Please check in the Google Photos trash, maybe there are the photos/videos you are looking for. (Open Google Photos --> Trash)

Open Google Photos, tap the 3-line menu in upper left
Tap on Settings,
Tap on Backup and Sync
Find the setting for "Back up device folders" and tap on that
You should see a button to turn on/off Backup for each device folder. Turn OFF the ones you don't want to see

If your screens are different, you may need to update your Google Photos app.

Then regret, that's an irreversible action.

There is no way to recover the pictures through google photos.

and run a scan for anything to recover.

Then, turn on the Back up & sync toggle

Important note: Read and understand the "Important update about your High quality storage" or similar on the Back up & sync settings page. Basically, all photos after June 1, 2021 will count against your Google Storage quota. If you are paying for storage you are probably fine, if not you want to understand that you probably will at some point.

The same caution applies... all photos after June 1, 2021 will count against your Google Storage quota. If you are paying for storage you are probably fine, if not you want to understand that you probably will at some point.

I am a regular subscriber to Google storage for my photos as well as gmail. The subscription stopped as my one credit card expired. Today on being promoted in gmail and photos that my emails and backups not working, I went ahead and added new credit card ( replacement of expired card) and clicked subscribe using that one. After being redirected to bank and filling one time password as prompted, I got an error something like

"Uh oh , this card doesn't support automated subscripting billing "

That would have been fine. But I got billed! And since I was still getting storage full, I tried once more. And I got the same error and got billed again! Please help revert these payments and also tell me what I can do to subscribe again!

Hello,

Thank you for responding and suggesting me two solutions. I tried both of them.

Unfortunately neither has helped so far. Google One app support is deactivated for me, as my subscription stopped the moment my credit card expired and next due date passed. Now even to activate support, I need to subscribe to Google One, which is exactly what I am unable to do!

The Google Pay link is something else. It is about Google's Payment service that we use here in India to make payments to merchants and peers via UPI, credit cards etc. I did not use Google Pay interface to subscribe to Google One. I simply had a credit card in my Google Play settings. That credit card expired. And new one now gets this error "Uh Oh, this credit card doesn't accept recurring payments". Not only that, another credit card I have gives the same error as well.

Please connect me with the right Google team to let me know what's failing, revert my two failed payments, and help me reinstate Google One subscription so that my Photos and gmail are backed up again!

I am very sorry to hear about the problems you are having, but we are a team of volunteers who do not have access to any Google resources other than specific issue with Google Photos.

Google One is a service associated with shared storage for Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Photos.

Google Pay is also used for Google One subscriptions without the need to be used as a service to make payments to merchants.

If you step through the options at https://support.google.com/pay/gethelp you will see articles which refer you to Google Play and if you do not see any helpful suggestions keep clicking Next and you will eventually reach a contact page <see screenshot online> where you have a choice of contacts who should be able to help.
