Hi, i have a question regarding uploading in google photos. My photos uploads automatically.

I use a fujifilm xa3 and whenever i sync it with my phone and Google photos it automatically syncs it, and it becomes 1 compiled album/photo. How do i disable it from doing that.  I can't see my photos as i want to see it cause everything is piled in one.

Hoping that you can help me with this.

Thank you.

I just want to say that the system for auto picking the photos is not working for me because there is not a sufficient reminder sent by Google Photos about choosing the photos. So I am regularly receiving photos that I don't want. I would much rather prefer to select the photos initially than have them auto selected. Thanks

Question: Auto back up not working and manual back up very slow

Hi, completely unknown to me,  google photos hadn't been auto backing up when i would come home at night and would be on wifi network.
I had some extremely important photos taken last week, which have suddenly gone missing from my phone. With no reason.
I have searched the bin, other folders, archives, in the event that I 'accidentally ' pressee a button. I have manually searched the phone for the file name, and even downloaded recovery software to help look.
The are nowhere.

So i then think to go into google photos and restore them from there, if not at the original quality, at least at the very high quality.

To my shear disappointment and surprise,  i see that 250 photos had not been backed up...including the missing ones.
Absolutely disappointing and very frustrating.

Is there anything that can be done?

And then I try to manually back the remaining ones, and despite the usual wifi connection that I have, ive managed to back up 100 high quality photos in 8 hours. Exceptionally slow. Ive tone into the google photos cache and emptied it, and restarted my phone twice. And tried uploading using mobile data instead of wifi.
Nothing has worked, and it's now stuck on the same photo for 1 hour.

Can someone please suggest why this has happened (not been autobacking) ..if there's any way to get gack my very strangely missing photos, and what i can do now to speed up the backing up.

Many thanks

Answer:

Hi Anelia,
I think you can first check whether there is enough capacity in your Google Drive account. You need to know that if the storage is insufficient, the backup process will proceed very, very slowly. Secondly, the accumulated cache in the Google Photos app, the battery-saving mode of the phone, and the slow internet speed are all the reasons for the Google Photos backup stuck
You can check these items and clear the app data and cache, charge the phone, and try to restart the device.

So my phone is broken and wont turn on. I have all my photos saved on to the Google Photos app, of which have all been backed up but now I cannot access them.

I just tried to access them via the web browser version thinking that they'd be there but none of my photos are there. I've tried reading other posts in the community and tried calling the helpline (but they don't have a helpline for Google Photos) and struggling to find a solution.

I've checked other Google accounts as advised but nothing!

I attempted to find them via Google Drive after reading another persons post, explaining to 'automatically put Google Photos in my Drive' but when I check the box it unchecks itself 2 seconds later (bizarre?).

Really struggling here, any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks

I have backed up all my photos and videos from my iPhone into google photos app. I then realised there is a 15gb limit so no longer want anything on google photos. I deleted everything from google photos on the desktop site which I was advised from a forum would not delete from my iPhone device which it seemingly hasn't and there's nothing if I sign into google photos desktop .. however the app still shows the bulk of my photos although there is a big percentage missing. Massively confused and just want the google photos app Empty now as won't be using it moving forward. (And want to avoid deleting from my iPhone and iCloud at all costs

Answer:

Your free limit on iCloud is 5 GB, so what?
But you simply can remove the Google-app from your iPhone and then you are free to delete on the site (photos.google.com) without any losses on your iPhone & iCloud.

Now- with that out of the way let's deal with Anuraag Ghimeeray's post in  Google Photos.
Please note that, due to a variety of reasons, not all files can be recovered - but you can try!

1. Items deleted from your photos.google.com are stored in trash for 60 days and then are Auto-Deleted from trash and can not be recovered.

2. Items deleted manually from photos.google.com/trash can not be recovered.

3. Items deleted from your YouTube Channel can not be recovered.

4. Items deleted from your Gmail are stored in trash for 30 days and then are Auto-Deleted from trash and can not be recovered.

5. Items manually deleted from Gmail trash can not be recovered.

6. Items deleted from your Google Drive  will be stored in Drive Trash for 30 days and then be Auto-Deleted from Trash and can not be recovered.

1).If you are using a regular personal account
You will have to contact a Google Drive Specialist who *MAY* be able to restore it. Use this link:

2). If you use a work/student account (G Suite), you should contact your Account Admin as they can restore files up to 25 days after deletion.

Hello, Likhita Guduri

Welcome to the Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

Sometimes, mobile data usage reaches an upper limit in the phone's setting. Please try enhancing that limit.

Further please refresh the app by clearing the cached & stored data through the settings on the phone. If that doesn't work, please reinstall the app.

I want to recover permently deleted photos

Hello, Karthick raja

Welcome to the Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

Noted, you have deleted pictures permanently.
However, regret, nothing can be done to restore the photos through Google Photos.

Nevertheless, you may install to your Android device a deleted photo recovery app (be sure to pick one that doesn't require rooting) https://play.google.com/store/search?q=recover%20deleted%20photos&c=apps and run a scan for anything to recover on the phone.

However, if your delete action was in the distant past, the phone may have overwritten in the space & the chances of recovery would become slim.

When a photo is backed up. How do I find it in the future.

Hello, nick roros

Welcome to the Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

When we tap & open a photo & tap the three dots, the information at the bottom will indicate either of the three things
  • Remove device copy
  • Download to device
  • Backup now
The first two indications mean the pic is already there in Google Photos.
Whereas the third indicator is for any non backed up photo.

Through these three messages, you can identify the backup status in future.

Question: My storage says is 98% full I can't recive mails, I deleted alot of my older fotos and is the same

Deleted alot of fotos to empty space, still it says 98% full, can't recive mais

Hello, Ramona Tirziu

Welcome to the Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

Noted, you are deleting several photos to create space on Google Drive.
However, your action of deleting photos to create space may be excessive.

Google photos should occupy zero space for the activities up to 31st May if you have chosen to save the pics in High-Quality format.

Further, the Sync operation replicates the action we take from one end to the other end also.
If we delete something from the cloud backup, that deletes the corresponding one on the phone & vice versa.
In this way, you may be losing the photos on your phone also.

Nevertheless, the available space is shared between
  • Gmail
  • Files on Google Drive
  • Pictures in original quality & videos in an incompatible format in Google Photos collection.
To check what is occupying the space, you need to visit this link.
https://one.google.com/storage/managent

There, you will also find some tips on how to retrieve some of the storage space.
Follow those, but while doing so please ensure that you are not losing some critical data.
However, this link will show only the quantum of original-Quality photos & offer an option to delete those.

If you wish to convert these to quality, please visit https://photos.google.com/settings/

That page will offer two options a) Purchase additional storage or b) Recover storage.
The second option will offer to convert all original quality content to high-quality
Tap/click on that & then all the pictures in original quality will be converted to high-quality.

These actions will resolve your current problem of storage space becoming 98% full.

I've already tried to do a backup and sync

Hello, Jeffrey Holmes

Welcome to the Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

Backing up the photos & contacts happens through two different routes.
The moment you activate "Backup & sync" in Google Photos, then further actions happens automatically through the app.

In the same way, once you add your Google account to your android phone & select save to the specific Google Account ID, all contacts are saved automatically in that account.

You don't have to do anything further to sync any changes.

Question: How to take screen shot

Hello, Aime plays

Welcome to the Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

You will have to refer to the documentation provided by your phone's manufacturer, to know the exact method of capturing a screenshot.
Further, that may change after an upgrade to the OS.

Nevertheless, these are the three predominant methods to capture the screen.
  • Pressing the power button & volume down key simultaneously.
  • A long press to the power button reveals the screenshot option.
  • The notification panel may have an icon for screen capture.
You may try all three.

Answer:

Hello, Sneaky Shark

Welcome to the Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

However, sorry to note you lost pictures from both the Google Photos & the Phones Gallery.
In reality, that's the intended function of the "Sync" operation which replicates any action from Google Photos to Phone & vice versa.

Now the photos are not even in the bin, then nothing can be done to recover those through Google Photos.

The Google Photos app correctly identifies the pics originating from a Pixel phone. Once you create a Google account on the Pixel phone, you get the benefits automatically. There is nothing a user can do to alter that.

Answer:

For Pixel 3a-5 Google says:
You can choose to upload your photos and videos either in High quality or in Original quality.
Photos and videos uploaded in High quality from Pixel 3a-5 are free and unlimited.
Photos and videos uploaded in Original quality will count towards your Google Account storage.

Everything uploaded before June 1 in High Quality will be free forever.
But new uploads after June 1 will start counting with reduced MB's compaired to original quality.

Hi Billy,

The transformation from original to High Quality is irreversible and can't be undone. If you still have the originals, the only option is to delete the High Quality versions currently in Google Photos and upload the originals again.

Thanks a lot. This answers it. Which leads me to the follow up on what's the fastest way to delete all the google photos and videos because I still do have the originals

Answer:

But if you start deleting in the app, you also will delete your originals.
So you need to switch-off the backup and then you can start deleting on photos.google.com in the Chromebrowser per 500 selected and emptying the trash before the next selection.
Big job and bulk deletions are processed by Google very badly, so it may take days before your counter at one.google.com/storage goes to zero for Photos.
After that you can start backupping again, but then with original quality in its settings.
Be aware that you may need to start paying first if you have more then 15 GB on your phone.
Good luck

Question: moved pictures into albums and they disappeared, already deleted trash, where are they

Had 300 photos and I only have 30 now, I moved them into albums and they disappeared overnight

Hello, Chuck P

Welcome to the Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

When we add a picture to an album, we are merely creating an additional tag or label for improved grouping.
The same photo can be in multiple albums at the same time.

However, after adding the photos to albums did you delete those from the gallery thinking that those are now duplicates? Then that would turn out to be an incorrect action. Every album draws the photo through the gallery only.

Now if you have deleted the trash, it would be impossible to recover those.

Google Photos service to offer to every user with a Google account.
That's not linked to the use of Gmail.
You can stop using Gmail but continue to use the Google Photos service.
Further, you can have a Google account linked to any other email ID & not necessarily Gmail ID.

Answer:

Hello, Catalina Niculaita

It's not clear why do you want to delete pics from Google Photos.
Do you wish to free up some space on Google Drive by doing so?
Then, that action will succeed only if you are storing the pics in the original format,
Otherwise, at present, Google Photos occupy zero space on Google Drive for content in Hig-Quality format.

Further, when backup and sync is on, any delete action on the cloud will remove the corresponding pic on the phone also. That's the intended action of the Sync function.

However, it would be useful to know the actual intention in deleting the pictures from Google Photos.
