Question: Some of my photos are in gallery and some on google photo. How do i get all photos in one place?

Some photos are in gallery, and some in google photos. I want them all in google photo

Hello, Dana.

You can manage your photos and put them only in Google Photos by backing up all the photos from your phone gallery into your Google Photos.

After that, you can free up your device photos by following these steps.
  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Photos app .
  2. Sign in to your Google Account.
  3. Tap your account profile photo or initial  Photos settings  Free up device storage.
  4. You'll see how much space will be freed up. To delete all the items from your phone, tap Free up.
  5. To see your photos and videos, go to photos.google.com or open the Google Photos app.

Question: How to get my permanently deleted photos

To get my photos when they got permanently deleted

Hi Gaming with Tiger,

If a deleted photo or video isn't in trash, you can't restore it. You won't be able to restore a photo if:
  • You moved it to trash more than 60 days ago.
  • You moved it to trash, then emptied your trash.
  • You permanently deleted it from your trash.
  • You permanently deleted it from your device's Gallery app, without backing it up first.
If the images were on your phone's local storage, you can research if a third-party data recovery app is appropriate. Typically, you download data recovery software to a computer like your laptop, and attach your phone to the computer via USB cable. Then you run the software to attempt recovery on your phone's local storage (but NOT from Google's online servers.) There are no guarantees images will be recovered and you can decide if the lost images are worth the time and potential expense for recovery.

A few other options:
1. You can also visit https://get.google.com/albumarchive to see if any images were archived there.
2. Visit https://drive.google.com and use the search function to look for images that may have been backed up to Google Drive.
3. If you've shared the images on social media or with friends through other apps, see if they have any copies of important images.
4. Look to this help article for additional idea https://support.google.com/photos/answer/6306652?co=GENIE.Platform%3DAndroid&hl=en

Question: How to switch off video

I can't switch video off to use just as camera

Hi Belinda

1. On your Android device, select the Camera app icon
2. Look to the bottom menu options and make sure Camera (not Video) is selected
3. Additionally, when you take a photo with the camera app, simply tap the "shutter" round icon to take a photo. If you press the button, instead, you will get a burst of images or small video.  When you open the burst in Google Photos, you can swipe up to select the best shot from the burst of images.
4. If you don't like the burst / motion option at all, and want to turn it off, open Camera app > swipe down from top to reveal settings > turn off Motion.

Enjoy!

I'm having issues with freeing up space on my device. It keeps telling me there is stuff to free up, but when I click on it.. nothing happens. Then I will close the app and try again and it either says nothing to free up, or it does what I mentioned previous

Answer:

Hi Shay

Make sure that
1. You have a good wifi connection or sufficient cell data
2. Open Google Photos
3. Select profile icon
4. Check back up status
5. If there is an issue, note any alerts and follow recommended actions
6. Then, select profile icon > Photos settings > Back up & sync
7. Verify back up settings are correct, active, and that you have storage space left.

After you have verified that all backup settins are correct and completed,
1. Select Profile icon > Free up space
2. Google will remove any locally stored images that it considers backed up.

There may be other items on your phone that are taking up space.
1. Open all apps area
2. Select the Files by Google app (colorful folders icon)
3. Select Clean from the lower menu if not default
4. Select Junk Files
5. Select any other options available and follow prompts to consider other items to manage to free up space.

Best wishes,

Hi, Angel Chambers

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

The slide shows remain there for a short period & then vanish & get replaced by something else.
We can't share those with anyone, directly.

Nevertheless, you can use this method to do that.
You can switch on the screen recorder & then start the slideshow. That will record everything.
Once over, you can backup that video in Google Photos & share it with anyone.

The screen recorder is now available on Android 11. If not, you can download a suitable screen recorder app through the play store.

Hi there,

Please check your trash by going to http://photos.google.com/trash or in the app going to Library > Trash. If your photos are there, you can select them and restore them.

If you have already permanently deleted your photos from the trash, unfortunately there is no way we can recover them.

Hi there,

An easy way to do this on your phone is to select the photos you want to share, and then press the share button at the top of the screen. Tap More (the three dots), and this should bring up a list of apps that you can share too. Choose your email app of choice and this should attach the photos to your email.

Question: Find photos of yourself in photo search.

Hi Holmar,

Could you try this?
  1. In the Google Photos app, open a photo with your face in it, unobstructed (no mask, sunglasses, etc).
  2. Swipe up or press More (three dots, top right).
  3. Do you see your face under "people"?
  4. If yes, tap on your face, and then tap "Add a name" to label yourself.
  5. If no, try another photo and repeat the above steps.
If you still can't find your face group, let's make sure your settings are correctly enabled:
  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open Google Photos.
  2.  At the top right, tap your account profile photo or initial.
  3. Tap Photos settings > Group similar faces.
  4. Turn on Face grouping if it isn’t on already.
  5. Under "No face labeled as Me,” tap Choose.
  6. Select your face. Tap Ok. This will automatically turn on Help contacts recognize your face.
Note: this feature is not available in all countries, which may be why you can't enable the feature.

Let me know what you find,

Question: Move photo to clipboard

I want to put a photo my signature onto clipboard

Hi Leigh

I haven't found a way to copy and paste a photo to the clipboard (via the built in clipboard option on Android Gmail's Gboard) to use as a signature image, as it seems to only autosave selected text.

And, via the Gmail settings on Android, there is not a way to add a photo to the signature under Gmail > Left menu > Settings > General > Signature

You can add an image to Gmail signatures on the web version, although this will not transfer over to the mobile version.
To do that, on a web browser, visit your Gmail account > Settings > See all settings > General > Signature > + add new signature.  Selecte the image you want to include, and then select size (my recommendation is small), add text you want.  Scroll down a little bit and select the options (ex add signature to new emails, but not replies, etc.)  Then scroll to the bottom and select SAVE. (Very important step.)  Now the image will appear on your signatures sent via the web based version of Gmail.

My suspicion is that the photo option in signatures is not included on mobile to prevent people from using up a lot of data unintentionally, and to prevent the extra use of data on the recipient's end, too.  That way emails are faster, and smaller.  I think it makes sense.

Note, too, that if you have not yet done so, to add your photo to your profile icon on mobile.  Open Gmail, select the profile icon in the upper right, select manage my account, and then in the personal info section, select your profile icon, and add or change a photo.  This image will show up across all Google products where the profile is used, and if you want it visible to others, it will show up too.  You may want to visit https://myaccount.google.com/profile and make sure your visiblity settings are what you want for your profile picture and other information.

Cheers,

Joe

Hi Amira,

I'm sorry for your lost photos.

If the missing photos are not on the https://photos.google.com website (be sure to sign in with all your Google accounts if you have more than one) there's unfortunately not much to do, because those photos may have not been uploaded online and the only copies are likely on the lost device. Another thing to try is to locate the phone with Android's Find My Device Tool https://www.google.com/android/find

Hi, I have also tried to do this. I lost my Google Pixel 3a (which naturally had the google photos app). When I logged into my google photos account on my new phone they were not there, nor in the drive or on the google.photos section. They have not been deleted, etc.
I've lost 3 years of photos as a result.

This seems to be a recurring failure from Google given the amount of posts on this topic, so I can see that they have failed to answer anyone on this issue.
I have been waiting almost 2 months now to receive an explanation. Every single time I receive an email saying "we will respond to you soon". Truly disgusting customer service and its saddening that not one Google representative can exhibit any kind of decency to respond to people who have lost years of photos as a result of their incompetence.

Answer:

Hi Mick,

To make sure you didn't submit your photo book order with issues in it, check your photo book PDF.
Google may not be able to help you if your photo book PDF has certain issues, such as as incorrect titles.

To view and download the PDF:
  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Photos app.
  2. Sign in to your Google Account.
  3. At the bottom, tap Library and then Print store.
  4. Under "Past orders," select a photo book.
  5. Tap Download PDF of book.

If after you review the PDF you still have a problem:
  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Photos.
  2. Sign in to your Google Account.
  3. At the bottom, tap Library and then Print store.
  4. Under "Past orders," select the photo book you want to contact us about.
  5. On the details page, tap Contact support here.
If this link is not available, find your confirmation email, or receipt from your package. Another "Contact us" link is available there.

If the problem was in the original PDF, then you will need to correct the error on your end, and reorder the book.

Or, you can take it in stride. I ordered a book once for an anniversary and put on the wrong date. :-(
I used a bright red marker to correct my error and added a smiley face. It ended up being more memorable.

Question: My phone is showing me every thing on light mold or something

Hi Sonia,

Careful with those settings!  :-)

Check these two options to see if these help undo the symptom:
1. Swipe down from the top to reveal the settings shortcut icons. You may need to swipe twice to reveal everything.
2. Then swipe left or right to eventually find Invert Colors, and / or Dark Mode icons.
3. If you don't see those icons, select the pencil icon in the lower left of the settings quick access, search through the settings icons displayed. Then locate the Invert Colors, select it and drag it up to the active settings area. Repeat with Dark Mode if it is not in the active icon area.
4. Once that is done, return back to the settings short cut area per steps 1-2 above, select the Invert Colors.  See if that returns the screen to normal.
5. If not, select the Dark Mode icon and see if that changes things back.

Let us know if this helps.

Sync means that your photo library stays consistent across all devices that are signed in to your account with Google Photos.
For example, deleting a photo from one device will delete it from everywhere, and editing a photo on the web will edit the photo on the original device.
However, your action appears to be recent. If so, you will find the deleted pics in the Bin of the Google Photos app.

The Bin becomes visible through the library view. Tap that & recover everything

Thank you for the clarification.

What you are trying to do is called embedding and Google Photos doesn't unfortunately support embedding. Any direct links to the image files of the photos you may get is undocumented, unsupported, and may break at any time. Google Photos is not designed to do that, sorry.

You can get the direct links to the image files by ingenuity using the sharing function.
Answer from Expert unfortunately couldn't help you although it is just based on Help documented.
You cannot get a fixed direct link in any way while logged in. the link obtained by "Copy image URL" in the right-click menu after preview (= expand one image) will be invalid after a while. So, need some steps as follow.

1) Make a shared album and add a photo to it.
2) Create a shared link of it.
3) Logout or use Incognito mode (Private Browsing) to open the shared link.
4) Get a link by "Copy image URL" in the right-click menu after expanding view.

You can get the link like format below.
If you delete a shared folder so a direct link to the photo is deleted too. Last of "=w1236-h825" is size, you can change. If you change it to "=d\

What you are trying to do is called embedding and Google Photos doesn't unfortunately support embedding. Any direct links to the image files of the photos you may get is undocumented, unsupported, and may break at any time. Google Photos is not designed to do that, sorry.

Helo!
Welcome to the Google Photos help community.

Unfortunately,

If a deleted photo or video is not in the trash, you will not be able to restore it. You cannot restore a photo if:

you moved it to the trash more than 60 days ago;
you moved it to the trash and then emptied the trash;
you have permanently deleted it from your trash;
you've permanently deleted it from your device's "Gallery" app without backing it up first.

Graciously,

Tawanne.

Question: Recover lost photos

I deleted a lot of photos a week ago and also emptied the bin..is there any way i can get them back?

Hi Sukanya

Double check your trash by going to Photos > Left menu > Trash and see if any images remain.  If the trash was indeed emptied, or the images deleted after aging, then they cannot be recovered via Google Photos.

If the images were originally takein and stored on your phone, and you had backup and synced turned on, it is likely there were removed from the phone's local storage as well.  However, you can try a third-party image data recovery application for  phones. Research, download, and install the applicaiton on your compter. Then launch the data recovery application. Connect your phone to your computer via USB and follow the application's instructions. It will attempt to recover data from the local storage on your phone, but not the cloud backup.

Joe

PS - In the future, IF you need to get rid of images from your main photo stream view, you can try the Archive function in Photos.  This is a good resting place for images you don't want to see, without the risk of losing them by deleting them from trash.  Select an image, then go to the : menu in the upper right and choose Archive.  This will hide from the main view, but images can still be found in Search or in the left menu Archive section.

I cannot seem to nail down why my Pixel 3A phone keeps saving my DNG files as 1 mb DNG. I have stopped it from interacting with Google drive/photos...so no backup . This should mean that they are not touched and that it has nothing to do with the "quality setting"....is google ignoring this?? If there are special steps to avoid Google software interacting with my pnotos can you please share how to disable this.....

Question: missing my permanently deleted photos

i want my permanently deleted photos

Olá!
Bem-vindo à comunidade de ajuda do Google Fotos.

Infelizmente,

Se uma foto ou vídeo excluído não estiver na lixeira, você não pode restaurá-lo. Você não pode restaurar uma foto se:

você o moveu para a lixeira há mais de 60 dias;
você o moveu para a lixeira e depois esvaziou a lixeira;
você o excluiu permanentemente de sua lixeira;
você o excluiu permanentemente do aplicativo "Galeria" do seu dispositivo sem fazer o backup primeiro.

Graciosamente,

Tawanne.

Can you try seeing your photos through a browser?
Please enter https://photos.google.com on any browser on your phone. Log into your account & see whether that shows something.
If the browser displays the pics correctly, please provide an update here to know the next steps.

Hi, Vandhoreen Garcia

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

However, you can't backup photos on one phone through the other unless you make a physical transfer.

Otherwise, you have to activate backup & sync on every device.
