Question: Hi. I am wondering I have a camera file AND a photo file with the same pictures in both.

I just want to have one file for all photos

@Debra
The Google Photos app shows your camera-pictures in the Camera-folder on Library-page as well as on the Photos-page, but it just are the same files viewed in a different way.
But if the free-up space option in the app is used, the camerafolder will get empty in order to make space for new pictures, but the Photos-pages still will show same pictures - but then it are the copies stored at Google, so the real cloud.
Confusing: yes indeed and thereby causing a lot of drama's.
But we can't change a mighty company.

PS: you always can view your contents at Google via photos.google.com, also on your computer. But because it are your private pictures, you need to log-in with the same account as used in the app.

Answer:

Sorry Debra, I missed your reply.

Yes of course: just because it are the same files - but if you do the reverse: deleting in Gallery, these pictures also will disappear in the Photos-page, but there they will get replaced by the copies at Google.

So the rule is: delete bad or useless pictures in the Google app because then they are deleted from phone as well as from Google. Or delete old pictures in Gallery to make space on your phone.

Precious pictures you don't want to show in the Google app, can be hided by archiving them.
Then they still stay safely stored at Google and can be removed from Gallery.

Have a good Eastern time.

Question: I want to know how to hide pacific photos

I'm trying to hide photos and videos.

Hi, Aleza Turner

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

The Google Photos app doesn't provide any option to hide a photo.

You can archive a photo to hide from the gallery view. However, the picture will continue to be there in albums & search results.

I want Google to verify that my Gmail account has been closed and my personal information used to open the account has been removed from Google's files.  I've used Google's search engine for years, but I was shocked to find out that Google considered my personal information used to set up the account, was considered a commodity for profit.  I found out Google was pedaling my information to anyone who would pay for it.  There is a way to Opt Out of this invasion into our personal information by making changes to the settings of our accounts.  Google tries to make it sound like they are providing a service sharing the details, by allowing third party businesses to start sending promotional ads to our email address, through the U. S. Postal Department, publishing our home phone numbers so manufacturers could call our homes and even door to door salesmen.  It also allowed Google to recommend websites that should interest any of their individual customer account.  Supposedly Google only shares our information with businesses or individuals who agreed to keep any details they purchased confidentially.   But the bottom line is Google has no idea how our information was used and resold.  Shouldn't Google get permission to profit from their customers' information first.  They could add a line, offering ways to make our daily life better by monitoring everything you do while you're on the Internet and reading all of your email messages.  All they would have to do is add their "offer" to make our lives better by selling our personal information to any business or individual willing to pay for it.
Why wouldn't Google ask for permission?  It's because Google knows there really isn't anyway for them to guarantee the business or individual who buys our information won't resale it or how many times it's resold.
We can find the same information about a new business or product without Google selling our information just by asking Google to find it.  I think we might be more selective in picking the types of businesses we want to do business with and the information we'd like to share.

I took some photos with aeroplane mode on, as I was in an area with no signal / 4G. I had just turned my phone on after about 12 hours, after charging it from no battery (it died when in aeroplane mode).
When I turned aeroplane mode off a while later, an error message appeared to say the phone had the wrong date & time. This then synced to the correct date and time.
When I tried to find the photos I'd taken at first I panicked because I thought they had disappeared. (I tried a few fixes from other threads, including clearing the cache.) But just now I found them showing up in my camera roll, as though they had been taken about 2 months ago, i.e. with the wrong date. Presumably this is because my phone defaulted to a date 2 months ago for whatever reason, and because the photos were taken before the phone corrected its date, they now have that date.
How do I change the date of these pictures?

Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks

Delete photos from my page, can see them on website but in "my photos"

Probably you are talking about your G+ page, but if you switch-off the G+ in your account page , that page will disappear automatically and after March 7 everything related with G+ in your Archive will disappear also. So you don't need to do more now.

Question: 07/02(2021 ka photos kaise recover hoga

Factory after receiving

Hello There,

If you deleted an item and want it back, check your trash to see if it’s there.
  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Photos app .
  2. At the top left, tap Menu   Trash .
  3. Touch and hold the photo or video you want to restore.
  4. At the bottom, tap Restore. The photo or video will be back:
    • In your phone’s gallery app
    • In your Google Photos library
    • In any albums it was in
If the item is not in your trash, it may be permanently deleted.
Don't see the photo or video?
If a deleted photo or video isn't in trash, you can’t restore it. You won't be able to restore a photo if:
  • You moved it to trash more than 60 days ago.
  • You moved it to trash, then emptied your trash.
  • You permanently deleted it from your trash.
  • You permanently deleted it from your device’s Gallery app, without backing it up first.
To find and recover photos easily, turn on back up & sync.

You may also try to get professional help, but sorry to say Google cannot do anything about it.

Tip: You can try using some data recovery apps from the play store. it might work.

Answer:

If you can find one of those photos that is not yours, and - on a computer open that photo and click the i for Info. Towards the bottom you should see info about the source of the photo "uploaded from Computer" or "taken with iPhone" or Shared by ______ and saved"
If it says shared by someone it means that you were viewing someone else's photos and then clicked the Save button (cloud with down arrow) and that copies them to your library.
What does yours say?

Thank you for your response! By opening them in my computer and looking at ALL of them and their source, I was able to figure out where they must have come from. This has brought up another issue, though, and Google Help customer service has been unable to assist me. I had a name change five years ago. I changed my email address and updated my name in my Google Account Any personal info. All looks good most places, but then I'll do something like post here, and I show up as Joni Benedict, which is my former name, and the email about your response went to my old email (thankfully I kept it!). Any ideas?

Answer:

Regarding accounts all I can advise is to pay attention to the account button in the upper right corner of every Google product. Make sure you are signed in with the account you want.
If you don't have any content you need to keep (photos, emails, calendar items, etc) under that old account, you may want to delete the entire account

When I initiate a backup with google photos, the photos are quickly and easily backed up and suggested to be deleted from the device. But my videos seem to never back up (since when I close the app it says the backup wasn't completed because the app was force closed, after being open for hours and hours for backup) and they all show an icon in the corner of them of a cloud with an exclamation point in it. Some are old, some are new. I am signed into the same google account with it. The "amount of items needed to back up" goes up and down each time I open the app to check the status. Most videos are not very long at all.
I only want to make sure they're working correctly and being backed up..

On my old iPhone I had the google photos app installed. I used the 'free up space' function to permanently delete some photos from my iPhone and have them backed up in google photos. The back up worked because I could only see these photos in the google photos app.
Fast forward 6 months, that iPhone has broken with no screen functionality. I have a new iPhone. I have installed google photos app to it, and signed in using the same account details. None of my backed up photos are visible?
I then read that I should turn on "back up and sync" which I did. All this did was then back up some of the photos from my new phone.
Is there one 'cloud' that should have all photos from all devices synced to it? I have logged into google photos from a pc but the only photos I can see are the few recent ones from my new phone?

Answer:

Hello Amy,

Welcome to the Google Photos Help Community.

I certainly understand how important those files to you. Could you please confirm, is the photos missing on both web version of the Google Photos (photos.google.com) and the Google Photos App as well?

Just a heads up: If the photos aren't available in photos.google.com then it looks like the photos aren't backed up properly to your Google Photos account.

Incase if your Google Photos aren't synced on your new phone, there might be a possibility that your account isn't set to sync. Go to your main mobile Settings > Accounts > your Google Account and check if the Google Photos is set to sync.

Meanwhile, as you're unable to find your photos, I'd suggest you check your internet connect and speed. Also, please check for the following things:

1. Can you see them via Picasa?
2. Are they in the trash?
3. Check the Assistant for the status of your backups.
4. Ensure you are logged in to the correct Google account.

If you see your old ones, but not the recent photos & videos then your photos and videos might still be loading. We recommend checking again in 1-2 more days.

Also, try checking the missing photos on Google Photos library. Incase, if you might have moved the photos to trash, it will not automatically removed from:
  • Blogger
  • YouTube
  • Gmail
  • Google+
If you don't find the photos, I'd recommend you look for your photos here, signing in with all your Google accounts if you have more than one.

If you still can't find your photos, then unfortunately there isn't a way to retrieve them. I'd also recommend you contact the Google Drive support team as they can restore photos up to 21 days after deletion if the photos are available in the Google Drive. You can click the "Missing or deleted files" entry of the  and request a phone call or any other option that works for you.

Check out these handy help center articles for more information on how to "See if you can restore deleted photos& videos" and "Find missing photos & videos".

Keep me posted.

Best,
Sonya

Ok, so I have a (according to me) really strange problem.

A while back (a few years), I synced all my photos on my computer to Google Photo and shared all of my photos with my wife through partner sharing. She is also sharing her entire Google Photos account with me. Everything works fine for newly added pictures (we are bot using iPhone and the Google Photos app), but for the old, initially synced photos, they are not showing up on my Google Photos account, only in my wifes account.

Has someone else had this problem?

Answer:

Hello Magnus,

Photos shared to a partner and added to their account are not visible to you because they are marked as originating from you excluded from the reciprocal share,

Regards,

Peter

Answer:

Ok, thanks for your answer but what's the difference between my old photos and the new ones? Why can I see all the new photos?

And more importantly- how can I get my old pictures back to my account? Can she share them back with me? Can those pictures easily be filtered out in some way?

Answer:

Sorry, no idea what's the difference between your old photos and the new ones.

All I can say is that any photos initially saved by your wife from your share cannot be shared back to you using partner sharing. She would have to put them in an album and share the album to you. No filters available to help, just the info in the picture which gives it's origin. See example screenshot online

Samsung 7 smartswitched to samsung s21 along with sd card photos moved to gallery.  Google photos show backed up as storage/emulated/o/dcim/camera.  What is emulated pathway?  Samsung s21 does not have a sd card, that is why photos put in gallery.  But google photos shows this emulated pathway in details section.  How to fix this?

Answer:

Hello Barbara,

Google do not share technical information with us so I can't give an authoritive answer, but as far as I know internal memory emulates an SD card to provide USB connectivity of Android devices to PCs and to restrict unauthorized access of apps/processes to user's private media and other apps' data.

All the Androids I have ever owned have had the same format, so nothing to fix.

Peter
