After uploading a picture to Google Photos, usually users remove it from internal storage to free up space and since it was already backed up, makes all the sense. Despite Google Photos has good edit features, there's one missing: flipping (vertically but specially horizontally) a Google Photos only picture, like it's possible today to crop or rotate.

Doesn't make sense to first download the image, flip locally and then re-upload the flipped one. Please see the attached images for a simple example (first image is the original and second one flipped horizontally).

Today when I tried to transfer my photos to my computer I realized that all the photos used to create the album are no longer in the Camera folder, thus nowhere to be found on my computer. They just disappeared locally. I can still see them in my Google album of course, but I'd like to keep them locally on my phone as well, not stored only online. I did not delete them myself obviously.

Is it just automatic that when you use pictures for a Google album those pictures no longer exist locally on your phone?

If you don't use the free-up space option in the Photos-app yourself everyday, you must have running some cleaner-app which moves new files to some safe folder or trash automatically.

Maybe that is a function in some recently installed app - perhaps Google One???

It is not clear if the Google Photos app is your gallery and if you are talking about a device folder or about an album on the Library page of the app. An album can be deleted, but then the individual pictures still will stay in the mainstream on the Photos-pages. But it was a device folder, you only may hope that its contents is found back in the trash on the Library and can be recovered.

But if you are talking about some other gallery, I can't guess if the content is in the trash of that gallery.

15 GB always has been X000 photos (or X fat videos) if stored at original quality, assuming that you don't use Gmail and Drive also. And if you want to avoid paying for additional space, you will need to delete some oldies every week indeed.

But if you always have used high quality and you want to go on with uploading in that quality that, your counter at one.google.com/storage will start from zero at June 1 and slowly will count-up towards 15 GB.

And then there will come some day in 2022/3 that you need to delete some oldies every week indeed.

Or just start paying 22 dollars per year.

Open the screenshot in Google Photos.

Swipe up to reveal the menu options.

Swipe left or right to show the Print option.

Select Print and follows the prompts to select your cloud-based printer. Usually the printer has to be on the same WiFi.

(Other printers may have a tap and print option similar to Google Pay, where you physically tap your phone to a device to pay in a store. Here you would tap your phone to the the printer and it wirelessly transmits the image data to the printer. You'll need to refer to your printer instructions, if that is an option for your particular model.)

Do send a link to his normal e-mailadres and do ask what is wrong on Google Photos.

You also may have blocked him accidentily in some foregoing album, but I don't know how you can check and correct that at the moment.

Hi Steve, I thought the free storage was for photos taken with the Pixel, rather than an offer to migrate all your past photos via the phone and get free storage. It would be interesting to know whether there is a flag which identifies the Pixel photos and stores them for free. I have tried looking at the Pixel forum but can't find any clarification.

That said, back to the question, there is no current method to determine which photos are using quota as Backup from Android and iOS are all included in the Photos total with no drill down currently available.

There may be an issue if all photos are taking up space, one reason could be your previous phone still being registered as the Primary phone for your account. You can check at https://myaccount.google.com/device-activity and remove any previously registered devices, Regards, Peter

I've already uploaded thousands of images (probably 100gb worth at this point) and the storage used is only 17.4mb. relatively small, not really a huge deal. But it's just odd that I can't figure out how or which image is taking up space.

Nevertheless, when you tap the delete icon in the Google Photos app, a warning appears telling you what will happen if you proceed. On your phone, that message asks, "Remove from Google account & synced devices?"

When you attempt to manually empty the trash/bin in Google Photos, another warning appears that explains the consequences of permanently deleting those pictures and videos.
If you choose to proceed anyway, there is nothing that any of the volunteers in this forum can do to help you recover your pictures.

Some phonemakers put the screenshot folder in the DCIM-folder and Google is not that clever to show that folder on the Library-page separately, but just in a folder named Camera (=DCIM) which always is synced.

So you can do nothing against this, unless by hiding your screenshots (hopefully not many) by archiving them from the mainstream.

Not bright, but you may complain via the feedback option under your profile.

PS: if you install the simple Google Gallery Go app, the screenshot will be shown separately from the real camerafolder. And if you switch-off automatic backupping, you can decide in that Gallery which pictures should be "shared" with your private Google-cloud.

Thanks for feedback, because that makes it possible to check ourselves (we are private volonteers here).

I got the same problem in my largest album with about the same amount, but no problem with a somewhat smaller album under 2000 (the old albumlimit). So I need to report this problem to Google and that may take 100 years to get solve because you may be the first person in the world asking this and then your priority goes down to zero.

But I also tested in the browser (Chrome) by opening photos.google.com and there it seems no problem.

So you have a workaround and you also can do this on laptop - that is much more comfortable.

PS: not checked yet, but your changes may not be visible for others if they view the album shared.

We simply are not able to test this ourselves in order to find a solution. On site you are able to change dates for a better order, but even that is a timeconsuming job.

If the disorder is caused by pictures from Whatsapp or alike, you should blame such media because these strip original data.

PS: I have been not succesfull with asking about the 2000 limit in albums on Android yet.

I would blame the Messenger instead.

Maybe you can do the same as in Whatsapp now: if you hit the paperclip and choose Gallery and then hit the 3 dots right-up, you maybe able to choose the Google Photos app and then you have access to tons.

If you deleted an item and want it back, check your trash to see if it’s there.

On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Photos app .
At the top left, tap Menu Trash .
Touch and hold the photo or video you want to restore.
At the bottom, tap Restore. The photo or video will be back:
- In your phone’s gallery app
- In your Google Photos library
- In any albums it was in

If the item is not in your trash, it may be permanently deleted.

Don't see the photo or video?

If a deleted photo or video isn't in trash, you can’t restore it. You won't be able to restore a photo if:

You moved it to trash more than 60 days ago.
You moved it to trash, then emptied your trash.
You permanently deleted it from your trash.
You permanently deleted it from your device’s Gallery app, without backing it up first.

To find and recover photos easily, turn on back up & sync.

You may also try to get professional help, but sorry to say Google cannot do anything about it.

Tip: You can try using some data recovery apps from the play store. it might work.
