If you open that picture in the Photos-app and hit the editor-icon, you will see that you can revert right down. If not you may have switched-off backupping or the edits were saved as a copy and then they can't be undone anymore. But in that case the original still must exist also - if not, then the original was deleted.

That is impossible because Picasaweb started in 2006/2007 and was stopped in 2016 (if ever used) and you need to log-in with your old account into get.google.com/albumarchive to be able to see some albums of those years.

I'm sorry for the lost memories.

If the missing photos are not here https://photos.google.com (be sure to sign in with all your Google accounts if you have more than one), nothing can unfortunately be done to recover them. In this case the most likely explanation is the photos on the Pixel 3 were never uploaded online and the only copies are on the dead device.

That's impossible and there is no need for because you perfectly can view them in the Photos-app large or small because most of the time you will have wifi or you can switch-on mobile data for a while.

So only in case you need one picture for some social app, just open that picture and tap the 3 dots to see the download option.

But to have 200 recent photos at hand you can install the Google One app for free and after downloading you can remove the app again.

PS: there are some complex methods for bulks, but these are too uncomfortable. But in Whatsapp you can reach Google Photos now > tap the paperclip > choose Gallery > tap the 3 dots and select Photos.

Head over to https://one.google.com/storage/management and check if the storage is in any of the trash places, or large files in Gmail, Drive & Photos, or just below in Unsupported videos. This should give a clue on where the storage is being used.

Up until the 31st May you can Recover storage at https://photos.google.com/settings to reduce the storage used by Google Photos to zero.

From June 1st new HQ uploads will use storage at a reduced size, HQ upload before June 1st remain free

If you deleted an item and want it back, check your trash to see if it’s there.

On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Photos app .
At the top left, tap Menu Trash .
Touch and hold the photo or video you want to restore.

- In your phone’s gallery app
- In your Google Photos library
- In any albums it was in

If the item is not in your trash, it may be permanently deleted.

Don't see the photo or video?

If a deleted photo or video isn't in trash, you can’t restore it. You won't be able to restore a photo if:

You moved it to trash more than 60 days ago.
You moved it to trash, then emptied your trash.
You permanently deleted it from your trash.

You may also try to get professional help, but sorry to say Google cannot do anything about it.

You can check how much space you used in your Google account by opening the Google Photos app, tapping your profile image, and looking under Account storage.

That information is there when backup is switched-on - else you first need to go to Settings > Backup > ON.

But that information is not correct either - in my case it says 5 GB of 15 GB used, but that usage is for my Gmail merely.

So only in case someone hardly does use Gmail and Drive, the indication is about correct for Photos only. Google never learns to be more clear hélas (on Apple you would have different colors in the bar :-)

PS: log-in on one.google.com/storage to see the real situation.

And use one.google.com/storage/management to find fat items which may be deleted.

But your new unit should be empty, so there is nothing to upload at all.

Unless you have used Samsung transfer or alike - then your new unit is filled with all stuff from your old one and then you maybe right about re-uploading - but for social media pictures merely because these have no correct metadata and are seen as new files with the date of their transfer.

If I am right, you are in great trouble to get these duplicates remove. But if you select Recently added on the Search page, you have them all together and can be deleted.
