So I previously had a Samsung and would store all my photos neatly on Google photos. Now I have an iPhone and although I can find some photos, I can't find like 95% of them. Of like 10 albums, I can only find one. None of the photos I have saved as favorites appear in the favorites section. And the photos I've taken with my iPhone won't save to google photos. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Google photos. I've made sure that the 'backup and sync' option was on in the app, in the settings, and nothing. I've tried giving it a whole hour to load and it didn't. I don't know what more I can do to access my previous photos and I don't know what more I can do I add new photos

On Android, you can't print the time & date stamp along with the photo. Any installed printer will print the photo only.

Answer:

I've tried the same and it works via the website but creates a new issue. The particular person that is tagged by this method is created as a static profile i.e, any further photos added of this person are not added dynamically to their profile. I've tried waiting a few days as well to check if newly added photos will be added to the profile but alas! That's not the case.

Are you trying to share the automatically created album in the people & pets section?
Then can you check whether you have archived some of the pics from that album?

When, we archive some picture, those remain visible in the album. However, when we share the album with someone, only the unarchived pics get shared.

Question: This fancy theme park should be worth a fortune, where is all the data

Find deleted photos and videos that were not meant to be viewed by public

If you want to get a deleted item back, check your trash to see if you can get it back. If your photo or video has already been backed up and you deleted it, it will remain in your Trash for 60 days.
  1. On your computer, go to the trash.
  2. Place your cursor over the photo or video you want to restore, then click Done Done.
  3. At the top right, click Restore Restore. That photo or video will be restored to your Google Photos library and added back into any albums it was in.
Don't see the photo or video? If a deleted photo or video isn't in trash, you can’t restore it. You won't be able to restore a photo if:
  • You moved it to trash more than 60 days ago.
  • You moved it to trash, then emptied your trash.
  • You permanently deleted it from your trash.
  • You permanently deleted it from your device’s Gallery app, without backing it up first.
The public cannot see images in your account, only images which you choose to share are available to others. Additionally, if a photo is deleted then even images which were previously shared are no longer accesible by others.

Question: Show deleted videos of new babies please

Ask for deleted videos of new born babies

Hello Sir ,

If you have uploaded photos on google photos and deleted it please take a look at the below info.

Following is text from the official Google Photos Help page about deleting and restoring photos and videos:

Restore photos & videos
If you deleted an item and want it back, check your trash to see if it’s there.
  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Photos app .
  2. At the bottom, tap Library  Trash .
  3. Touch and hold the photo or video you want to restore.
  4. At the bottom, tap Restore. The photo or video will be back:
    • In your phone’s gallery app
    • In your Google Photos library
    • In any albums it was in
If the item is not in your trash, it may be permanently deleted.
    Important:
    • If you delete a photo or video that’s backed up in Google Photos, it will stay in your trash for 60 days.
    • If you delete an item from your Android device without it being backed up, it will stay in your trash for 60 days.
    • If you see a photo or video in Google Photos that you think you deleted, it might be on a removable memory card. To delete it, use your device’s gallery app.
    Empty your trash
If you see a request to "Delete permanently" when you try to move an item to trash, your trash is full. Your trash can hold 1.5GB.

Important: If you empty your trash, you permanently delete any items in your trash.

When you attempt to manually empty the trash bin in Google Photos, a warning message box appears that explains you are about to permanently delete those pictures and videos. If you choose to proceed anyway, there is nothing that any of the volunteers in this forum can do to help you recover your pictures.

The information on the following Google Photos Help pages will help you become more familiar with finding, deleting, and restoring your pictures:

If you deleted pictures or videos that were not previously backed up to your account through the Google Photos app, then unfortunately there's nothing that Google or any of the volunteers in this Help Community can do to recover them.

Files that existed only on your phone, ones that were never uploaded to the cloud, cannot be recovered or restored by a cloud storage service. Simply put, Google can't help you recover files it never had in the first place.

    Thanks.

After selecting option as 'free up space' while back up of data was going on, I have lost all the data (images and videos) from different folders of my device gallery. In addition of this, the previous images and videos got incorrect date and time

Ex. For previous image/video, time and date got replaced with current date (when free up space process going on)

      Answer:

      Hi, Nupur Taras

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

First, the free up space doesn't alter the dates. Please visit the link https://photos.google.com & check the date order once again.

You can bring back the picture to your phone's gallery through the steps mentioned below. However, that wouldn't restore the original folder structure.
To bring back the pics to your phone's gallery, either, you can download photos one by one. Regrettably, there is no option to do so on a batch of photos.

Alternatively, you can install the Google One app there is a one time option to restore up to two hundred most recent photos to the device.
However, the local folder structure can not be restored.
To do so, there is no requirement to join Google One, the option is available to everyone.
However, the method may not be effective to recover something when the count is more than two hundred.

      Or, you can arrange for a bulk download by visiting the link https://takeout.google.com/;
Select the Google Photos app for data download.
Once the file is ready, you will get an email. Access that & unzip all the attachments into your phone's gallery.

That will bring everything to your phone.

      Answer:

Thank you so much for this solution. I'll try to troubleshoot the problem but do you believe that if it's not the Google photo's issue then it might the device' (Xiaomi model which I'm using) issue?

      Answer:

      Hi,  Nupur Taras

      Thanks for your reply

That's neither Google Photos nor your device's issue.

Whatever has happened because of misunderstanding of the utility "Free up space".
The free up space option is meant for clearing space on our phone.

You may not be feeling the pinch if the device has 128 or 256 GB memory + SD card option.
However, older devices with 16/32 GB memory use to run out of space quickly & then that was making the use of the phone itself impossible. Leave aside clicking new pics.

Further, a need may arise to factory reset the phone losing everything in the phone memory.

In such instances, the backed up data in Google Photos becomes a great saviour.

Nevertheless, the right approach should be:
First backup all the pics on some external disc Maybe more than one backup.
Then go for the free up space.
The cloud storage will be in space saver quality. But, then, you always have some physical backup with you in the original quality.

Photos and videos go missing in airplane mode, after turning the phone back on to service, photos and videos are missing!

I found them!! But I noticed others with the same problem, so wanted to share the solution.

They were archived as a random date from 20 years ago!!

I did a photo search of something I had taken a picture of and scrolled back through the years and found them dated 2001 instead of 2021.

If you are taking pictures on airplane mode, or out of cell service, take a photo of something the search software can easily find, like a hand or a cat, etc. Then when you have cell service again, you can search that item to locate your photos in your history.

Hope this helps recover someone's precious photos!!

When you back up iPhone SE photos to your Google Photos app is the resolution exactly the same? When I take a photo on my iPhone and see the resolution results on my Google photos app, it is always 4032 x 3024 , 3024 x 4032 or front camera 960 x 1280 or 1280 x 960 resolution  at 12.2mp.
I deleted all my iPhone photos and backed it up to my Google Photos. I would like to verify that the resolution is exactly the same as my iPhone photos.

I suggest you please make a movie of the selected pics. There, you can stipulate the duration for which every frame will remain visible on the screen.

Question: How to add photos to people's

Some dark pictures are not added to the peoples

      Hi, Philomin Raj

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

You can add a person through the following steps.

Tap to open the photo which contains unidentified faces & then slide up or tap the three dots.
If the app had failed to include some faces in that picture, then you will see a prompt "XX faces available to add".

Tap the edit icon at the extreme right edge. (An icon of a pencil ).

That will show identified faces in square boxes & their thumbnails at the bottom.
Tap on the + sign on each thumbnail.
Then the app will show you all the identified faces till that time.
You can select the right one.

If not, tap the + sign at the top right corner of the screen.
That would create a new grouping altogether.

Once created, the app may take some time to bring all the related pictures to this new grouping.
Otherwise, you can go through the collection & add the photos to the newly created group, manually, through the same steps as described above.

Question: How do I find deleted files

      Get back recently deleted information

      Hi Stephanie,

Please review the following information in case there are any options you haven't yet tried.

      1. Check your online account - photos.google.com
If your photos were successfully uploaded to your online Google Photos account they may be available there. Try visiting photos.google.com and searching for them. If you have more than one Google account, check all of them.

      2. Check the trash - photos.google.com/trash
Once you delete photos from your Google Photos account, they're moved to Trash for the next 60 days. If you deleted them by mistake you can always restore them from the Trash folder within those 60 days. Here's the link explaining how to recover them from Trash. If you have more than one Google account, check the trash for all of them.

If you accessed the Trash and manually sent the photos for permanent deletion, or if the 60 days expired, there is no way to recover them from Google Photos

      3. Review other options
      • visit picasaweb.google.com and search for your photos.
      • have you made any backups of the photos on your phone, camera, computer, or elsewhere?
      • there is a small chance that you can recover the photos using a recover deleted photos app.
      • you can contact the Google Drive support team to see if any deleted files may be recovered. Use the Google Drive contact form, click Missing or deleted files, select a contact option, and be sure to tell them you permanently deleted files in Google Drive.
      • If you ever shared the photos with anyone else, it's possible they may have a copy they could share back or send to you.

      Hello Soumi,

You may have used the original quality setting in that app.
So check what you have more precisely via one.google.com/storage because you also can have a lot on Drive if you hardly do use Gmail.
You can use the Recover storage button on photos.google.com/settings to get the amount of GB's used at Photos down to high quality level (not zero now anymore) - that process may take a day.
And check the unsupported videos in the same menu which should be deleted.

How can I STOP anything from automatically posting to Google Photos? I am positive I disabled this long ago, turned off all sync and back-ups. So, I was dismayed when I found out that all my recent (even today) pix are automatically going there. I have searched on many forums but due to constant re-design of the user interface none of the (even slightly) older instructions work -- like they say to click on something that doesn't exist. I am very frustrated. If you can answer this, please be very detailed with exactly what to do including the address of the very first web site to go to. If you refer to an icon, please show a picture of it so I can find it.

My phone is Android and my computer is Win 10. I prefer to work on the computer, but if I have to do something on the phone to make it stop, please specify.

This automation without a choice is very intrusive and ultimately it costs users money because we have to pay when we use up a certain amount of storage space. I pay for my own back up service and I never chose this.

      Thank you.
This is June 12, 2021 so I need to find an answer that relates to the current interfaces. Please. Thank you again.

      Answer:

      Peter,

Thank you. That's interesting. It partially helps, but it still raises some concerns. I didn't agree to use the Google Photo's App to access my private photos. It came to my attention because I get pop-ups from Google Photos (the app on the phone) -- showing me my photo's from the same date X no of years ago. I didn't ask for that. It feels totally creepy. Google owns the Google Photos App. So, technically, this means that Google has access to my private data. I think that's horrific. You might say that Google doesn't do anything with that unauthorized data -- but they certainly could because they have it -- and besides, it should be my decision.

It's terribly confusing that this Google Photos App on the phone has the SAME NAME as the Google Photo's App on the computer -- which you call a Google Photos Backup Location. But that's your name for it - -which is helpful -- but on my computer, it simply is called Google Photos, exactly the same name as the App on my phone.

How can I block the Google company from unauthorized access to my personal photos? A few letters to the right people and this could be a huge scandal. I mean really!

My phone is not a Google phone. I did not use any Google hardware or software to create or store my photos. Yet, a Google App just grabs them and then shockingly puts pictures in pop-ups on my device from many years ago -- or even just the other day. I have never willingly opened the Google Photos app on my phone. Never. It just runs and grabs my pix. I honestly feel very uncomfortable about this and I want it to stop. So, the question remains -- how to stop Google Photos from unauthorized access to my personal data.

      Thank you.
      Shosh

      Answer:

Although Peter may answer you later, I only can say that you may have used Picasa in the past or the Google Photos Backup somewhat later. So if you don't have changed your Gmail-account since years, you may have some old remains on the Google Photos site photos.google.com
And if you are logged-in into the app on your phone, you also will see these old photos there when you scroll down to the "bottom". Above that just is your actual contents on phone as Peter did explain.
Nothing to be angry about - just stored privately in your account like Gmail and documents on Drive and Google likes to show how clever their robots did become over years to show you some of these old memories in the Photos-app incidentily. But that automatyics can be switched-off in the settings.
That's all and you may delete the old remains on the site.

      Answer:

Peter-- My sync is off completely everywhere, has been for years. Thanks anyway.

Rinus -- I typed you a long reply last night but I must not have pushed the right button because it's not here. Thank you for your thoughts. No, I have never used Picasa and yes I used Google Photo back up several years ago but canceled it when I realized it was using up my Google storage space allotment, added onto my email storage. And yes, I just the other day finally figured out how to delete all my pix on Google Photos.   Oh, but I am upset about it. You see, the "robot" is of course programming code which Google owns. So, Google is grabbing my data without my permission. I was not upset when it grabbed data from the pix which I had stored on Google Photos before. But it's accessing my newer photos which were never stored on Google Photos, were not taken with Google hardware or with Google software. I never opened Google Photos on my phone, so I was shocked when I got that pop up with the newer pix which were never on the Google Photos backup.

Yes, I do feel somewhat better thanks to both of your explanations. But I still feel that it's invasive and improper that an App which I never chose to use is accessing my personal data without permission. You say it's not doing anything but giving me a portal to view them. But it's a program like any other and it is accessing my pix and honestly there is no way to know that Google is not using these pix for any other purpose. Impossible to know.

Look at it this way -- every time we install Apps on our phones, we have to answer a litany of tedious questions, giving each App permission to access our contacts (even when not relevant to the App - which is maddening), our camera, our microphone, our images. Of course you know what I'm talking about. These questions usually are asked when installing the App. But Google Photos came pre-installed on my phone and cannot be uninstalled. I did not choose to install it. So, Google has bypassed the standard security permissions. I have a problem with that.

I hope this post doesn't disappear like it did last night.

      Answer:

      @Shoske
We don't defend Google and we can't explain everything.
But if you have nothing on photos.google.com and you are not logged-in into the Photos-app, Google can't use anything from there. But even if they could, all automatic creations stay within your private space and it fully is up to if you want to share them with good friends.

It is indeed that Android is full of complex permissions and settings, but that is just because of so many private activities that can be done with these dangerous & tiny tools.

A main pittfall related to actual pictures can be the so-called location history coupled to the gps-sensor in the camera (which can be switched-off): that may generate pop-ups of pictures shooted yesterday.
So you may look into these complex settings more carefully or just switch-off this feature.

Hard to add more because we can't live with these tools anymore. But it still is much more important to build a nice photocollection on computer then having them all on phone only.
      Best

      Answer:

Oh, I always upload my pix regularly to my PC. And my PC is backed up to a cloud daily. I just choose use non-Google services for all that. I use Google for many things, but not everything. I don't want to use Google or any other one company for absolutely everything.

Again, I maintain that since a Google App has access to some of my photos -- even the ones that are on the phone -- that means that Google CAN use them, because, uh, having access means having access.

I use the meta tags for location etc for specific purposes. I should be able to do that without Daddy Google peaking in.  I shouldn't have to turn them off because I should be able to keep my data 100% secure and private.

I love many of the unique features of many products that Google has developed, and I use several of them, with pleasure. But no company, no person, no one should have access to any of my personal data without my specific permission. You're not going to get me to say anything different than that.

You can have camera gps on without having the Location history of Google on.
See the general settings of your phone about location and there is a lot of additional information also.
I stop with further commenting / best.

      Hello There,

If you deleted an item and want it back, check your trash to see if it's there.
      1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Photos app .
      2. And check the Trash .
      3. Click Restore
If the item is not in your trash, it may be permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.
You may also try to get a local professional to recover the photos from your phone storage,
but sorry to say Google cannot do anything about it.
