days (after deletion). Unfortunately, if the photos aren't found in Trash or deleted from Trash, I'm afraid, you might not find them else where to recover them because Trash is the last resort to retrieve your lost/deleted photos.
Meanwhile, also try giving the below steps a try once again in a sequence to help resolve the issue:
- Close the Google Photos app and re-launch it.
- Sign out and sign back in to Google Photos with the same Google Account.
- Clear App data:
- Open your device's Settings app (not the Google Settings app).
- Touch Apps.
- Select Google Photos in the list.
- Touch Clear data.
- Update the Google Photos app on your Android phone:
- Visit the Google Play Store.
- Open Google Photos.
- Touch on Update.
Let me know how it goes.
Best,

Hi Mudasie,
Once you delete photos from the trash they are permanently deleted; they are only recoverable in 60 days if they are still in the trash.
You can try a few options that might help recover some but there is no guarantee
- Contact the Google Drive team and say you want to recover files - click on the contact us option on this link.
- You can try using a third party photo recovery app at this point to try to recover some of what was lost from your phone - just type photo recovery into the play store and see what options are available. I can't recommend any as haven't used one personally but some people do have success that way.

Hello Sandhya Rani 3781,
Head over to
https://one.google.com/storage/management and check if the storage is in any of the trash places, or large files in Gmail, Drive & Photos, or just below in Unsupported videos.
This should give a clue on where the storage is being used.
Up until the 31st May you can Recover storage at https://photos.google.com/settings to reduce the storage used by Google Photos to zero.
From June 1st new HQ uploads will use storage at a reduced size, HQ upload before June 1st remain free
Review backup settings on Mobile
- Open Google Photos
.
- At the top right, tap your account profile photo or initial
Photos settings
.
- Tap Back up & sync.
- Check your settings:
- Back up & sync: Make sure "Back up & sync" is turned on.
Review your upload size to the web
- On your computer, open photos.google.com/settings.
- Select High quality or Original quality for future uploads.
Review backup settings for the Backup and Sync computer app
- On your computer, download and install Backup and Sync.
- Sign in to the Google Account that you use for Google Photos.
- Select to back up only photos or videos, or all files.

Hi im trying to organize photos
Hi, Daniel D.M.D.
Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.
The option of secure folder is yet to rollout.
I suggest you go through this article to know the full details.
Answer:
Addition
But for Pixel-users only and it is not clear if you have a Pixel 3 or more recent version.
In general stuff what you should be hided from the mainstream (like technical screenshots etc.), should be archived.
The Google Files app does have a secure folder for everyone.
But if you move sensitive pictures into that folder, I don't know what happens if you delete them in the Photos-app thereafter and I am not going to test that (we are private volonteers here - no Google around here).
Answer:
When photos are moved to the locked folder for Pixel users they are automatically deleted from Google Photos.
They now exist on the device only.
Clearing the Google Photos app data will delete the contents of the locked folder.

Question: How do I rename a photo file? To have file description instead of imgxxxx?
I select the photo in the File app but get no option to rename it.
Google Photos has no tool to rename photos.
You can rename photos using other apps, for example "File Manager +". But ... you will have to do that before the photos are backed up to Google Photos, because changing the file name does not sync.
Thus Backup & sync must be turned OFF, and turned ON temporarily when you want to upload, or leave it turned OFF and upload manually. Not very handy.
As an alternative you can add a description to a photo.

At home with high speed wifi, it took 1 hour and 15 minutes to backup and upload one 1.25gb video (a 10 minute video ) to my pc and to my tablet from my android phone photo gallery. I will be on vacation backing up and uploading photos and videos nightly on slow hotel wifi for two weeks. What do I do to be sure I can get them all when I return to USA with higher speed internet for wifi if I cannot back up all videos and photos nightly?
Answer:
At home before departure I would suggest to apply the free-up space option under the 3 small lines to make space in memory and thereafter switch-off backupping.

Thank you for your reply. I am concerned that if I switch off backing up for google photos that if I lose my phone I would lose all my photos on my phone ( I have an android phone) since they would not be backed up.

That is possible, but then you should not shoot any videos because these are the bottlenecks when having bad wifi and they may stick any further backupping and then you have no additional safety either.

After coming back home, switch-on the backupping again and give it hours to complete.
But if you still are handy with editing on computer, I would connect the phone to computer and do the usual processing (also by shortening the videos to the best part) and thereafter you can upload straight into https://photos.google.com Then you will have a much better series then you would have had with immediate backupping.
Have a good journey.
PS: hopefully you have enough free GB's but I would restrict shooting videos because they often are disappointing. You may decide to insert a micro-sd of 256 GB and store the camera-images on that card instead of internal memory. But you should not do that if you departure is tomorrow, because you may need time to get the settings arranged correctly and then do some testing.

**Also, you said to shorten videos to the best part, what app do you suggest to shorten/edit video from my PC?
Last, I still have the same concern that putting my photos/videos on the SD card will not help if my phone is lost or stolen with the photos/videos on it.
I see that my photos get backed up and uploaded to my phones Google Photos very quickly.
**Is that normal that phone camera photos/videos get backed up quicker to Google Photos on the same phone that the photos/videos were taken than to a PC or tablet?
It can take hours to upload to a tablet or PC, especially with slow hotel Wifi.
** During my 2 week vacation, what happens if nightly only some of my photos/videos are uploaded to my tablet and others are not are not? If each night is only partially uploaded to my tablet, will the remainder of photos/videos upload to fill in the missing photos/videos for each day when I return? Or is it best not to bother uploading nightly?
**If my phone was lost but all my photos/videos were uploaded to Google via my phone when I return to US how would I upload all my vacation photos/videos without having my phone to turn on wifi to upload to my PC??
Answer:
As an observation, when you Backup from Android you backup to https://photos.google.com/ which is then visible using a Laptop or PC
I can't give any answers on time of uploads, but my method on vacation is to prioritise photos with the following actions.
- Disable Backup & sync on departure
- Take photos and videos
- On return to the hotel
- Move all videos to another device folder with Backup disabled
- Enable Backup for the camera folder so the photos are uploaded
I don't use videos often so have been able to manage these by uploading manually when an opportunity arises. I have also copied videos to a tablet using a USB lead There are also OTG drives available which can be used as a further backup
Answer:
Thank you so much for your reply.
-Why do you recommend to disable backup and sync on departure for my vacation? Shouldn't I want to be sure to keep it on at all times?
-I will take your advice to both put videos into a separate folder on Google and limit the amount of videos. They seem to take the most time to upload.
-Since I am seeing my cameras photos backup and upload much faster on my phones Google Photos app ,than uploading to my tablet while traveling, I assume they are all stored in the cloud and I can upload when I get home from my vacation.
-This may sound ignorant, I aplogize, if my phone is lost, when I return home, how would I get those photos/videos uploaded from my missing phone to my PC or tablet since I have my phone set up to backup/upload with Wifi? I will be traveling internationally and on a 24 hour Verizon wifi only plan. I am assuming your solution to back up with USB cable to tablet while traveling.

The problem I had with leaving it on is that the videos started to backup as soon as they saw WiFi and combinations of flaky WiFi and trying to move them caused partial uploads which screwed up the Google Photos online copy or sometimes the app froze. I prefer to move the videos, then backup the photos under my control. I sometimes then enabled backup for the videos and left the phone pluged in overnight using the hotel WiFi

The Google Photos app on your phone acts as a portal to see the photos on the phone alongside photos already online. They are not backed up until you can see them on your tablet. In the same way that the phone's app only see photos, the tablet only sees photos at https://photos.google.com/ they do not actually get uploaded to your tablet or PC.

Once you see Backup complete your photos are safe at https://photos.google.com/ and you will see them on your PC when you get home. Any photo or video not reported as backed up will be lost.
I will be traveling internationally and on a 24 hour Verizon wifi only plan. I am assuming your solution to back up with USB cable to tablet while traveling.
The option to use a USB to copy the photos to a laptop is a way of making a physical copy which would need to be backed up manually to Google Photos at https://photos.google.com/ if the phone was lost.
Answer:
That is possible, but then you should not shoot any videos because these are the bottlenecks when having bad wifi and they may stick any further backupping and then you have no additional safety either.
Because I am acquinted with processing my photos and incidental videos on my computer before uploading to Google Photos, I simply connect my phone (or tablet) via its usb-cable to my computer for copying the contents of the camera-folder (DCIM) to my computer. And the Photos-app in Windows is quite capable for simple edits and cutting-off bad starts and ends of videos.
Thereafter the uploading can go straight into https://photos.google.com and that is not slower then on my phone. And then I also has the great advantage that I can add to an album immediately.
Assuming home wifi of course.
And if they are stored on computer, I don't need to upload immediately if I don't have good wifi for some days. So if possible and if you stay in the same hotel all the time, you can take a laptop with you.
When uploaded, they are visible in the Photos-app on my tablet and in the browser on my computer.
See this link
Don't know what to say more because I have no simple information available what to do when a phone is lost or stolen. Basically the device should be disconnected from your account in your general account settings, because then nobody can ruïne what already is stored at Google.
