I deleted photos from my phone to free up space. I went directly to Google photos. They disappeared. I know they were there. I took the videos Saturday. I've never had this problem. They're not in deleted. I didn't delete them from Google photos. I took another quick video to see if it would do it again. It saved. The videos lost are from my daughter's wedding, which makes this worse.

I need to print 800 screenshots, they are saved on google photos. I want to resize those 800 screenshots and to fill them in on a 2x2 grid, or any grid to save space and to save ink and paper. I'd rather print 200 pages of smaller images than 800 of one large image.

Question: Google Photos 'Time' info does not update the files

Hi All I've recently had to take early retirement so have finally got around to correcting the hundr…

Hi All
I've recently had to take early retirement so have finally got around to correcting the hundreds of scanned pics from the scanning date to the actual date they were taken, I did so in the Google Photos 'info' and after about 2 weeks it all finally looks in correct order both in the app and on the web.
I decided to download them all to have a 'hard copy' of them, so after unzipping everything, was left with a load of folders for the various albums and Years taken in.
However, all the scanned pics are not showing the corrected dates!
Is there some sort of utility that can write the date (that's in Google Info) to the downloaded files? I've tried 'Exif Date Changer' and that's good for when a range of photos are on a specific day/date, but not much good when they're all spread over diff dates.
Thanks for any help....

Edit: I've been doing a lot of reading on this today. As you probably know, all the edits I did in the GP app & site are in the accompanying .json files for each pic. There are 3rd party paid-for software that can merge the two back together, also some free ones to do it as well, but they're non-gui tools that are way over my head in how to use them.

Answer:

Hi, Phil Morris 12

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

The information regarding the date, time & place corrections made in Google Photos remains on the server only & doesn't get included in the downloaded picture.

Please see the note in the help desk article
"You can change the date and time stamps for photos and videos using a computer. When you change the date and time of your photo, the edited date and time will appear in Google Photos. But if you share it to other apps or download it, it may show the original date and time saved by your camera."

The only way to avoid that is to edit the date & time, first on a desktop, & then upload the pics to Google Photos.

Nevertheless, you can suggest that improvement through the help & feedback route.
Here is a link explaining how to do so.
Once a sufficient number of users request the same feature, that may become available later on.

Answer:

@Phil
There is no simple method to solve your problem and sending a feedback to a company with so less brains makes no sense either - just because of a too low amount of users with the same problems.

So you simply should have used editing software on PC which allows for adjusting dates in the correct way before uploading like stated by mr. Unknown.
And because you are talking about hundreds instead of thousands, that still maybe the best approach.

Another way is not using Google Photos for this special stuff at all, but Microsoft OneDrive instead.
Then you need to give your files serial filenumbers which allows for sorting in the right chronologic order within a folder, but that can be much more simple then individual dating.

I can't rename any folder I have created, please give a solution for OnePlus 8t

Hi, Maanbhav Creations

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

However, regretfully, your query is not related to any feature in the Google Photos app .
Google Photos arranges to rename a folder by passing on the request to the OS.
The OS on such models are not pure Android but reconfigured versions & that creates problems.

Nevertheless, I noted some discussions on Reddit and found another user has suggested some solution through direct messaging. You can try that.

Question: Photo sharing

Hello dear Google team. My photos from Google Photos are shared with a friend. How can I prevent my …

Hello IIkin,
There are three areas I would recommend looking to:

Stop Sharing
First, make sure you are not sharing any albums with him.
You must be the owner of the album to remove someone.
  1. Open the desired album.
  2. Click More and then Options.
  3. Scroll to find the contact you’d like to have removed.
  4. Click More  and then Remove person.
You can find more detailed information here:

Block a Person
To stop interactions with someone, you can block their Google Account.
Open the Google Photos app Photos.
Open an album that they've joined.
Next to the person's name, tap More and then Block person.

You can find out what happens when you block a person

Secure your account
If you shared your password at some time with your ex, or they happen to know your password, take the opportunity to secure your account and change your password.
Visit https://myaccount.google.com/ and use the security and privacy checkups to address areas of concern.  You may want to use the Google Account area to log out of all devices, then change password and log back in with new password.

Be sure to have additional verification methods (like a phone numbr and another email address added to your account) that you can use for verification if something goes wrong during a password reset, so you can still access your account.

Thanks.

2. Check the trash - photos.google.com/trash

If you deleted them by mistake you can always restore them from the Trash folder within those 60 days. Here's the link explaining how to recover them from Trash. If you have more than one Google account, check the trash for all of them.

If you accessed the Trash and manually sent the photos for permanent deletion, or if the 60 days expired, there is no way to recover them from Google Photos

3. Review other options

Trying to find my google photos as I changed my password

Hi Komal Lulla,

Welcome to the Google Photos Product Help Forum!

>>>> I just changed my google password and now my google photos are missing . How do I find them ?

Changing your password does nothing to your Photos, Contacts, Drive contents, etc.

It is very likely that you have more than one Google (probably Gmail) account and the images are in a different account.

Remember, it is possible for a give device to use more than one account for different services.  So, for example, you might use AccountABC to logon and manage your Android phone and AccountZYX for Google Photos..  This is not necessarily typical, nor a best practice, but can happen if somebody sets a new phone for you (for example).

You don't say whether you are having a problem on a PC or mobile device or both, but look for them at https://photos.google.com/u/0/   (for all accounts you ever used).

Good luck, Dougsap (volunteer Google Photos user)

Answer:

Hello Jorge!

Welcome to the Google Photos Help Community!

If your photos are linked to a Google Photos account, the steps are simple to backup. I did the same procedure on my Iphone and it worked perfectly. Apple does not support Google Photos, so it will have to be downloaded from the Apple Store.

First Step: Download google photos directly from apple store.

Second Step: Open the app.

Third Step: Log in using your google account where your photos were stored

fourth Step: select the tab where you have an initial letter or your profile fort

Fifth Step: Choose Google Photos Settings and then Backup and Sync.

Sixth Step: Activate the backup and sync function

Hope this helps. If the problem persists, I'm waiting for your return!

I'm trying to make room on my Android. Keeps telling me I don't have enough. So I was putting photos into archive. Does that take them off your phone memory and move them to the archive? Or just copy them to archive? I was confused about how this actually worked. Thank you.

Answer:

Hi Franci,

>>> Does that take them off your phone memory and move them to the archive?

No it does not. It simply hides if from view in the ~Photo stream~.  Granted the name "Archive" can seem misleading.

The easy way to gain storage on your phone is to use "Free up space" which removes the local version of the images which have been copied to the Google Photos cloud:

It is always a good idea to save important images in more than one place.  Mine are in Google Photos, on my laptop, and in multiple external USB drives (one is 50 miles away).

Question: Missing pictures

Check trash

Hi there,

Please review the following information in case there are any options you haven't yet tried.

1. Check your online account - photos.google.com
If your photos were successfully uploaded to your online Google Photos account they may be available there. Try visiting photos.google.com and searching for them. If you have more than one Google account, check all of them.

2. Check the trash - photos.google.com/trash
Once you delete photos from your Google Photos account, they're moved to Trash for the next 60 days.

  • visit picasaweb.google.com and search for your photos.
  • have you made any backups of the photos on your phone, camera, computer, or elsewhere?
  • there is a small chance that you can restore the photos using a recover deleted photos app.
  • you can contact the Google Drive support team to see if any deleted files may be recovered. Use the Google Drive contact form, click Missing or deleted files, select a contact option, and be sure to tell them you permanently deleted files in Google Drive.
  • If you ever shared the photos with anyone else, it's possible they may have a copy they could share back or send to you.

I recently sent my pixel 4a to Google to have the screen replaced. I ensured backup and sync was enabled and in Google Photos. The phone has been returned and I have restored from the back up but my Google photos app only shows the photos taken since the phone has been returned and is not syncing photos from my account although these are visible when viewed online and backup and sync is enabled in the Google photos app and it is configured with my account. Can you help me sync the photos to my phone please?

Answer:

Hello Rob,

Backup & sync does not restore photos to the phone so what you are seeing is working as intended.

If you really need the photos on your phone you can install the Google One app there is a one time option to restore up to 200 most recent photos to the device. I say up to because after the Restore is finished there will be a maximum of 200 photos on the device including their use of the device's local storage space.

Unfortunately the local folder structure can not be restored.

There is no requirement to join Google One, the option is available to everyone and there are no tools available to restore more unless one by one by selecting the 3 dot option to Download while viewing photos.

Regards,

Peter

I had several type of phones (including iOS and android) the backup was always on and always brought the files. The last time I changed my phone they never appear on Photos. I tried backing up, freeing up some space and even trying all suggestions. If there is some other ways to recover my pictures I would be really thankful

When I click on Albums in the left navigation pane, it shows my albums and the number of items in each. However, I've done a manual count of the items in one large album, and while it shows 1686 items my manual count (double-checked) is 1680. I know for a fact that some (and most likely all) of the missing items are in my photo library, but I can't get them to display in the album. Any clues to what's wrong here?
