There is nothing wrong with your settings (assuming you had Upload ticked when you first started) and your photos should be at photos.google.com
Try signing in to the same account as the account used to sign in to Backup and Sync, using an Incognito or Private window.

Basically it is not possible to delete from Google at all because then you ruïne part of your backup and for what special reason you delete from Google and keep on phone?
So the best thing to is to hide special or technical pictures (like screenshots often are) by archiving them.
The more complicated approach is to switch-off backupping temporarily and then delete all screenshots from your Google site at photos.google.com in your browser. Thereafter move the screenshots from the Camera-folder into some selfmade non-synced folder on the Library-page of the app. And then you can switch-on backupping again to go on with "normal life".
You still will see the screenshots in the Google app like all local pictures and that can't be prevented.

The problem is the meaning of the word "albums".
If you have created albums in Google Photos, they still would be visible in the Photos-app on your new phone assuming that you are logged-in with the same account.
And they also should be visible on https://photos.google.com/albums in the Chrome-browser.
But if these "albums" were created in some Gallery-app, only their contents may still be visible on the new Photos-app, but not the "albums" themselves anymore. Same problem with creating different device folders.

A couple of months ago I had discovered that I couldn't search my photos using a simple keyword (from the descriptions) anymore like I was used to. I thought it was a bug and I hoped the feature would come back.
Today I've decided to set a description for a new photo even though it does not work anymore but it WORKED !! Unfortunately it only works for the descriptions I've just set ! It doesn't work for the descriptions I've set 1, 2 or 3 years ago. I've tried to edit an old photo descritpion by adding an "abcd" keyword to the description and suddenly this photo was in the results for all of its keywords !
Obviously I can't add a "test" keyword on ALL my photos just to "refresh" / "wake up" Google Photo, so what can I do ?
I used the descriptions to "tag" almost all my photos :( This feature is a must have, specially when we all have so many photos on the cloud.

I use description field for all of our family photos. For example, if Nana is not recognized by facial recognition, I type Nana into the description field. Then when searching, I click on the people icon for Nana, and also type right next to her name in the search field "Nana" just like that in quotes. I capture the people linked Nana(s) who are linked to a face, as well as all Nana(s) where I typed "Nana" into the description. This goes back to all photos I have uploaded, which is probably 20K family photos. And works for multiple people. For example, I can have one photo where I've typed "Cousin Joe, Aunt Hilda, Grandma Jane" (no quotes) and when I want to search for JUST Grandma Jane, I select the people face for Grandma Jane, and then type "Grandma Jane" in quotes right next to that in the search box and I get ALL pictures that Grandma Jane is in, even if other people are listed in the description. The current video editing features in Google Photos allows these actions
- Export frames
- Stabilise
- Rotate
- Trim
There is no option to do something on the sound.
You have to look for some proprietary video editor to patch up the missing sound.
However, if you create a movie using any existing videos or pictures, then you can add your audio track.
You can use that workaround. Create a movie using existing video, add some pictures to that & choose your narration. You can use the picture to indicate the end of the movie.
To add sound, open the movie in edit mode, tap the music symbol & select your recording. That would serve your purpose.

However, can you provide some more details?
What's the make, model & android version on your phone?
Further, how much space is available in the internal memory of the phone? Too small space can make some apps misbehave.
Nevertheless, please try clearing the stored data of the app & reinstall that through the following steps.
On your Android phone, open the Settings.
Tap Apps and notifications.
Tap Show all apps.
Tap Google Photos.
Tap Storage and cache.
Tap Clear storage.
Next, uninstall the Google Photos app.
Power off the phone & then restart.
Install the latest version of the Google Photos app through the Play Store.

There used to be a connection between Google Drive and Google Photos, but that was shut down in July of 2019. If you had the setting turned on before then - all your photos from Google Photos are in your Drive up to July 2019. They're in a folder in Drive called "Google Photos - yourname" and they're organized by year, and then month. If you have that folder, then you just need to get the Google Photos since that date.
The only way I know of to do that is to download from Google Photos to your computer, then upload to Google Drive.
