I have a problem when I try to copy large video files from my iPhone when it is low in space, so I had the idea to upload them to Google Drive/Photos and copy them back down.  I paid for more storage to achieve this.

Despite selecting full quality the file sizes are approximately half of the originals.  For example
On iPhone Full HD 60fps video of 40 minutes is 7.2gb, the same file in Google Photos is 3.5gb.

Why is this? I want to just have an exact bit by bit copy stored online.

I desperately need help with the fact that I cannot share Google Photos with just my husband and vice versa. Somewhere down the line I had blocked him on Google (not sure when or through which app) but I have now unblocked him. 
Is there something additional that I need to do - because we just cannot see anything we have shared both on our albums or on someone else's albums. When we send an album invitation it gives the usual "broken link" message upon clicking the "view" button.

Thanks for posting in the Google Photos Help Forum.

I understand and I'll be happy to help. How were the photos/videos uploaded? Was the Google Photos app used to do so?

If yes, it can be possible that the photos weren't uploaded successfully to Google Photos (cloud) and also make sure you're logged in to Google Photos with the same Google Account that you used during the backup. Photos/videos that are not synced or backed up, will still appear in Google Photos and will have this icon  (which means not synced/backed up) or some photos/videos will also show up with the two arrows in a circle mean backup is in progress.

Once the upload is complete there will be no icon on any photos/videos. Often, many of us misinterpret that they are all backed up because the photos/videos show up in Google Photos and we over see the icons on each photo/video. If the photos/videos weren't backed up they cannot be deleted from the Google Photos library nor Trash.

In case, you are uploading a large amount of data (photos/videos), please know that it might take 24-48 hours for the photos and videos to sync across all devices. Please ensure to have 'Backup & sync' enabled on the Google Photos settings while you're backing up your photos and videos. To check is the content is backed up, login in to photos.google.com to checked for your backed up photos and videos. 

However, if you're sure they were backed up, I recommend you looking for your video here:

Do I need to use the login credentials of person A to avoid using my storage? Again, the images need to be highest quality.

Hi Amanda, your photos are stored in your library in line with your upload settings.  If you add one of your photos to a shared album or create a shared album of your own, then the recipient only "sees" your copy and there is no storage used by the recipient. The photo still belongs to you and stays part of your library with the associated storage used.  If the recipient downloads a copy to their own library then it is stored according to their storage policy as well as yours.

Please note that, due to a variety of reasons, not all files can be recovered - but you can try!
 
1. Items deleted from your photos.google.com are stored in trash for 60 days and then are Auto-Deleted from trash and can not be recovered.
 
2. Items deleted manually from photos.google.com/trash can not be recovered.
 
3. Items deleted from your YouTube Channel can not be recovered.
 
4. Items deleted from your Gmail are stored in trash for 30 days and then are Auto-Deleted from trash and can not be recovered.
 
5. Items manually deleted from Gmail trash can not be recovered.
 
6. Items deleted from your Google Drive  will be stored in Drive Trash for 30 days and then be Auto-Deleted from Trash and can not be recovered.
 
1).If you are using a regular personal account
You will have to contact a Google Drive Specialist who *MAY* be able to restore it. Use this link:
 
2). If you use a work/student account (G Suite), you should contact your Account Admin as they can restore files up to 25 days after deletion.

I need to urgently create a slideshow for a funeral tomorrow.  I have all the photos uploaded to a drive, and to a photos album, but it won't allow me to create a slidehow quickly or this movie option called "In loving memory" because of this faces and groups error.  What I really need, if the faces group error cannot be fixed, is to have another option for how to do this quickly.  I followed the instructions online for resolving he issue but in settings, the option to choose faces does not exist as it is listed in the instructions.

Where are you located? Does the option to group faces show in here: https://photos.google.com/settings

Face grouping isn't available in all areas. 

I know you've tried a few different ways, but surely you can create a movie without using a face group... (i haven't tried myself)

Try clearing cache in Photos app and restarting device.

Also try from web portal (if you haven't already) photos.google.com ?

I don't like some of the groups that jumped on my hangout. I like it for very private conversation. Not groups of people who I have nothing in common with. 
   I rather choose my own groups. 
If someone wants to add, I rather check out profile and see what hobbies and interests they have.
I had people who , I have nothing in common with and it doesn't work out well. 
I do everything to remove them and get out of those groups. Thank you

It seems that multiple people have requested to be able to edit tags four people in pictures and videos. The federal recognition does not work properly some people in my photos have no tag and some are marked wrong.

I am having a huge issue with this also since my new baby favors his brother (when he was a baby). It keeps putting the new baby's photos into his brother's folder. Even when they are both in the same image, the system hasn't figured out the difference.  :(  it's super frustrating. 

So, I have figured out there is the feature to "Remove from Results." So I can take the new baby's photos out of his brother's folder (and it wont delete the images ... only untag his brother). That has been super nice. However, Manual Tagging needs added ASAP! This is driving me bananas.

Whenever I sign into my Google Photos, the search bar is filled in with a a location, and therefore I cannot see all of my photos. I can't find any way to delete the search and just see all my pix. What is wrong?

That is just misleading nonsense to suggest that you maybe able to search on certain locations. 
You should see all you have on the web, so there maybe something wrong in the way you are uploading. 
The small albums about Places and Things etc. are automatically created by Google and certainly will not contain all pictures you have in the library under the Photos-tab. 

Or your browser is a bit sick: cleaning-up its history and cookies every month is normal householding :-)

And using the Chromebrowser for all Google-affairs seems the best solution for everyone, because then you can stay logged-in (assuming that your computer has its own password). 

PS: and you may have used another Google-account containing pictures in the past.

I am having a similar issue. All the albums are visable on my PC, but I can't see all of them on either my iPad or iPhone. If I "search" I can find the albums and see the pictures. I want all albums visible. 
I have also clicked on the "show in albums" button and it still doesn't show up. I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app on my iPhone. It made no difference.

I've managed to make mine visible again by setting the sharing options to "shared" for each missing album, although I haven't actually shared them with anyone. It seems to have worked, but I shouldn't have to do that just to be able to see my own albums. Clearly some sort of glitch in the last iOS update.

Normally the sizes on Google Photos already are compressed if you use the unlimited storage option ("High Quality"). So generally you should be able to attach until about 5 pictures (no video's of course). 

If you want to send more, you really should share straight from Google Photos. 

Else you would need to download selected pictures to your computer and then use some software-app to downsize before attaching and that is too much work.
